  1. It works! Can't wait get started!
  2. I could be wrong (it happens quite often) but I got the impression it was just a white colored roof, not snow on top. Great work, Kai. This is a very nice looking structure from the outside, but having an interior makes the whole build fantastic. I really like the stained glass windows, the pew designs, the pulpit...basically all of the interior details. Very nice!
  3. Congratulations, Ecc, that's great to hear!
  4. The ambassador's ship launches tomorrow? Does that mean BoBS launches tomorrow?!
  5. I thought that too at first, but from reading the comments, there seem to be a lot more passionate would-be Eslandolians and Corringtonians (or however the citizens are being called) than there are passionate Sea Rats, which might mean that despite having fewer members, they could still produce as many MOCs. For example, I will for sure be joining the Pirate faction, but I'm not sure I'll be able to participate as much as I would like, as my priority will most likely remain in GoH.
  6. Are you wanting to give instructions as the present, or are you wanting to give instructions plus all the pieces to build it? If you're wanting to give all the pieces, your only option is to buy a pre-existing set (the best of which, I agree with the others is the Medieval Market Village). You may be able to find custom instructions, but finding all the pieces to go with before Christmas at this point would be difficult for most people, but for someone who has never tried to do so before would be a nightmare.
  7. It probably does depend on the audience, but I'm fairly certain if you refer to a Native American woman as a squaw in front of her, you will not have a very pleasant reaction. I certainly didn't mean to start a big topic of debate here so I'm going to drop this now. In topic, I am very excited or this series, and still trying to decide exactly how much of which figures I'll be buying.
  8. I'd be awful careful there, squaw is a pretty offensive term.
  9. That's part of the Lands of Roawia, (someone can correct me if I'm wrong here) which is a very similar concept to GoH but on a different website and not at all related. DG beat me to it!
  10. I was under the impression the event would be held in Germany this time around. Is there a reason it is not? Will it be there again in the future?
  11. Varlyrio (With the extra R, which everyone, including myself never remember!) is actually to the West of Avalonia (ten days sailing to be exact). Otherwise as far as I know, Garmadon is correct on the other questions. I don't think there's any issues with LDD for task 5, as I haven't read such a limitation. I will go back and check and amend my post if I do find something! Also, don't feel bad about asking questions. A lot of time searching and reading can answer questions, but I think everyone knows there's a massive amount of information here and it can be overwhelming coming in as a newcomer (at least it was for me!), and asking questions is definitely a reasonable thing to do.
  12. Whoo hoo! Even though I might not participate in this as much as I'd like, I'm very excited to see it start and get to read up on everything. I've also got a character intro in the works. Maybe I'll work on that a little more now!
  13. Amazing use of parts! He's a great looking goblin.
  14. Thank you! Thanks, glad you liked it! I'm glad you've enjoyed it. I thought the story had run it's course at this point. I had originally wanted this to go through the four guilds, and to build in a lot of other people's cities or with other people's sig figs. While I succeeded in the first goal, I gave the second one up part way through. All in all I'm satisfied with the story, and you'll likely see more from Osric in the future (Book 3?). I appreciate the feedback. Looking at them now, the pictures do look better than I originally thought, but they're still a little dark in places, and the one of the bar seems...somehow strange. Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! The dividing walls were difficult, and in the other bedroom I had more furniture built, but I couldn't get a shot of the room. The attic wasn't planned until I read the CCC division descriptions and I decided the inn needed a ghost in the attic.
  15. I'm certain he meant any freebuild, not just for the frozen beyond. This prevents people (I assume) from joining GoH just to enter and possibly win a prize and then never return to GoH. In other words he only wants people that have been a part of the community a little longer to enter/win.
  16. I'm really liking that figure, specifically how you made his robes. Looking forward to more!
  17. Thank you so much for putting this on again CopMike! My ideal Christmas tree this year is one that's small enough to put on top of a cabinet so my son can't reach it!
  18. Very nice little build! I've been wanting to try that style of floor some time as well, it looks great here. I also really like the bottom part of the bed, though I'm not completely sold on the top part. All in all a great build, and it's nice to see you posting over here again!
