[MOC] RC Trophy Truck
zux replied to MRP_'s topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Since you are using portal hubs at the back it is already well braced so with correct gears it shouldn't skip gears. What if you try 8 and 20 teeth gear combo?- 35 replies

What seems to be the problem? I see no troubles using Imgur as long as you use direct URLs for each picture.

SBrick General Discussion

Yeah... but this controller costs almost like the Sbrick itself. On, my research, I sadly didn't find many BLE gamepad alternatives.- 780 replies

Model seems to be a bit slow. I wonder what gear ratio do you use with those XL motors? How heavy your model is?- 35 replies

So, if you have steering (1st function) and suspension (2nd) in a model already you are willing to include 8 more, but this time pneumatic?

Nice to see how quickly you progress with such compact build. Looking forward to see it built in bricks. -

I would agree with krisandkris12 - printing would cost a lot. If the surface needs to be flat maybe you could look into cutting the pieces from plastic sheet? -
Isn't this something you shouldn't mention publically?

1. There are sets I like the way they are. These are either kept assembled or each one is kept separately if disassembled. 2. Then there are other sets which are bought for parts, so they end up sorted and used for MOCs. 3. Other means of extra parts are from Bricklink mostly. This counts for about 1/5 of my parts. If you have just started and lack basic bricks then good way would be just to buy sets (new or used). Except you know exactly what you need - then hit Bricklink or Brinkowl.

[MOC] RC Trophy Truck
zux replied to MRP_'s topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, we already had a similar discussion sometime ago, where majority (if not all) agreed nobody likes posts without content (question, problem, MOC, review, etc.). There is nothing to discuss, "like" or do anything else. We have WIP topics here which would count as a trailer. But then again, it should be a proper topic, with pictures already in the first post, not just list of functions you wish to include. Basically you already have to show something. They are fun to read, see how project progress and how you deal with various issues. Edit: found the old topic (linked).- 35 replies

Sorry, what's the point of showing something, but then ummm, not showing it? We can wait couple of days till you finish the model or editing video/pictures.- 35 replies

Well, top 3 will get their special medals anyway. We need to find way of getting generic Technic badge defined.
-
I believe it would be better to state clearly, let's say, top 5 (top10 or whatever number is chosen) entries to receive it, rather than "special" entries. Otherwise you might end in unnecessary discussions like "I was 7th and get nothing, while he was 8th and got it".
-
May I suggest rewarding tag to more than top 3 as well? Forum is snowed with members having tags specific to other LEGO themes/subforums. Yet many great builders here in Technic subforum still lack these.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion

I mean price wise this is not really possible as PF stuff is quite expensive. Unless this is literally just PF/RC stuff with few parts attached around it. But that would look horrible. -

This doesn't seem to be logical to reintroduce radio control with not the most expensive set of the year. -
Yeah, it is a time of the year where you have hopes, but don't raise them high not to get disappointed.

You already got the answer... Brickset grabs all the parts and details from LEGO DB.

No, TLG shouldn't do this whatsoever. Yes, rules weren't that great as they are with EB contests and the way models for top 20 were chosen isn't great ideal as well. But I didn't see your entry getting banned, so why to brag about the rules each in post? It is a contest, where 100+ people were expecting to be in top 10 to get the Porsche set, but this is not possible, obviously. Someone have to loose be left with nothing as contest won't be giving prizes for everyone. Even half of these 20 models chosen in first round won't get anything. Should we expect second wave of complains then again? To be honest, if you want to get the most of the contest in a current situation I would suggest you doing proper PDF instructions or learn how to do them. Your models is quite big and complex so it won't be easy, which is good . When you get used to do it well combining with your future excellent MOCs you could make some money selling instructions.

Ups and Downs of LEGO shopping online

Was it an actual shipping price or "shipping price" that actually includes number of undescribed fees? -
General Part Discussion
zux replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You need to do your "Bricks & Pieces" order first, which then appears in your normal S@H shopping cart where you can spend your VIP point and everything else you do with normal order. It just you won't get any VIP points for "Bricks & Pieces" order.- 5,509 replies
