  1. "So it is more compact than original 8880, have same functions as original model, plus additional ones (adjustable ride height, opening doors and bonnet), studless, not orange, and took 3 years 2 months to finish." To TLG: You have something to learn here
  2. Well, I was sceptical on initial update results, but it the end it will get used to it as it should have some new good (I hope) features that weren't possible before. Website is getting more into "touch friendly", like huge pics and small text, which is totally unnecessary. Wanted list page is useless right now. Picture above doesn't represent the horror.
  3. I like this model a lot - the looks, the functions, just great! Actually I've spotted it some months ago on Youtube, but never commented there. Is it just me or your 8880 mod looks to be a bit short. What are the proportions comparing to original 8880?
  4. I was looking to understand if the answers will be publicly available. Thanks for confirming this.
  5. While I agree on this I hate having new/unique pieces being printed.
  6. Seems like fantastic trip! Will there be answers from designers to questions gathered a while ago?
  7. I "like" the way you get into such conclusions without ever using Bricklink.
  8. I really don't mind having such set every, say, 3 years.
  9. 20EUR per set? That's a Bargain!
  10. We had an event having kids assembling huge LEGO Yoda minifigure (2m tall, ~6 feet). This came from TLG with proper instructions to follow. There were couple of features making it possible: 1. heavy base 2. core structure made of few metal beams 3. bricks were placed on glued bases and the whole model was assembled in layers (glued base - bricks - glued base -...) If the structure shown on picture was free standing without any mentioned features it would better have some army forces protecting it from being touched. I don't see this as a kid's problem. Edit: TLG reference added.
  11. BI with extra "errata" page would look ultimately great on coffee table.
  12. Excellent review Jim. There was so much said in this topic already nothing really much to add. However I'd like to notice, while all the functions (or lack of them) received a good portion of criticism I find the lack of proper suspension setup and not highlighting the lack of a it a bit disappointing. Also, TLG missed a good opportunity to re-introduce 9L liftarm in Orange. Good thing 11L is back.
  13. Yes, you cannot deny this, but then again, at the same this shows the demand.
  14. 1. This is not limited edition set. You will have a chance to buy your copy sooner or later 2. This happens with sets in high demand
  15. Hmm, an new (interesting) type of an activity. Looks wonderful!
  16. It doesn't matter, the rim/disk size is the same. There were both options available for 42000. It was a transition time when 6 hole wheels were introduced and applied on 42000, Unimog.
  17. I just thought of a good way getting rid of "picture hotlinking" traffic (if needed of course) - simply renaming pictures would help.
  18. It depends what you like/want. If you are looking for flagships, both 8043 and 8258 are worth to try. Some older supercars like 8880 and 8448 are good choice as well. 41999 is essentially a different body over 9398 chassis, so if you not looking for exlusiveness you'd better look just for 9398. There is nothing much spectacular about this set apart crawling remotely.
  19. Brick separator virus, check for pictures.
  20. From my understanding, while 16L studded Technic beam has same number of holes as studless the later one is much lighter. Keeping in mind this is the way how Technic parts interconnect, this is a substantial savings in materials and costs. Another thing studless beam is square in its shape, which gives much more opportunities to use various connectors in desired place.
  21. Well, most of LEGO pieces have "LEGO" logo on them, so you can do basic checks. From what has been told over internet about knock-off sets - they have poor quality, so then it shouldn't be hard to distinguish such parts.
