  1. I wonder how many people will buy all the Toa and their Combiners... Nearly $50 for the beasts alone and then another $85 for the 5 Toa, plus $30 for Kopaka+Melum; its going to be one very pricey wave! I'm liking the designs though, but since I already dropped money on the six 2015 Toa, I still don't know if these are different ENOUGH to justify the second purchase. The only sure buy for me so far is Umarak, since he is a new character and comes with the Mask of Control.
  2. Makes me wish two things: 1. That my sister was still 7 years old and not 18... Then I could have bought this for her and gradually pulled her down the Lego path... 2. That Lego didn't use mini-dolls for these sets, they make it hard for somebody who collects the other Lego themes to justify a set like this for their figures since they don't mesh to well with the standard figs. Very nice review, might have to get this for the Halo sword alone. (just kidding)
  3. New Star Wars sets, another wave of Bionicle, the re-released and corrected Wall-E, Speed Champions, the Marvel Superhero sets (NEW IRON MAN FIGS ), and the Brick Bank modular. However I still have not lost hope for a train set in 2016; even though we have no news or rumors about one. (Just visit the Train Tech forum and watch our crazy speculation going on, you can tell we really want to see one for next year)
  4. Mockingjay Part 2 in theaters (that was fun), and last night I watched bits of Star Wars Phantom Menace with some friends (snooze... Wake me Episode VII arrives!).
  5. I own a few HO Trains, and hope to someday build a layout: and for that project I see realism would be a nessessity. As such Lego Trains fall somewhere closer to the play side of things for me, although I"d love someday to build a prototypically operated Lego layout, even if things are for play!
  6. My Favorite Themes for this Year: Marvel Superheros, The LEGO Movie, Star Wars, Bionicle, Ideas, Speed Champions and Creator Expert Best Sets in My Opinion (including those I don't own yet): Double Decker Couch, Detective's Office, Temple of Airjitsu, Dr. Who, Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder, and General Grievous. Best Minifigures: Ant-Man, Iron Man Mark 45, old Han Solo, and ALL IDEAS FIGURES. My Least Favorite Themes for this Year: Minecraft (I actually enjoy the game, but all the sets look lazy) Worst Sets this Year: Skull Scorpio, Spiderman vs. Sandman, any Minecraft set. Biggest Let Down: Wall-E an otherwise excellent set plagued by the neck issue and quality control issues followed by a recall, here is hoping that when it is re-released it will be fixed well so it can become one of the best sets of 2016...
  7. There are a few experts on this in the Train Tech Forum. I'll see if a MOD can move your post over there.
  8. There have been a few Designer Videos for the Bionicle sets released recently, that showed up on the frontpage of BZp a few days ago.
  9. Jess Harnell as Lewa? Hmm, I only know his Animaniacs work so I wonder what he'd normally sound like.
  10. Ninjago though is a big hit with the kids, and although I'm not a fan some of the sets do look interesting. Plus not all of Lego's late themes were a mass success, for example Galidor, Studios, Jack Stone, Ben 10, and more. If anything Lego has more hit licencesed and original themes now than it had 10 years back (when only Star Wars and Bionicle had large sell numbers).
  11. Here's a picture of 60052 next to 10219: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=6340797 While it is several studs shorter I think it is still in scale, just looking at the size difference in real life between a GP-40 locomotive and the larger SD-40.
  12. I own 60052. While it isn't a masterpiece like the Maersk Train was; I love it to! It looks like an American style diesel engine. The two flatbeds are fun to switch cargo onto, and the gantry crain is a decent addition. The cattle car is a little silly though, but I love the excuse for a Texas longhorn cow in a Lego set! 60098 is an alternative to the 60052. I don't own it, but based on the pictures it is stylized like a European train, and also includes some construction accessories. I don't own 60051, and don't have to much interest in it since I already own the very similar (but more complex) Horizon Express, so you'll need somebody else's opinion on the set. I do own though 60050, which is a good station set to accompany any Lego train. I have a review of that on Brickset here: http://brickset.com/reviews/49266
  13. I'm actually kind of okay with Tahu's colors: Jaller Inika and Tahu MoF did nearly the same thing and it kind of worked. What I don't like is Tahu's swords, those just look wrong. The water creature (Akida?) is my favorite creature, it just looks like an actual fish. Looking at the pictures on Brickset I can see that there is also a new brainstalk!
  14. Very well done. But now I'm also curious about the picture of the Amtrak Superliner and the Auto-Racks at the LUG layout, all three of these trains are spot on!
  15. WHOAAAA. That's all I can say.
  16. Besides for kids it would be easier to use their transparent Lego crystals as raw Mask material, then pretend that a glow in the dark disk can become a mask...
  17. A mis-molded Darth Vader head where a corner of the head is flattened instead of the perfect circle on a normal head. Oh and an Orange Kanohi Vahi, which I figure isn't THAT rare compared to some stuff on this thread.
  18. Yes. The Saturn V would be an awesome model; however I fear the proposed model is a tad to big. However, I would love an official Saturn V set, since I didn't get the Saturn V from the long gone Discovery theme. There are a few more Apollo themed sets which have popped up on Ideas which are smaller, and I hope if Lego passes the Saturn V for its size, that another (albeit smaller) set can make it to 10,000 and pass! Also the H.M.S. Beagle would make a good set; but I worry that it could stir up controversy in the evolution debate that is happening especially in the American Deep South... I wouldn't feel that the Beagle would insult my beliefs, but I know that there are people out there who would feel bitter about it. Also I would like to see The Yellow Submarine or the Nautilus pass; but licensing issues and the size of the Nautilus are prohibitive. I don't think Lego though would be concerned about the Rock N' Roll antics of the Beatles though, especially seeing that David Bowie, Queen, and Spinal Tap where depicted in the video game Lego: Rockband; or how The All American Rejects were used in a Bionicle Ad campaign back in 2006.
  19. Please be a Dr. Strange set... Smaug shouldn't be Benedict Cumberbatch's only Lego stand in...
  20. Nice! Judging by the trains which pass through my area (which are loaded by ships in Los Angeles and then shipped across the US); it is rare to see all the containers being from the same company, so I think this mix of colors on your ship matches the real thing a lot better.
  21. Better to have some variation with the designs to from year to year. Anybody remember the difference between the Toa Mata and the Toa Nuva? Just a few new silver pieces and mask; everything else was almost spot on the same as the previous design. Better to have these new figures be different, to justify making a second purchase; because if they weren't that different it would be very easy for the consumer to say, "But I already have one!"
  22. The extra weight should also increase traction if I'm not mistaken; allowing for even longer trains!
  23. Dang you Lego, my wallet is getting worried!
  24. Yeah a nice hint on what to Google. "Bionicle 2016" only brings up old news, half of which is a link to a ridiculous Toa Mahri Return in 2016 joke on TTV, or a Bohrok 2016 joke...
