  1. That's annoying that someone used your code when it clearly says on the site only 2 uses. But as you say pity all it unlocks is a certificate to print and some wallpaper
  2. http://www.lego.com/en-gb/technic/codebreaker Only has 2 uses per code according to the website
  3. So Jim what does the code unlock on the website ? IMO It would be rude if anyone else has already used it!
  4. I know lots of Porsche owners / fans at work and they're all put off the price ... they're not AFOLs so the price seems even steeper than usual for a box of ABS (as Jim put it). To some of my nonAFOL friends £200 is a lot for a Lego set.
  5. Definitely a Claas above the Porsche ... Bad joke I know! But this or the huge digger are more UCS than the Porsche
  6. Going to pass on this set. I'm a huge technic and car nut and I actually have the benefit of going to weissach quite a bit for my job so I know a bit about Porsches and also with 20years in the car industry know how they're built. Although a Porsche isn't my favourite sports car I was interested in this model. But the cost of the model and the flaws in its operation and some gaping holes in the body mean I'll give it a pass. I'll be interested to see if this is a start of a UCS Technic line and if so what is next. I think I'll buy the Claas instead as that seems more impressive to me.
  7. Congrats to the winners Shame I couldn't enter this, life has been too manic recently. Fingers crossed for the next competition.
  8. "Personalisation" colour means any colour sir or madam would like on the car. We offer a huge range of colours on the cars I work on and also offer a personalisation colour thing where you can make up your own including colour matching. I think customers have had cars painted to match handbags, dresses, lipstick, all sorts !
  9. 14 : 10 3 : 6 8 : 4 10 : 3 16 : 2 4 : 1
  10. http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/porsche/911-gt3/first-drives/porsche-911-gt3-r-hybrid This is what I think it'll turn out to be The Porsche development hybrid race car
  11. Working in the car industry I love the fact that the initial model has been release in a disguise kit like we normally do in the industry. Wonder what the final car will look like. Might not even be black as I know a few people use black for prototypes How about orange and white like the Gt3 hybrid racer ? Just searched on YouTube and found a video from Lego world with the 24hr race car racing a 911 from 4 months ago. Guess that was a hint! Sorry if this has been already posted or commented on months ago
  12. Don't think I'm going to be able to get an entry ready in time. Been busy with moving house, friends wedding, Christmas, girlfriends birthday and decorating the house and building a shed load of IKEA furniture I'm finding a distinct lack of time to do any Lego. I got as far as making 2 bags of a few bits, wheels and "engine" and a crude idea of a funny car and drag racer to make something prettier than the new model. But that's it chaps ... Hopefully join you for the next comp
  13. Found out how small the box is when I found a blueprint of something I thought about building and then realised even on its smallest scale it would still be 17k in size! Back to the drawing boards
  14. Depends how you define normal ? If a buggy has a chassis that is pitched due to its suspension you'd measure it on its wheels with the body angled. If I have an aircraft with a non-retractable undercarriage which also puts the fuselage into significant pitch when on the ground how is this different ? Just thinking with both fixed landing gear and tailplane I could really use it to be measured when on its wheels in a "displayed" condition
  15. I like the idea of posting pics with a beam box around it. Not sure if this had already been asked (so sorry Jim if it already has) but I assume a model sitting on an angle in a box is ok. So for example a plane where the fuselage is heavily inclined because of its undercarriage. So you'd measure it as sitting on the ground and not along the length of its fuselage ? I took the rules as being as long as it fits in the volume box its ok
  16. Epic - why not have the front end loader as model a and the dump truck as model b? I assume as per a standard Lego model that not all of As parts have to be used in Bs ?
  17. That's a beautiful set. Definitely going to add that to my collection. Think it's the only 2016 H1 set for me so far, disappointed with the Funny Car with its front end, silly exhausts and cheating wheelie mode.
  18. I had a panic when I first read the rules as to how I was going to make a model to fit in a 10 cubic stud limit. Good old differences in writing large numbers! I'd write 10000 Some would write 10,000 Haven't seen 10.000 before I have to admit
  19. Oooh I might have to get my thinking cap on. In terms of those dimensions what official sets fall into that "box" ? I have the crane comp a miss. Glad I did as I'd have made a very poor version of a spider crane.
  20. So Jim (or Milan) how is a crane different to a hoist ?
  21. When is a crane a crane or a hoist a hoist ? What I'm thinking of is often called either
  22. Still thinking about doing these. Would be the Williams and the MP4 for me. If he could do a Lotus 97T too that would be the perfect trio for me. A couple of q's Do the parts for the models cost a lot ? How do you get stickers for them ?
  23. 9: 10 16: 6 18: 4 10: 3 11: 2 14: 1 Good Luck everyone - was difficult to only pick 6
  24. Jim - in terms of your superb final stats you give once the voting is over can you also work out which side one the battle as we're evenly matched? Shame there's not a lot more pro builders, was looking forward to what some of the geniuses would create
  25. I'd like to see it outrun Stiletto
