Because the movie wasn't done when LEGO started development a year before sets were released. Special effects are one of the last things produced, and whether models or CGI, Star Wars vehicles are a special effect. Those wings may have been fixed position for a very long time after TLG got the drawings they worked from. Heck. The toys were out 2 months before the final edit of the movie was complete. This is how we got a snowspeeder toy with less than 2 seconds of screen time. Legally bound or not, no licensee was going to miss the release date if they didn't have problems. Not having product on shelves when promotion says so means lost sales and risks angering a licensee that is pretty frickin' powerful. We are talking about Disney. How many product lines does TLG make for Disney? Whether or not they produce on demand will effect future contracts, and between Marvel, Star Wars and Princesses, do you think TLG would jeopardize that relationship by releasing sets a year after asked to, just so they can wait to see final movie scenes before starting to design sets? Hasbro also has toys out there that are based on the same drawings, with the same flaws. People can't even modify those to be more accurate. I'd say we're pretty lucky in that regard. Although, Constable Zulio figures may end up way more valuable as a result of him not being in the movie if history repeats itself.

She doesn't meet the definition of a Marysue. Marysue will always fail and be rescued by a male hero. Finn failed and she rescued him.

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
rollermonkey replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I know that a lot of people aren't good at math, but it seems to me that the statements made thus far add up to this Summer TFA set not having 23 minifigs, vehicles, buildings, and a critter bigfig. Temper your expectations guys, or you'll just set yourself up for disappointment. Again. -
Just based on the lack of that sort of discussion currently in the designated Technic/Mindstorms/Model Team forum, I can't imagine that a dedicated sub-forum would be warranted. You may not be able to search for EV3 specifically, but you can try using the tags function. People can tag their topics with EV3, NXT or Mindstorms or whatnot, and there are a few pages of topics with those tags. I searched on 'elevator', since I happened to know a recent MOC called "space elevator" was tagged with at least one, and clicked the tag for mindstorms. In that list, I could click on tag for NXT for a list of topics tagged so, or the tag for EV3 to get a list of topics with that tag. Also, the last post in this topic: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=81075 contains links to many helpful Mindstorms topics at Eurobricks and some external links to other Mindstorms resources. If none of those fit your needs, make a new topic. If it gets a lot of traffic, then the Technic Mods would make the decision if a Mindstorms sub-forum was warranted.

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors
rollermonkey replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm sorry, but you guys are stretching. Palpatine is responsible for the war, so he got dropped into a droid set? Amidala is from the same planet as the Gungans, so she makes sense in the sub? I like LEGO and Star Wars, but that doesn't mean that everything they do automatically makes sense. To blindly accept these things as appropriate/ acceptable is a prerogative you can choose, but that doesn't mean everyone has to agree. In one sense, I hate minifigs, because way too many arguments spring from them. Too much detail, not enough. This figure belongs, no it doesn't. "We" need some super-obscure character that has an instantaneous appearance, because someone thought they were cool. It gets old, reading the same tired lines of discussion about the figs every wave. I enjoy Star Wars LEGO because they are cool and fun to build. Continuously complaining about them instead of enjoying them for what they are is a pretty lame hobby. It's almost as bad as the "fans" who watched TFA and then immediately compiled a list of the 7, 25 or even 75 things they found wrong with the film. (And yes, I recycled those arguments about figs on purpose. They've been made before, over and over, which is the point I'm making.) -

Yeah, but when did Queen Amidala ever get near a Gungan sub? -
The builders seem to have had a glue bottle in hand the whole time.

Mindstorms is in the Technic forum, which is far from a social media zoo. A topic on programming there would be far more appropriate than a subforum. There frankly aren't that many people with questions along that line.

I have been, particularly UCS, Architecture and Creator Expert boxes, but I think I need to start tossing them... I have way too many, and for no good reason.

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors

Um, the Gozanti-class Cruiser is from Rebels, still on shelves and a pretty cool set. -
JJ has also said that BB8 asking R2 about the map initiated the exit from low power mode, but with 70 years of data in his memory banks, it took R2 half the movie long to defrag his hard drive and boot up. Threepio has had his memory wiped, Artoo never has.

REVIEW: 75104 Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle
rollermonkey replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Star Wars
There have been enough people in this forum alone say that they won't buy the current one because they are waiting for a more accurate version, that I suspect TLG is aware of it and will act accordingly if necessary. -

$100 Twilight remake, I'm calling it now. -
REVIEW: 75104 Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle

Depends. Is it a Snowspeeder or something else? Snowspeeders seem to have a 6-moth replacement timeframe, everything else varies from 2 years and up. -
Yes... But OP was asking about polybags. :D

If you think about it, that's largely how the destruction of Alderaan played out, too. No dramatic buildup, no real mourning of the destruction, or understanding of who they had been or why it was destroyed, other than as a test shot and to intimidate others. The difference is there are now six movies of backstory for episode VII. Nobody knew ANYTHING about anything that was going on in 1977. I saw the move when I was a kid during its initial run, and it really was pretty confusing on the first viewing... there had been nothing like it before, unless you count the serials that Lucas had seen when he was a kid, but we hadn't seen them ourselves!

Since this thread is for those who've seen the film... How many vehicles that weren't made into sets were there? The ship that Rey and Finn run towards and gets blown up, the ship the Falcon 'visits' after leaving Jakku, the FO star destroyer... Did we actually see the ship Finn was headed towards on Takodana? Ground support equipment at the Resistance base. ...and I'm stumped. I was looking all around the edges of the space battles for anything like new Y-, B- or A-wings... Didn't see anything but X-wings and TIEs, though.

REVIEW: 75104 Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle
rollermonkey replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Star Wars
There seemed to be a surprisingly small number of new vehicles in the film, unless I missed something. Unless there is no equivalent vehicle in VII or IX, we'll almost have to get another version of this eventually. -
Nah. There's no common scale for polybags. They are all over the place.
