  1. Hi Effe, do these little fellows have Friction Ridges Lengthwise? I think, they have to stick in the other part very hard to avoid needless play.
  2. Even it is not a finished MOD, I just wanted to let you guys know about it. This is a FAILED attempt to modify the Arocs to a 8x8 (8WD). It was not possible for me to make this happen, so I quit after a couple of evenings and will rebuild the original version of the Arocs. I took as a basis the axle from ZBLJ and modified it a little. So far so good, but I did not manage to get the steering working properly, it was on the one hand to hard-working and on the other hand there is way to much play in the whole steering system. It was absolutely no fun. And I did not even start thinking properly about combininbge the two axle-packs together and attach the to the fake engine. In the end I decided to bury the project. Still I have made some pictures, maybe some of you have some better ideas. .. More detailled Pictures about this attempt in my Flickr folder.
  3. Here an anmimated GIF from Wikipedia concerning the difference between Boxer and V-180: Boxer above, V-180 below.
  4. I did the same mistake. This was the post of agrof some pages before. Maybe that explains it better.
  5. Not in the pdf, but in the website itself it says "Pendelachse vorne".
  6. At least here it says "Pendelachse vorne".
  7. Concerning the turning radius a lot of people are complaining about, check this picture. I guess it is not that far away from the real thing! Source: http://www.farminguk.com/images/guides/909_5.jpg
  8. Edit by Hinckley: pictures changed to links. Please reference the Site Guidelines (upper right hand corner of any forum page, under the banner or any staff signature) for the correct dimensions of posted images. These are too large. Thank you. That should have been important for Claas for the authentic appearance.
  9. You were too fast, Paul! I just realized that and wanted to delete my post ...
  10. What the h*** is this? An antenna? So it must be RC!
  11. It is a "5000 Trac VC", that measn the cabin HAS to turn! http://www.claas.de/produkte/traktoren/xerion5000-4000-hrc/trac-varianten
  12. I just sat for a couple of evenings in front of my Lego boxes and sorted and organized all of my studless stuff. I just sorted them by elements/parts not by colour, and the "old style" Lego stays still in a box in whcih I will have to rummage around for finding a specific part (like in the good old days of childhood). .. For the German guys, I bought the boxes at Obi. They might not be cheap, but they have a very good quality, separate little boxes to take out, they are stackable and - how funny - they are "Made in Denmark". Here are the item-numbers and prices: LUX Sortierkasten flexibel 41 cm hoch (8cm high) - 6641021 - 26,99€ LUX Sortierkasten flexibel 41 cm (5,5cm high) - 6641005 - 19,99€ As I don't have a specific room to work in, at least I have now the possibility to start building and to clean up rather fast.
  13. Yeah, please add more detailled fotos of the (front) suspension!
  14. I made a little video about two years back, when I found my old Lego parts at my parent's house. The Lego got really brittle and weak.Totally unusable.
  15. Excellent video! So simple and clean, even a kid could understand it!
  16. I also just vreated a short video of the drive train.
  17. Sorry, just changed the permissions of the photos on Flickr to "public". Now anybody can see them.
  18. Yesterday the missing parts arrived from Bricklink, so I could finish my MOD. I decided to waive the second center diff between the two front axles and just build the drive train with the one center differential between the two axle pairs. Considering playability it does not affectit too much, you can feel a slight bracing when running the truck through long turns. .... I also changed the kinematics of the crane a little bit, so that i folds a little more. ... That's how it looks like, I am satisfied so far, but who knows... maybe I will start changing things again later... .... More detailled pictures are on my Brickshelf or Flickr-folder.
  19. Yup, but as I wrote... WIP.... And to be totally precise: It's a 6x8 so far!
  20. As I am a big fan of Quattro & Co., I allways wanted to upgrade my models with AWD. For christmas my wife gave me the 8258 Crane Truck and - as most of you - I think that this was a milestone in the Lego Technic Flagship era. So after finishing it I immediatly started to think about the possibilities of upgrading this excellent set with 8x8 and other improvements. Here you can see now my progress so far: Added double wheels in the back added second driven axle in the back (as developed by BS-user arachnid) added most of the improvements of Designer-Han added opening doors added (first?) center differential added the first driven front axle See here the first impressions of my changes. ..... ...... . In the moment I think about adding a second center diff between the two front axles, but I am not quite sure, if that is neccessary for the playablity (torsion in the drive train and thus rubbing tires). I will test that. Updates will be posted here soon.
  21. Cool! Thanks for the flowers! That makes me feel building the Unimog once again and put it into the shelf!
  22. @Rockbrick: yes, a Tatra has diffs for each axle. But they are mounted lengthwise instead of crosswise. I just build an optial layout for the diffs for an 8x8, considering the two backwise axle as one as they are not steered. That means one differential between the two steered front axles, as they have different turning angles. And one between the two backwise axles and the front center diff. But without any limited slip differentials or locks it would not make a lot of sense as this setup could lead to the situation Pluto_MkII described above: one wheel will spin (rather fast).
