[TC17] Taxidermy
Seasider replied to Seasider's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Drivers seat and steering wheel done. I think I’m finished, just a single sticker to make when I find my sticker sheet! Just need to hope there’s some better weather/light next weekend for some nice photos. Part of me is also thinking that once this competition is over I might try and turn this into a proper Austin TX4, but most probably manual and not powered. -

So I’ve had a good day of building thanks to Dennis (a storm), I started by trying to get the servo motor, battery and Sbrick mounted. Then worked on the front end to get the grille designed and then finally I worked on some Mad Max adds. So here are a couple of teaser images. Plan is to try and squeeze a drivers seat and steering wheel in tomorrow. Enjoy -
[WIP] Space Shuttle
Seasider replied to Jeroen Ottens's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That looks great. Where are you going to hide the motors with such a large open space as the load bay of a shuttle ? -
42111 - Fast & Furious car
Seasider replied to Kaanere's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That’s definitely an engine where the back seats should be. Looks like a modern lump too -
42111 - Fast & Furious car
Seasider replied to Kaanere's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The hellcat wide body still has the engine under the bonnet. The car in the film might have it in a different position, for stunts etc like they often do with film cars -
42111 - Fast & Furious car
Seasider replied to Kaanere's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I still think the set is more likely to be a 1970 charger rather than a modern one. The 2020 wide body is the hellcat charger -
42112 Concrete Mixer Truck
Seasider replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The skip truck was a lovely mid scale model. Hopefully the new mixer is the same scale. For some uk mixers you could carry most of it straight over -
Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Seasider replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Affecting the regular sets is a problem for me. The ultimate car series I’m not bothered about. But I would like everything else to have a b model including other licensed sets -
It was just a general observation from me that’s all, not meant to be a criticism, I like pretty much everyone’s entries so far. They’re all very odd ball in their own way. It was a bit of a morning brain dump while having 1st coffee of the day. As to the rules ... actually in mad max world aircraft do exist. In the third film (thunderdome) and I think the second there is a small light aircraft.

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Seasider replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If you go on brickset you’ll see the original sets back in 1977 had a main model and a b and sometimes c model. All of them normally appearing on the front of the box. So the loss of a second model is a bad thing in my mind. For the ultimate cars I don’t mind this as it’s all about the licence and a single vehicle. -
[TC17] Taxidermy
Seasider replied to Seasider's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
No it doesn’t have an upper arm on the rear suspension. The hub is rigidly fixed to the lower arm, so the wheel camber angle changes. Yes our skilled wasteland engineer has put all the rear suspension outside the body. Mainly as there’s 2 XL motors just inside the bodywork here. I’ll try and create a chassis only render at some point. -

I haven’t worked out how to connect springs in Stud.io properly. The free end attaches to the 2L red axle you can just see on the rear axle behind the disc -

Seasider replied to Seasider's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So the problem with trying to work out the rear suspension, not trying to have the wheels too far from the body and how do the forces react, means I’ve totally redone the rear quarter area. Hopefully tomorrow night I rip the physical model apart for this “small” update. New problems ... body bending stiffness (ironic if you knew my job) ... and Time ! -
42111 - Fast & Furious car
Seasider replied to Kaanere's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It hasn’t been about car culture for a long time. It’s about how ridiculous an idea can they come up with involving cars. I love the films. -
42111 - Fast & Furious car
Seasider replied to Kaanere's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Why would it be a Mistubishi ? I always think of Brians car as a Supra, especially as that's what he drove off into the sunset in -

Seasider replied to Ctan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think it looks great and I love the fact you had the perfect place to take photos. But part of me thinks it looks a lot like 41999 Boss crawler with a big engine and a crane on the back. -
42111 - Fast & Furious car
Seasider replied to Kaanere's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If it’s a black old car then it’s Dom’s charger. He’s had a few in the films, some with a massive blower, one was jacked up on off-road tyres and another was an ice racer. But they’re all based around a 1970 Charger. -
42111 - Fast & Furious car
Seasider replied to Kaanere's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So what if the F&F set isn’t a Charger or even a Charger and Supra double pack but a generic car design like the Top Gear Rally Car? It could turn out to be something with a big blower engine or bright colours, graphics and a silly wing -

Time for an update for me to show you all what I’ve managed to get done in the last week and a half since my last update. The answer is on the surface not a lot. I took the decision last weekend to start building in physical to see how things were fitting together. This showed I’d got a lot of missing pins or pins in conflict hidden in my CAD model. Yesterday I managed to have a major session and with a couple of hours today I now have the front suspension complete, the Fake engine connected in and the front doors are no longer floating. Next jobs are: Finish the front end Work out the rear suspension Work out how to attach the rear quarter panels mount the servo motor, battery and sbrick make a seat, dashboard and mount the steering wheel Mad Max it further ! enjoy the photos ... -

Does anyone have a handy guide to the compressed length of the various shock absorbers ? In particular the 9.5L Unimog and the 6.5L "in both Normal (grey) and Hard (yellow)
