  1. Pity! I've got cracks in relatively new pieces (say, nog more than 2 years old).
  2. Ah, I never was much of a Playmobil fan, though I remember playing with the civil war era sets at a friend of mine, who had quite a lot of those blue guys. I don't remember having any Playmobil sets myself, jut wasn't interested since there was nothing to build. Still don't really follow them, though I have the idea that they generally do the same themes (police, fire, camping). Saw they also have collectible "minifigure" in polybags...
  3. I'm puzzling about it, but no, I've not (yet?) got a solution...
  4. With legs that long, it's only a few steps to every destination!
  5. I really like the idea, but it's a pity it results in those open sides... also because I think the end result viewed from the front is not quite right. Good effort though! And the trailer and harvester are great.
  6. Is that a crack in the white wedge-like piece at the back? Nice review!
  7. As this is the real life version, the two axles in the back are quite right: But the end result in the startpost is a bit too long too my liking. But I think that this is down to a difference in continents: over there in AUS (and the USA) you're used to big rigs. Over here everything is a bit more "cramped" and such a long vehicle would only be seen in a more industrial setting, not in towns. And the trucks for industrial settings rarely use this Econic-cab, they'd use a more regular cab.
  8. You did look at the video? It takes the general idea of WVM and takes it quite a lot further than that... ;)
  9. Ah, there is the nuance. Quite a difference from "Sucks big time". Still: you don't like it, so people who do are wrong? Weird...
  10. As a kid I have tried to build realistic fairground rides that could be collapsed for transportation. I succeeded for the most part, but there was always something that didn't work. Either the ride worked, but could not really be collapsed, or the collapsing thing kind of worked, but the ride wasn't realistic. This is a great set. All those little things that work (like that dunk tank) and also a working ride that can also be collapsed for transport! Yes, in reality you'd want all riders to be able to get on the ride in one time, which in real-life rides is realised by having a kind of a "stage" around the ride to get on and of the ride, which of course could be modded on to be transported by another truck. I know this is a creator set and as such doesn't have to follow the City "rules" about vehicle size, but still the only real "weak" point in my opinion is that it is an 8 wide truck, which makes it harder to integrate in my city-layout. Or maybe I should say: the fact that this looks way more realistic for scale than the standard 6-wide trucks of City and would no doubt have me wanting to convert all my trucks to 8-wide...
  11. I by no means want to mock your project, but if it took you a year to get to a little over 600 supporters, how long wil it take to get to 10.000? If it ever gets there? I think it's just common sense to put a time limit on projects. Yes, it's going to be hard, but not impossible. And if/when Ideas is pomoted a bit more on the Lego pages, it will draw more attention anyway. And in the end Lego is a commercial company. Sets have to be commercially viable, even if they are the result of Cuusoo/Ideas. A set that took a long time to get the required votes probably won't be that interesting to people. But I do also fear that the emphasis will shift to sets that are linked to popular themes, more specifically movies and the like. A really cool idea for a City vehicle might never make it, because the people that are interested in those simply might not vote or even know that said idea is there... Maybe Lego could do something about that...
  12. Earlier this year I wanted to tile all around my Fire station. So I calculated how many tiles I would need of every kind and put those amounts into PaB. I then decided the Fire Brigade would have to do with a bit more of a rough surface on their terrain.
  13. I agree with you, Missing Brick. This is SPAM, albeit a bit cleverer than the bots we had before which responded to a running topic with a link to something that had absolutely nothing to do with teh subject of that topic. This link leeds to a site that does have something to do with Pallet Trucks, so obviously this bot is content-sensitive. Post has been reported, so I guess it will be moderated soon.
  14. It might also be an educated guess, based on what they read on forums such as these... ;)
  15. Like it! One point of comment: I personally would put the drivers cab a bit higher.
  16. I think GE is just something people can relate to better than to Town Hall. Plus Town Hall is quite expensive with quite a low play/fun factor. GE is just more "bang for the buck".
  17. Honestly? I'm glad I already have some police motorbikes, because this one is, well, a bit simple in execution. The previous version (7235) is much more realistic, mostly because of the cases on the back. But they had to sacrifice something to be able to add the crook and the fence. Still: nice to see Lego offering a stand alone Police motorbike again, when I had none I had to buy the starter set from last year to get one... While in this case the stickers mean you are given the option to leave them off and thus have two 2x1 tiles, I rather prefer the printed ones. I don't quite agree with the usefulness of your "useful parts" selection, because I have tons of handcuffs and 100-notes and have no use for them at all (really, I'd give them away for free, cause they're just taking up space at the moment). The spare tyre is a surprise for me too.
  18. Nah, a set that size should not have to cost more than the normal Great Vehicles sets, like the camper van. It's mainly "glass" panels. Maybe with a decent sized bus stop and 3-4 passengers though. But it would be nice, I've already been looking into building one from scratch to complement the one I already have. Stlll a bit miffed I didn't pick up City Corner (with the yellow bus) form that department store in Denmark last summer, where they sold it for about 35 euro's...
  19. I would appreciate some "normal" cars with a roof. I know it's always sunny in Lego city, but come on, even new cars are being delivered with the top down these days (not to mention the fact that a car wit a roof would not fit on the car transporter - I tried...)
  20. For me, it's the the bricks & build that count, not the box or the instructions. The box is opened and then usually won't be touched again until I put it in the waste paper bin. If the instructions are crumpled, it doesn't really bother me, as long as they're stil readable. I do, however, get a bit miffed when a stickersheet is crumpled. I don't often use the stickers, but that just shouldn't happen. That said, the booklet and box that come with for example the Back to the Future and the Architecture sets make it all just feel that more luxurious. But you do pay extra for that. I feel that with Lego you're first and foremost paying for the quality of the bricks themselves (and also a bit for the brand). The recent Movie sets do however have a more fancy box in terms of the finishing of the cardboard, while they're not really that more expensive than comparable City sets. As for the big rock pieces: I knews they were in the box, but I share the feeling that the resulting "mountain" lacks a lot in reality-feel. The cottage will be used in my lay-out, the "mountain" won't, at least not as Lego intended it.
  21. If I come across a discounted one of these, I'm going to rescue that one too and turn it into a milk-truck. I definately need one of those. I think. Well, anyway.
  22. Something like... this? (my modded version of precisely that truck).
  23. I don't know, but the evidence would suggest that it's the other way around... I am however, pretty sure some of the "minor" mods I have made to some vehicles last night would drive Lego into bankrupty, if they had been original features... Looking forward to Avalonia City. I'm slowly building my own town layout and it's way more difficult than I would have thought...
  24. A few "cheap" parts per set extra times a huge amount of sets ultimately comes down to quite a substantial amount. If carmakers skimp on parts that only cost a few cents more, why wouldn't Lego? That's business for you... ;)
  25. Economics... I think that if Lego would let the designers go wild and release the sets how the designers would relly like them to be, we would either be paying quite a lot more for the sets or Lego would go bust in no time... That said, wouldn't it be lovely if Lego would introduce a line of more "mature" city sets? A bit pricier, but also more realistic? Then again, this way there's plenty of room for modding and for me, that's maybe the most fun I have with Lego...
