  1. Thanks. The mixel eye is actually just resting on the baby body, the neck peg isn't long enough to hold it on tightly.
  2. Did my best to oblige, my spiky mace piece disappeared though. Mods if this post is too far off topic feel free to move it.
  3. After building it I feel that yes it would be better if it were less expensive, but it is not very overpriced. The 14 unique minifigures are comparable in quality and design to the collectable minifigures, and 14 CMFs would cost about as much as this set. The minifigures in this set are not as quirky or fun or specialized as the CMFs but that makes them more useful in a city setup. All of them have accessories, the baby, wheelchair, and hotdog bun are the standouts. All of the parts can be switched around so that you have lots of potential for customizing, in fact the last page of the instructions encourages you to do this. I doubt a CMF series of ordinary people would sell well, but I'm sure a lot of other FOLs have been wanting more average minifigs and this set will satisfy them. Oh and the baby's head comes off. The hole is the same as a standard bar, just like the Friends minidolls.
  4. Found this at TRU today. It was the first time I paid full price for a City set in a long time. I just couldn't resist it.
  5. Brickset had an article a few weeks ago about how to build a DIY Light Box. Many of the comments had good info too. http://brickset.com/article/20303/how-to-make-a-cheap-but-effective-light-box-to-help-improve-your-lego-photography
  6. I hear they are going to put the Creator Expert Logo on the Assault on Hoth Set and sell it as the 2017 Modular.
  7. ^I wouldn't say it is the worst piece, or that it is useless. But personally I would have been fine never having them. I won't get into what I think is the worst/most useless part as that could send this thread way off topic.
  8. In the case of the flick fire missile, ignorance is bliss.
  9. I've encouraged my kids to put certain Lego sets on their birthday and Christmas lists specifically because I wanted just a couple of parts out of those sets. I knew that after they built the sets (and then destroyed them) the parts would be available to me.
  10. ^Yes, and it was motorized.http://brickset.com/sets/4094-1/Motor-Movers
  11. ^Try Brickowl
  12. Thanks. I hope to replicate this only bigger and better once I have a larger permanent space.
  13. I've wanted to build a Lego city since I was 8 years old, over the last 30 years something always prevented me from finishing(or even starting). But in the past few years I collected enough to put together what I'd been planning, I made a table, my kids stopped wrecking everything... it seemed like it was all going to come together finally. But a shift in the local housing market means it is time for us to sell, so anything permanent will have to wait for our next house. I chose to do temporary setup before packing everything up for the move. I would have liked to use brick built roads, which I agree look great. But I needed something quick and easy to take down. I googled and found a pdf of printable roads. The creator of the file posted it in a Reddit thread and seemed happy to share it. I printed onto standard paper, and then laminated them for durabilty. The lamination did give them a rather shiny look, especially in my pictures.
  14. This is an experiment with paper roads.
  15. I would check the prices of sealed sets compared to used sets on Bricklink. Then you can get an idea of how much value your sets may lose once opened. You can also get a feel for how many sealed sets may be availble in the world. If it looks like the sets you have are very rare (in a sealed state) it may benefit you to leave them sealed.
  16. Any guesses on how the wings are attached?
  17. @Legoguy1984, by printing them actual size they come out being the exact same size as the plates they are based on. I've got what would be the studded part of the plate slid under the sidewalks which leads to the roads looking narrower.
  18. It's ok, but it could use about 20% more death.
  19. Your roads look great. The extra details you've added really bring your scene to life. I like your bridge a lot, but it could use a guardrail. I've been planning a Lego city for years, but I haven't had the space for anything permanent. Since most of my setups have been temporary I looked for a temporary solution to the road problem. Just last week I found these Printable Lego Roads by Russel Lindsay. I used a laminator to make them durable. They look good enough for me for now, and may become my permanent solution.
  20. There are so many great details in this build, I had to comment so I'd have an easy way to come back and look at it again. Thanks for sharing it.
  21. I think you're right that this could be a very good parts pack, but until the parts list comes out it's hard to say what percentage of the parts would be useful for a modular building. I'd guess that there could be at least 100 technic parts inside the maze, which try as I might I can rarely use them in modular MOC. I also expect that the bricks hidden in the interior will be bright primary colors. My estimate is that about 600 of the parts would work for me. I'd buy it for sure at $40, but it would have to sell very poorly for it to be discounted that much. Is it wrong to hope that the set is a failure in the stores?
  22. All of these have too many parts or limited global appeal, except the Beatles. I like the Beatles, but I would hesitate to buy a set with that many yellow parts. I would buy an Abbey Road vignette though.
