I can't promise anything was a 100% replica but the grandest of the windows was based on some of the features at Raglan Castle, or the artists impression of what they would have looked like in the castle's heyday. The smaller defensive "slots" are common in the castles of Edward I in Wales. Also, the lintels and surrounds in bley was a nod to the fact that more expensive and stronger imported stone was used for door frames and windows in castle construction.

2018 is something of a landmark year. The LEGO Brick as we know it is 60 years old. The Minifigure has celebrated its 40th. Something that may have been missed in all the excitement is the fact that set 375, Yellow Castle was launched 40 years ago. @Rufus has shared his project to restore the classic set, and I had a chance to discuss my plans with him at the Eurobricks Event this year. For it's anniversary year I decided to create a tribute to that great, classic, set. Oh, and I took it to an actual castle near me for a photo-shoot. I live and grew up in the ancient Kingdom of Gwent, or a more recently, the Historic County of Monmouthshire. An area much fought over by Welsh Princes and English Kings. Thus, there are a lot of castles around me and they featured just as much as LEGO in my childhood. I displayed this build at a local event and created flyers for people to look at. Chepstow, Goodrich, Raglan and Yellow Castle Now some stats! The whole build is 82 Studs in length and 40 Bricks high from baseplate to flagpole tip on the tallest tower. The whole build took me several months, on average I would build for about four hours a week. Digging out the bricks I wanted (just so much yellow!) and building with a few sketches and a lot of ideas. I have spent years building MOCs and visiting castles; Last year I visited a fair number of Edward I's Ring of Iron, so I had a good mental picture of my end result. The printed flag was my only project specific purchase, everything else was already in my collection (Twenty Five years and counting). I used pretty much all of the yellow 1x2, 1x1 and 1x3 bricks I own. Not to mention a lot of light-bley arches. I chose the Black Knight's flag as I love the design and the colours complemented the build and custom created the second flag using two LEGO logo stickers from the many unused sticker sheets I have accumulated (from set 3221). The printed flag decided what colours I would use for the waving flags, Red and Blue are good classic colours. This is the best view to pick out detailing on the Keep of the castle and the styles of window built in to the structure. While only the grandest details and glazing will do for the Keep, home of the Lord and his family, the other towers have more practical and defensive considerations. Now it is time to visit the castle. The rise in the land made a perfect vantage point to build a fortress, but an approach has been worn in over the years. After the castle's founding, a defensively minded caretaker decided that a Barbican would be useful to keep the main castle secure. The large doors can open wide to let welcome guests in, but the guards maintain a watch just in case. You can spot a treasure under the castle, secreted long ago. The moat splits the castle and the barbican, the drawbridge allows people to cross but can be raised in an attack. An axle can be turned to pull the chain in through the arches and raise the drawbridge. The tall castle gate sits within the strong gatehouse, guarded from above by stalwart men. You can also see the Lord of the Castle through the gates. A closer look, you can see the Lord, his daughter and son and a member of staff. The well supplies the castle with fresh water all the time, saving it during siege. Opposite the well is the door into the Keep and behind the lord is an archway that leads to the wall walk and either towers. This vantage point lets you see the Great Window for the castle Hall, the Lord's quarters also have a detailed set of windows and there is special stonework atop the keep. The staff and guards go about their business as the young lord plays with a dog. The Kitchen Tower is closest to the well and has a great chimney for the large cooking range. It can provide meals for the whole castle. The tower room is part home, part office for the Steward of the castle. He ensure day to day life runs smoothly at the castle and is second only to the Lord and his family. Of course, there are plenty of staff and residents of the castle. This smily chap is one of them. He is quite at home here! This Build has honestly been my largest project to date, both in scale and volume of bricks. Not only did I want to celebrate the milestones of LEGO this year, the landmarks of my home and the possibilities available with the most basic of LEGO bricks. But I also wanted to mark my 10th year of EB membership with something big to share with everyone.

I think I understand your point. Maybe you can start incorporating it in "places of honour" in builds and MOCs. The Knights become the honour guard, the spacemen the captains of the crews. That way you know which is which. But yeah, those guys are special. I keep everything combined in my collection, but I have been without a dark age, so my childhood collection is my LEGO collection (wow maaan, deep). My MOCs still use parts that I have had for 25 years and parts I bought just a few days before.

Hi, as deraven said, we don't have space for uploading more than an avatar image. Also, this thread would be better placed in the Help section, so I'll shuffle it over there.

