Great fig! I can't wait to see what you build! Sad to see you picked the wrong Corp though. Also, you should pick a Job. ~Insectoid Aristocrat -
[Challenge 1] Arium Major's Majesty [O - F10]
Dannylonglegs replied to Kodan Black's topic in AG1 Archive
I really like how barren this feels. This is actually rather akin to what I first thought of when I was trying to imagine what the terrain of Arium Minor would be like on land (and not the ocean). Great work! I really love how you created the delta, and the transition from river water to deep dark ocean water, and seconded on the NPU of the grills as waves! ~Insectoid Aristocrat -
[M - A06] Departure from the Dropship.

Wow! I really love this! Both mean and nasty looking! Love the colours! Love the walkway! The use of the green lantern piece is inspired. The action is just wonderful! Great job! ~Insectoid Aristocrat- 27 replies

Ah, it seems Dr. Long is trying out her yellow protective gloves this week! Following in the grand tradition of Octan employees! It seems this galaxy has an infestation. What can I say? She's more of a wet sciences, kinda woman, after all. Lovely build! I agree that it's your best yet! There's so much going on! I love your SNOT BURP! Very effective! Also, the rockwork on the ledge is very well done! Great job! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Aww! That's adorable! Great vehicle, by the way! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Ah, that makes sense. Yeah, I've started working up a stash, myself, but I have not yet used any from the stash. I've been working on the Derelict from the get-go, but I have one build squirreled away for a rainy week, and will soon have more. I usually only get a free second to build on the weekends, which is why I always post so late! I couldn't tell from your builds! You're obviously better at planning ahead than I! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

So, If the rules changes do take place, would that take effect this week, or next week, or when, do you think? It's not really for strategic purposes that I'm asking, just curiosity. Also, I changed my answer to Question A. I think some of the arguments made have been valid, and I think that regardless of the way the rules work, the team with the best builders and most dedication will win the planet. Quick builds just won't get enough credits to dominate a planet fast enough before good builds later in the week beat them down... and if a Corporation plans well enough to have enough good builds for a planet up their sleeve and post them all the day after judgment, then, you know what? That actually deserves a bonus. So, I'm neutral now. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

// "Attention all Octan personnel, this is Dr. Danielle Long, speaking for Octan CEO Jacques LaRose while he is on payed vacation very important Octan business trips. Due to all of your hard work and dedication to our benevolent Corporate overlords, we have amassed enough resources to commence Space Combat training exercises. With Kawashita activity intensifying in neutral space, we are proud to unveil the first two Interplanetary Defense Force ships. All Octan employees should familiarize themselves with Basic Space Combat protocol. Yes, this is mandatory. There will be random inspections. Keep up the good work, co-workers! The upper brass is very pleased."// ~Dr. Long

Hey Bob: did you see my question earlier about being able to speak for the CEO while he's out? It's not really relevant right at the moment, but it would be nice to know. Thanks! I have a question about tech benefits and tags: could a scene which takes place aboard a space ship (like any of the establishing vignettes in my or Pombe's builds) count for the "Spaceship" tag? Even if that's not the focal point of a build? Likewise, if a build features a land vehicle of some kind, like a hovercar, but the hovercar is inert, not in use, or crashed, or something, that would count as a land vehicle still, right? Even if it's more of a background detail? Also, would a land vehicle, like a container lifting mech suit, that is seen in the docking bay of a large ship count as both a space ship, and a land vehicle? Note: I do not intend to recreate the climactic battle from "Aliens." ~Insectoid Aristocrat

On penalty of a write-up to HR from Dr. Long: and that, my friends, is indeed a fate many Octan employees fear more than death itself. And yet somehow a good half our employees are drunks of one kind or another... it's that Pombe character, I'm sure of it... always wrecking Axle Meeting Room E-T0H. ~Dr. Long

Oh, Octan wins that, hands down. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Mccoyed's statement is so true! My strategy in Catan is to be really nice to everyone as I slowly collect largest road. Shame there's no benefit for longest road in this game... ~Insectoid Aristocrat.

Ah! Good save! The story really is nice! Can't wait to see how it develops. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Wow! I really love this cute hovercar! Great work with the shaping and all! The small wings are a nice addition! It'It's got a very 5th element and bladerunner feel to it, so you succeeded for sure! I think I particularly like the front with the "wheel" and the robot arms for a bumper and the lights. That's an inspired section. And I also love your "engine" from the 1x2 "wood" piece. The section above the engine is wonderful as well. It reminds me of the carapace of a beetle. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Love the build, love the story, love the ALIENs. Not sure exactly how this is a spying build... The Alien ships are great! They really do look quite alien! I also love your Kawashita craft. The honking engines are a great touch! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
-
Indeed. I thought it was above Kawashita's honorable standards to baselessly accuse our "nice" Corporation of such a violent act. And we certainly had no ulterior motives when we went to inspect it.... Excellent build! I love the Centaur Mech! And the ship is great too! Very dynamic! Also very large! The rock work is lovely, and I love the shield generator! Wow Kawashita is really gearing up! That's a lot of commandos! Oh! And the foliage is freaking gorgeous! Love that lime and dark green and yellow! Very alien! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Of course! What I really love is seeing others' Alien MOCs! I am so jealous of the talent of those who can make a convincing xenomorph out of bricks, because their organic biomechanical aesthetic does not translate easily into Lego form. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
-
Oh, wow, just looked at it on a larger screen! I didn't even notice it wasn't bottom-lit! That's the power of trans-neon-orange for you! Great colour choice! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
-
Even though I totally disagree with your example, I agree with what you're saying from an objective standpoint. Better builds should be more important than faster builds, even if that's not a strategically useful ruling. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
-
Yes. Very much yes. This is my favorite film as well, followed by Blade runner, and I wish Lego would make an "Alien" set, but there's no way that's going to happen! Too graphic. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
-
This is a really really lovely build! Your colour choices and colour control are fabulous! Those dark red vines and dark tan tendrils are just gorgeous! And I love the bottom lighting! I think every Gueniveir build so far has had it! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
-
Thanks! I do that too! I wanted to capture that biomechanical feel. I love semi-organic looking ships, and I feel that fits Kawashita more than Octan (who I'd associate with a more boxy industrial look.) I chose Octan because when I signed up literally every other post was a sign up for Kawashita! I was the third to join Octan. Literally! And that was on like the 4th page already! but also I don't have hardly any dark red (it's actually all in this build. When I bought the helicopter set with Deadpool, Wolverine, and Magneto, my dark red supply literally tripled. Also I don't have a lot of dark bley. What I do have plenty of and hardly ever used before now, though, is white. Kawashita was my second choice thoughn but I got in on the ground floor of the Octan super corp and I have no regrets! here's to an Orwellian future! Thanks! I knew I wish the smaller red ear was viable in any of these pics. Yup! I immediately thought "chest burster" when I saw them. We'll see them again, I'm sure... It was probably bigger before it crashed! Thanks! They glow in the dark? Huh. I haven't gotten them to do that yet... ~Insectoid Aristocrat
