  1. Those are SMPTE test pattern bars Though, I do believe there's usually more of them, but I doubt they are some kind of foreshadowing on minifig color release. That said, I'd love for them to release some classic colored spacemen. I love how the basic colors work with dark/light bley space scenes, but (well preserved) classic spacemen are so hard to get. And since I live in a country without LEGO store, I'll be unable to acquire the spaceman promo
  2. I'm gonna have to try this out, the rocks look amazing
  3. The whole thing seems a bit stupid to me... Sure, I'm all for green stuff, but the evil conspiracy behind LEGO-Shell partnership seems rather forced/exaggerated...
  4. For separating two small plates, you need to use two separators, the first one attached to top studs, the second one to indentations in the bottom of the second plate (See picture below, couldn't find one with newer separators, but principle is the same). Now, I often just attach a separator to top studs and push the lower plate with my fingertip to remove it, but two separator technique if awesome for separating large amounts of plates... EDIT: I can't grammar.
  5. Thanks! Well, since the usual theme is good guys catching bad guys, I decided to switch the whole thing around for a change Also, I actually wanted to do something with trans blue first, because I picked up a lot of it, but it didn't stand out well enough against dark bluish gray. I may eventually try doing something in lime, though I'm too young to actually own Blacktrons. You may be right though, the color scheme would work better with the cyborg inside.
  6. I have two of the new orange ones, one old dark gray and some in unopened sets. And I just recently realized that the point end on new ones is for tiles
  7. Thanks for the opinion, I also prefer going full studless, but in this case, I actually ran out ot dark bluish grey tiles, because most of my LEGO is not at my flat (space constraints). And yeah, I don't really own that many minifig parts, so I make do with what I have . Thanks! The initial cell structure was actually 7 studs deep, but I decided to shorten it, mainly because angled wall became a problem for the cell roof (shows I have quite a lot to learn regarding building techniques...). If I did a larger cell, I'd probably combine both cell into a large one and add some creature comforts. Let's just imagine that the prisoner is held in some kind of stasis.
  8. Today, I'm presenting a 24x12 studs space vignette titled Spaceship Prison Block Nr. 3. It started out mainly as an exercise in building a wall at an angle and incorporating some curved pieces. It depicts a guard patrolling part of a spaceship's prison block, where one of the Galactic Intelligence Agency's spies is currently incarcerated. Full vignette: Spaceship Prison Block #1 by M1kroMan, on Flickr Prison area designation on the floor: Spaceship Prison Block #2 by M1kroMan, on Flickr Closer look at the cells: Spaceship Prison Block #1 by M1kroMan, on Flickr C&C welcome!
  9. Nice, really love the buildings and the trans-blue water!
  10. I have to dual-boot Windows due to my job (C# + Visual Studio), but otherwise, I run Crunchbang on my laptops and arch on desktop and home server :)
  11. Always glad to see a fellow Linux fan!
  12. I'm currently spread over multi-drawer system for tiles and special pieces, screws/beads containers for my Technic part and various random boxes. I'm currently thinking of separating and restoring my small sets from my childhood from pieces acquired via PAB and BL...
  13. Not sure, but I had this happen a few times, though it wasn't limited to CzR sellers... Frankly, when ordering loose parts, I don't really care how they package it, as long as the shipment arrives complete. Now, that one time I ordered UCS Millennium Falcon, I was worried as hell about the seller's shipping policies :D IMHO, you should focus on your sweet, sweet worries of sorting out your new pieces ;) EDIT: I can't grammer.
  14. Ah, okay, thanks :) Frankly, I'm happy enough to even get to the store and pack a few cups...
  15. I'm hijacking a thread a bit, but I hope it's still semi-relevant. Last year was my first trip to LEGO Store, and I just stuffed my PAB cups as I was in a hurry. This year I'll be stopping by two stores (Berlin and Copenhagen) and I intend to take more time. I've heard of employees bringing boxes from the back, is this a generally normal occurence? As in, can I just ask an employee what PAB boxes do they have in the back?
  16. I know Harry Potter and various teenage-girl books have enormous amounts of fanfiction (matter of fact, Harry Potter FF is one of my guilty pleasures :D ). I believe I've seen some fanfiction pieces on The LEGO Movie at fanfiction.net, but not much in way of quality. That said, TLG's openendedness for themes leaves fans a great potential for fanfiction writing. It is, after all, the very idea of LEGO: Using "generic" components to build something unique and create your own story. Our creations are form one point of view basically fanfiction augmented with MOCs for visualization of the story, especially some ongoing themes such as Guilds of Historica that have their own lore, history and stories.
  17. Awesome! I especially love the cockpit and so much SNOT!
  18. Looks awesome, can't wait to pick it up this summer on my holidays in Berlin!
  19. Hello EB :) I've been gone for some time, mainly due to studying. Since my finals are almost over, I decided to try some MOCing again. The following creation started as an afternoon exercise in wall building and finished as a medieval woodworker's workshop. I wanted to build it slightly bigger, but ran into piece count constraints, as I have a limited amount of my collection at my university flat. Still, I'm pretty happy with it. The carpenter is currently engrossed in a procedure of transforming the two raw planks into a new chair. Behind him, there's a barrel with raw wood and a fully carved chair leg on his workbench. Closeup: Comments and critiques welcome!
  20. Nice, love the color scheme and the bus is awesome
  21. Hot water, soap, toothpick?
  22. Stunning photography! Is that supposed to be the Lonely Mountain in the background? You've captured the feelings of the scene very well
  23. How about the ability to open multiple files? Kinda like tabbed mode or something. I'd take even the capability to run multiple instances of LDD for more models. It gets really annoying when I'm building a large digital MOC and I don't have an easy way to switch between multiple files when designing a sub-part of my MOC (wall sections, pillars, vehicles.).
  24. After being away from my collection and swamped with studying, I finally placed the first BL order in months. I hope I find the time to start constructing my LDD creations...
