I would be second that - it would allowing me make quality .obj versions of his bricks very easily cos at the moment I had to forget about it cos without studs it is quite useless + adding them myself by counting their exact position...blah, noway, it is pity really I guess. Ah, that is pity although I understand you very well...

Sorry, you can not turn off that ball representation of the Spherical light at the moment, BUT I would suggesting you to change the type of the light to POINT that is the closest one to your desired effect, it's syntax would be like: light { type point color 1 1 1 power 3000 p 0 10 0 } ...or if you want it to be placed at some specific brick position (actually not aure if msx80 did already implemented this my improvement yet): light { type point color 1 1 1 power 3000 transform { translate 0 0 0 //<--- fine tune the position as you like lddbrick <BRICK.MATRIX.VALUE.FROM.LXF> } }

Yes, I can agree with that. Actually I am doing something similar all the time: in my .sc I have separate line pointing to my materials.sc therefore I can have different materials for every render - if I want - with ease.

Oh, Nicola, c'mon now - would take forever? That is not true at all (you most probably did not tried it yourself where I am working with it constantly even with really big MOCs so I can tell from the first hand how it is): it would take longer, right, like 3x or 4x longer but definitely not "forever", if such a huge one like this took only 1 hour compared to 25 minutes + ppl want those materials as default + the only other real alternative (POVRay) would really take WEEKS TO RENDER, in such case I find it unbelievable saying it is unacceptable. Anyway as I said above you as the main developer has the final word so do as you wish - at least I will provide my materials to those who are interested if they ask me for it, if no one asks I will just leave it to myself being happy having quite good looking materials. P.S>: most of the materials on this particular MOC are those my "special" materials, so you are wrong once again in your assumption here...
-
Just to make things even detailed and more understandable what we are talking about: This huge render of 1920x1080 pixels took cca. 1 hour to render with my materials, without them it was like 25 minutes (link to the MOC here for those interested: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=113100).

You most probably did not got him quite right, I guess he meant he won't do that anytime soon as there are much more needed things needed to be done first, BUT if you look at the planed stuff here https://bitbucket.org/msx80/blueprint/issues/33/support-for-ldraw you will see it is there... So I guess if one told him he has ready that parser for him he could change his mind and simply implement it.
-
I 'm a bit afraid you won't get it from him as a direct default materials as he complains my mateials added some additional minutes to the rendering time (which I find quite ridiculous cos it is still far far less than comparable result in POVRay, like 5 or 7 minutes instead of 2 minutes where in POVRay it would take many hours, but once again he is the boss here), sorry. Actually I know he was/is trying to make new shader(s) that would do what my approach did, fingers crossed.

UPDATE * added LEGO Ideas link -
@Pedrollane BTW I have one suggestion for you: what about contacting msx80 via PM and JOIN BOTH OF YOUR SF EFFORTS into one "product" so the would be support for both LDD and LDRAW SF renders in one sw? Cos I know he plans to add LDRAW support sometime later but as you already have it successfuly implemented maybe you could help him or even better join your two sw into one...what do you think about the idea, hm? It'd be great I guess!
-
Yes, you can add as many lights as you wish, for example you can have 2 Spherical lights like this: light { type spherical color 1 1 1 radiance 10 center 0 50 50 radius 20 samples 64 } light { type spherical color 1 0 0 radiance 10 center 0 50 -50 radius 20 samples 64 }

This had most probably to do with their update to site's login script as many users were complaining about it for a long time, for example I was not able to log in like last 3+ hours but now it seems to be OK and working again.

I have reply from LuxorV and the problem was really with the formatting of the sentence (No bold, no different colors, just pure simple non-formated text was the solution )...all is solved now, thank you all for your input - this topic can be closed/locked now. Ah, I did not noticed you also reply here...anyway thanx, problem solved (hope so).

UPDATE: * re-added LEGO Ideas direct link (after advice from LuxorV - thanx for pointing me to the "problem" so I could change it to apropriate version)

Maybe I still do not get it or something but what is the difference between the link you provided and my post in question here http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=111308 ? See I am not trying to sound rude (english is not my native language and maybe sometimes it looks/sounds that way but it is not, so please bear with me) but I really see no difference between them: * she has several images (10) / I have several images (6 - I simply have no more renders of that MOC) * she has a tiny bit of text there (at the top) / I have a tiny bit of text there (at the bottom) * she provided LEGO Ideas link (uder line) / I provided LEGO Ideas Link (made it good visible using different colors)

TESTED - unfortunately there is no advantage/improvement in glass rendering over original BlueRender's version...I used latest BR v0.004 with replaced sunflow.jar (with the one built from your SF src you provided above) and the final result - used with BR - is really bad (you probably changed some stuff that is badly needed by BlueRender I guess) - msx80's Orca model a little bit MODded by me : This is result from your SF: This one is ORIGINAL BlueRender's materials & SF (v0.004) ...and finally this one is result of my own materials & SF MOD: So as you can see glass material is basically the same quality with your and original BR SF although when I saw your #6973 render I thought it is much more improved over the original one (maybe there is something else in your other src code elsewhere?), but as of now my MOD is the way to go at least deffinitely for me cos compared to original one it looks really like a plastic trans glass wheres the original is too dark and dull. Anyway thank you for your kindness providing your src for testing - appriciated!

Aha, OK, thanx for your explanation, so now I think the problem may be in the line "about" the actual LEGO Ideas link I put there, I have it like this: - could that being considered as "too shouty" and "I want Ideas support! If I post it on EB, perhaps more people will vote!" (alhough I make the topic like 3-4 days before actual LEGO Ideas one)?
-
Thanx for your answer but I only understood the 1st half: I did not understand your 2nd half of the answer ("...and the title shouldn't be have anything about it being an ideas set" - ehm, what? )...could you please say it in some other way? Or did you mean that there should not be anything about LEGO Ideas in the topic/message title? Cos if that is correct then I did do everything as it should be and yet I do not know why was my LEGO Ideas link removed from the body of one of my messages?