  19. Final chapter in Osric's Tale is here!

  21. Osric's Tale Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Chapter 11 Chapter 12 Chapter 13 Chapter 14 Chapter 15 Chapter 16 Chapter 17 Osric had once again returned to Oros. He had stabled his horse before walking down the streets in search of his father. He had pondered what to do with the book since finding it in the Mitgardian farmstead. He thought his father should be notified at once and then it would have to be destroyed. He passed the farm his father worked at on his way into town so thought to look in some of the taverns. Late in the harvest as it was, he was often found relaxing in a tavern, interacting with the people of Oros. As he approached an inn with a popular tavern that Orys frequented, Osric heard someone approaching him from behind. He turned as his gaze was met by an old man dressed in gray. The man smiled at Osric and began to speak, “Hello, Osric. I’ve been very anxious to meet you.” “How is it that you know me?” Osric asked, “and who, may I ask, are you?” The man smiled again and paused a moment before answering, “I have been watching your journey from its infancy, and have been trying to guide you as much as I could. My brethren and I have been very anxious since Daemeon discovered the ancient Book of Knowledge’s hidden location. I am a Druid, and a member of the Council of Nine. Most people believe the Druids to have disappeared completely, though once in a great while you may meet one. However, very few of the remaining Druids have even heard of the Council of Nine. We wish to remain hidden, as we always have.” Osric’s thoughts were swimming. A council of Druids? he thought, trying to make sense of it all. The Druids had always tried to protect Historica, and had vanished in the creating of the Elemental Helm, which had been forged to protect the land. “Why did the council not disappear with the rest of the Druids?” he finally asked. “The council has always been kept separate from the rest of the Druids. We have existed so that we may act when Historica is at risk, and when no one else is able to save it. The Druids used the knowledge found within the book you carry to create the Elemental Helm as well as their other magical artifacts. When they disappeared we hid the book in an ancient library and sealed off its chamber for it to be forgotten. At that time we did so to preserve our ancient magic so it could be revealed if Historica were ever in grave danger. However, after Revolword and Daemeon’s actions it is clear to us that the ancient knowledge itself is Historica’s biggest threat, and only after destroying the book containing it’s secrets will Historica truly be safe.” “Then it shall be destroyed,” Osric said quickly. “Such power is far too dangerous for even those with the best of intentions.” “You are wise indeed, Osric Farwind,” the Druid answered with a smile. “We were right to put our trust in you for this quest, and I’m glad Historica is being protected by so many men like you. If there were not, Revolword would not have fallen. I must leave you now, but take heart in your victory over Daemeon. While the rest of Historica may not understand what you’ve accomplished, you can rest assured that they are safe for now. There will always be trouble, you must only keep the resolve to overcome.” The man then turned and began to walk away. As he did so, he began to fade away into thin air. Osric was still puzzled by the man, but he did try to heed his parting advice. He then went straight back to the castle and threw the book into the hearth of the main hall. He decided he would inform his father of the book, but to only say that he had destroyed it out of fear of the devastation it could cause. He did not believe his father would believe him if he mentioned the Druid, but then again, he probably wouldn’t have believed it himself. Well, that wraps this story up! I really hope you've enjoyed it, I certainly did. Sorry about the photography, I had to wait quite a while to take pictures because the weather has not been cooperative. I'm really thinking about trying to set up and indoor studio! Anyway, C&C is welcome as always!
  22. Nice build all around, and I really like the story. The wizard also looks great, the witch's hat works great there. Looking forward to seeing perry again!
  23. Very nice build, as kabel said, I like the dark blue a lot and it seems a little more natural than the purple, although nocturnus isn't necessarily natural! A very nice CCC entry that fits here nicely. Mine turned out quite the opposite, I have an inn for GoH finished, but when I read the CCC descriptions I added a nice little ghost so it fit there as well!
  24. Flickr is free and fairly easy to use! There are other free image hosting sites that you can use but if you don't have an account with a different site, and don't have anything against Flickr, I think most people would recommend using it.
  25. Congratulations to all the winners--it was a great contest with some truly amazing entries. This definitely got me interested in the pirate theme once again, hopefully just in time for BotBS!
