[TC18] Big Block V8 Hotrod
Seasider replied to 1gor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@I_Igor I think you need some form of bodywork to come part way up the door but whether it’s liftarms or panels you’ll have to widen the body behind the seats to attach these. Or you could make them flow into a partial rear wheel arch -
[TC18] Monochrome Roadster
Seasider replied to Seasider's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
They’re definitely different, it’s just that it’s a pure side view and so doesn’t render well. If you look at the front wheel you can see the difference best. -

So I managed to get some more CAD time and I think I’m finished. Stud.io model contains everything apart from the new Diff. A shot of the interior Rear End shot, not sure whether to include rear indicators or not I’m also unsure which side of the wheels to use ... “6 spoke alloys” or “steels” most probably not the best image to show the difference Time to get out my parts trays and see if I can actually build this and nothing is floating! -
[TC18] British Classic

@ukbajadave - no a mini model competition, not a build a Mini competition. It was years ago. But for it I did a Mini! Found my original thread ... -

Thanks everyone, yes it’s a bit of old and new school meets. I’m a big fan of roadsters and open top cars in general, one of the first things I built for this model was the roll hoop (similar to the one I have on my real Mx5). This model was always going to be about free styling it rather than copying something as I generally prefer that challenge. I’m not sure what the back end is going to look like yet. It’ll be a challenge given the trans red/orange/clear pieces I’ve got and the fact that I want the back to be stubby, and it all has to hang from the top because of my rear suspension setup. Next photo update most probably on Friday -
[TC18] British Classic

That’s a great rendition of a classic Mini. The did one back when we had the Mini model competition, but it was very square. -
[TC18] Monochrome Roadster

Yes that’s a Morgan. My girlfriend bought me a factory tour and test drive a couple years ago they’re amazing to drive, so raw. but the wood frame is a common error. The chassis frame is steel or aluminium depending upon the model but the body is built of wood and then covered in metal. They’ve recently released a new line of cars off a new chassis but they still look like that, no need to change them. and yes they’ve been around a long time, 10 years longer than the car company I work for -

Well that’s ok @Jim as it’s got a dark grey interior @I_Igor I was actually thinking more like a Morgan or a roadster that doesn’t have doors. Hopefully I’ll get time over the next couple of days to work out the rear deck and what the rear face will look like. the challenge is getting it all adequately supported considering the potential rear diff movement -

Small update ... enjoy -
@brickless_kiwi & @vectormatic the current generation of MX5 is the ND. @Jundis it looks good so far, can you make the rear shorter by moving the cabin back a bit. If you look at the real car the boot / trunk is very short and the cabin sits closer to the back of the car. having test driven an ND I’d buy one if I didn’t have my NA :)

Eurobricks event 2020 Billund information topic
Seasider replied to Holodoc's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
@Holodoc - Do you think we’ll be able to convince TLG over the space of a year to provide something better than what they were offering? If so I’d put my name back in the hat for attending in 2021 -
[TC18] Monochrome Roadster
Seasider replied to Seasider's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So I didn’t get to make any progress over the long Easter weekend as I spent most of it in pain suffering as I’d put my back out, but thankfully I’m better now. But I did some thinking during the week and I switched to stud.io and had a few hours today to attack it and this is the output so far. I quite like this so far but not too sure of a few things. Do the grilles remain chrome or perhaps go black or light grey. If they go black I’ll change the plates behind them otherwise it’s black on black. For the front splitter I’m not sure on white or black. Finally I’m not sure if this will remain as a Roadster, it may morph into a fastback coupe. Hope to get some more cad time tomorrow -
I’ve no idea what that car is but it’s not an XJR-19 as that doesn’t exist. It looks like the image is from a computer game of some sort, could be a Tata race car as I’d say that was the main logo. It looks like a late 80s-90s Le Mans car but could be something from a completely different series or even just made up, or someone painted it to be a Jaguar in the game. looking forward to seeing what you come up with though

[TC18] Merсedes AMG (Red coupe)
Seasider replied to LoMaC's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I do love the AMG they make an amazing sound but they do try to kill you a lot! only word of caution is I think your engine is going to sit too high. At the scale you have you have 6 studs for total bonnet height and 4 at the nose. Ok the amg engine sits right against the bulkhead but I think if you look at how tall your engine is you’ll struggle. I know that I did on my build so far -
[TC18] Monochrome Roadster
Seasider replied to Seasider's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is the distraction in the office. I’ve done a series of 20 Daily Lego funny posts to my work based car club Facebook group so I’ve had these guys and girls to keep me company on my desk. And yes the 1 stud difference I think will make the model look so much better. But I’ve had to change the whole chassis to do this. -

Seasider replied to Seasider's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I wasn’t happy with the bonnet height on my model so yesterday in between meetings (my home office is also the room with all my Lego) I came up with this. The engine lowered by 1 stud which was achieved by offsetting the steering to 1 side, the right of course. You’ll also notice I’ve changed the large frame to black, raided from the Defender that I’ve not built yet. I’m also thinking of changing all the engine mount to black too. This weekend I’ll start again on the front end. Still not too sure which side of the wheels to use, the spokes or deep dish, of if you use black or white. -
[TC18] Mule (wip name)

When you mean working motor do you mean a fake engine or an electric motor to power something ? because in this competition you aren’t allowed any electrical powered stuff -
[TC18] Monochrome Roadster
Seasider replied to Seasider's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So only a little update from me from a couple of hours on Saturday. Today has been a day of relaxation in the garden. I did a little bit of work on the chassis. Then started on the bodywork. I think it’s ok so far. Part of the problem is the engine height. I might have a new look at the steering and see if I can get it to run down the side of the engine to enable a drop of 1 stud. the other problem I found is I don’t have the curved panels in white and I’m not going to bricklink any at this time. So I’m thinking I might SOS these panels (sticker over sticker) and hope the white stickers I add peel off and don’t damage the originals from the vette. Also been working on a roll hoop to go behind the driver.