[MOC] Twisted Time Train
Peppermint_M replied to sander1992's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I admire your dedication to a theme that even I find confusing! These builds are very cool and fit right in with the original theme itself. I thank you for sharing, you are a true fan of Time Twisters. -
Ideas for New Action Themes
Peppermint_M replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
That is dedication there! Yes, I would love a new racing theme still. The Speed Champions are nice, but I like Wacky Races, Speed Racer and well, Mario Kart! -
If anyone is good at creating these sort of graphics, I would love to see examples. This is the kind of idea that can make the forum more fun.

Action and Adventure Themes Discussion
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Honestly, I don't expect to see much for a while. Harry Potter is taking up the fantasy slot, for as long as it lasts as a theme again. That is probably what did for Elves (along with sales figures) as it takes the market space and target consumer. With Overwatch coming along and all the more Superheroes, the market is packed with action story themes. There might not be any need for LEGO to put out more offerings other than Ninjago. Alongside the fact that City has had the more Explorer niche filled (Undersea, Volcano, Jungle, Mining and now Arctic) there is only a chance at the Action and Adventure style of story series turning up in those themes. Unlikely since these are pretty recent products. Of course, something entirely left-field might arrive for x105 Black to hate. No one expected Elves or Nexo Knights, but they did happen and they were actually quite different and "off pattern" as it were. But the cynic that I am believes that Licensed products are taking up all the product slots, so we're at Ninjago or nuthin for the time being!- 230 replies

Treasures of Action and Adventure
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Indeed it is exactly what I have in mind. No one wants the forum cluttered up with a lot of bumped old threads, but I still want people to express opinions on things. So posting that embedded link lets others take a look without filling the first page with old stuff.- 4 replies

Action and Adventure Themes Discussion
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
@Aanchir He was poking at the index. I have made an index of all the action and adventure themes, they are a diverse bunch and I wanted to make things accessible, so I grouped themes. If you take a look at the pinned index, you'll see what I mean. I split the discussion from the index to avoid getting depressed. Aquazone is Action and Adventure. It has been since the inception of the forum, before we added Adventure to the title of the forum. In fact, Adventure is the most recent addition to the title (See my Moderator Rank tag), put in place when Historic did not want Elves and we were unsure if Elves was going to be action packed.- 230 replies

Action and Adventure Themes Graphics
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
It looks like people want a little of everything, also, the Vs idea sounds cool. So who just has to feature in the banner? At least one character from each theme on both the good guy and bad guy side. I am going to go right ahead and say Johnny Thunder has to be there. Any more opinions, or am I going to go ahead and make the picks myself -
Action and Adventure Themes Discussion
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks Holodoc! I have long wanted to have a place for everything and now people can find all of the excellent creations members have shared over the years. If you take a look at some of the index thread dates, I have been working away since July, and that's just on the threads. There are 77 pages of threads here in Action and Adventure themes (Except when I change my topics per page...) and I had to check every MOC to see if the photos were still live and to see which theme they belonged to! Then sort them into some kind of accessible order. Hopefully people will enjoy hunting for treasure here in Action and Adventure Themes.- 230 replies

Spooky Theme in 2019? Scooby Doo Return?
Peppermint_M replied to kelceycoe's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Is there any kind of evidence out there? Has anyone mentioned noticing this in a leak? If there isn't anything to back it up then this is baseless speculation, so not something for this part of the forum. -
Mine has some Hero Factory and Chima showing up again. Plus my sister got hold of one of the "Jungle Rescue" Friends sets. I keep paying attention to the clearance outlet, always a good idea for discounted older sets.

Your Customer support stories...
Peppermint_M replied to Bublehead's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Here is a fun one, it isn't mine, it is my brother-in-law's. He bought the Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ. Settled down to build it. After about a certain point he noticed a strange gap appearing in the wall, it got a little worse as he built. Now, I live down the street from my sister and her husband and pop by quite regularly, in fact that day I was simply at home. My sister told her husband to message me and maybe send a photo to see if I could help with the problem. But no. He had to call CS and explain this issue. At the time, the HQ was brand new in stores. He had bought it on release day. So reporting a problem like this mystery "gap" in the wall sent everyone into a spin at Customer Services. After all, this could be a major problem. In the meantime, I heard about the "issue" from my sister. I know he is something of a sloppy builder, not lining the bricks up very carefully. So I pointed out that the slight misalignment could cause problems with tall walls. And thus the problem that caused something of a CS panic was solved. -
