  1. That looks good. The wing gives it a GT3 type edge to it.
  2. 5. Stiletto (Enforcers) Brent Burrows is a mild mannered Dragracer by day but when duty calls his car transforms into an Interceptor to react to the Bandits as quickly as possibly and enable the rest of the Enforcer Squad to assemble. Functions: TOG Steering (Thumb-of-God) V6 driving rear wheels in Dragster Mode Side panels and rear wheels pivot to become Wings - transformation by simply unclipping and reclipping Front wing flips to become Canard Top panel lifts (and is held in place by simple flip beam), enabling 2 missiles to be fired It's Technic Figure sized ! It uses 2015H2 Panels ! (42040 Fire Plane) Dragster: Interceptor: Deploying Missiles: Video: WIP Topic: http://www.eurobrick...10798&hl=scream
  3. Jim - can you unlock the Entry topic ? Plan to complete my mode this afternoon and want to get the entry in as I'm traveling next week
  4. I'm using the unclipping and reclipping from pins as part of my transformation. I read the rule to be that as long as structure doesn't become fully detached and a separate part in your hand it meets the rules
  5. Well time for an update from me ... Jim's most probably been expecting one based on some conversations we've had ! So this is a tale of trial and error ... and 4 ... yes 4 models ! While out in Germany on business (a very common thing for me), I saw the competition info posted, remembered how good M.A.S.K. was as a kid and immediately had a brain wave ... I'd do a London Routemaster that the roof dropped down and became a battle platform command centre ... but low and behold someone had posted a superb MOC of a Routemaster that very day (un-noticed by me) and so literally as soon as I'd started this thread I had to come up with a new idea as I couldn't create a base model anything like that MOC. So to idea 2 ... The Ice Scream truck ... Managed to grab a whole weekend at home and squeeze a bit in between travelling for work and came up with my model ... and got it to an almost complete stage with a few bits in the correct colour winging their way from bricklink. "The Ice Scream Van" But again low and behold there was discussion on the forum about the rules of "battle mode" and "transforming" Battle mode - Bull bars, Gattling Gun from the roof and Jet exhaust so after conversation with Jim, and looking at what I created it was retired from service and work stopped on it to create model 3 ! I decided to do something simpler and work out the transformation first ... or at least what I wanted to transform from / to ... and so the jetski / snowmobile was born but after another few nights work and another free weekend without the better half I made some reasonable progress ... The ill-fated Jetski/Snowmobile and then hit the brick wall of frustration and hated the model as nothing was working ... and so to model 4 ! Been in the UK all week and on Monday after a manic day in the office while staring at the jetski debacle I got the boxes of Technic back out and had another brain wave and went doen the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) route and looked back at what made M.A.S.K. cool ... and that evening started on ... this ! The Dragster ... yes I'd changed sides to Enforcers, perhaps being a Bandit was the problem the whole way through This is how far I've got so far ... no idea if it'll be completed in time as don't have any free weekends (ie girlfriend not around) and off to germany on business a lot over the weeks between now and the end of the competition, but it'll definitely be finished at some point as I'm loving the look of the model so far. And its my first Technic Man size model ... Oh and its name ? "Stiletto"
  6. Sorry to burst any bubbles but this isn't going to fly! I'm an engineer by trade and I did my degree in aeronautics and if you haven't done the most simplest of calculations of thrust, lift and weight (you could make some basic guesses on weight based on what size you plan it to be) then you might as well bang your head against a wall as it'll be more productive. Lego is too heavy in terms of its weight vs stiffness and also only really works in tension and you'll definitely need compression members too. For control surfaces you'll find Lego motors or pneumatics most probably react too slowly Also I'd be surprised if Airbus give you any more data than a good google search can provide you with. And as to a Foundation of aviation ... Why ? Lego can't fly ... I've made models of a glider and an autogyro in the past and posted them here.
  7. <says sorry to everyone for posting an "empty topic" declaring my intention for TC7 and then also in that topic changing my mind as someone's done an amazing job of creating the same thing as an MOC> Personally I have no issue with the "place holder" topics for WIP entries to competitions. Some users like me like to declare what we're working on when we get the ideas. But the "I want to build x" or the "will this work" posts could surely be grouped into a "technic help" thread. But that's just my opinion Pictures to follow next week for my TC7 once I'm back in the UK and I've fixed a few things on my new weekend toy
  8. Just found this thread ! Guess what I was thinking for the TC7 contest ! Might need a rethink !
  9. So I was thinking this morning while at work and finally decided on my plan for my Bandit vehicle. Not sure what features she'll have or whether she'll be PF or manual, you'll just have to wait and see. Work won't start till a week today, but thought I'd put my proverbial towel down. Expect initial images some point next week! Change of tactic as I've just spotted the glorious Routemaster ... Topic to be renamed by a friendly mod to ... "The Ice Scream Truck" - Bandits
  10. Going to be a Bandit for me. Mainly as all my while beams and panels are currently being used on another unfinished (well nearly finished) model. Time to come up with a random idea !
  11. Yes looking back at old TV programmes you used to watch as a kid can be dangerous. I used to love Battle of the Planets!
  12. I remember M.A.S.K. was a cool series. Looking forward to the new competition. I hope it has a decent time limit as I'm travelling for work a lot at the moment !
  13. So I assume you've done all the basic calculations for thrust, drag, weight and lift to work out if you have a fighting chance ?
  14. Looking forward to a new challenge too. My Lego building has been lacking
  15. Going to bow out of this one as I'll be moving house around then!
  16. While we're talking seats any good bucket seat type designs. I'll be after some for my next project
  17. Gmshades - I peaked at my first competition where I finished 5th (I think) in the triple competition but it's been all downhill since then. But hey it's the taking part and the challenge of the build to the rules that matters in my mind
  18. Congrats to all the winners and more importantly all the entrants and an equally amazing number of voters. Looking forward to what challenge Jim has lined up for us next.
  19. Trust me there's enough challenge designing and packaging new cars ... I do work in the car industry afterall! But one of my main points is that the majority of the technic models aren't real world vehicles. We only have a very limited no of licences items and so I was equally judging all the models in the competition whether they had a real world equivalent or not
  20. But why should a Technic model be made to look like a specific vehicle / item ? The majority of technic models are generic, so when I voted I didn't take into account whether it was modelled to look like something specific.
  21. 2: 10 37: 6 6: 4 38: 3 5: 2 34: 1 Some great entries, took a long time to get it down to this 6
  22. Thanks Bruno but I can't see where the xl motors fit in your picture
  23. Ok so 2 motors of the same type either side of an output shaft Sounds perfectly simple thanks Next q what's the best motor to use If I go for a twin motor system and don't have rc buggy motors ?
