  1. An "illegal build" is a technique that puts stress on an element in some way. LEGO parts have designed tolerances that allow them to function as designed and intended. If you use building techniques that force the element outside of their design limits, it creates stress on the part and can deform or damage the part over time. So LEGO designed sets would not use the technique to avoid problems. We as fans merrily break the design rules if we are naughty
  2. You can mount a baseplate and secure it like this. I found it pretty useful when I worked it out.
  3. That looks like something from Minimates they have those sort of accessories. There was also a construction series of toys called C3 that seemed to use minimates figures in some sets.
  4. I think you need to calm down some. Might be good for blood pressure and stress levels to not get so worked up about purchasing toy construction bricks online.
  5. Full disclosure: Current Favourite Ice is Frozen II (My sister got me the polybag, she is a good sister ) Terrible photo aside, I met the deadline!
  6. Please don't go using this as an excuse. I was going to leave this thread alone, but plenty of us here (myself included) manage to contribute to the forum and participate in discussion with ASD themselves. (Asperger's being the outdated term in current neurological science). If you feel the only choice here is to leave, that is your perogrative. Regards.
  7. This is a difficult one. While there was a one Bond product, it was not a whole line, so the set was a one off. Special Themes often becomes home to builds based on properties that do not have an official home, but this is a MOC based on a Spy action story and Action and Adventure themes would house any future LEGO Spy/Secret Agent theme. So it can stay here. Putting it in Licensed would bury it in Super Heroes and Special Themes covers a lot of bases, so it is not an exact fit. It is a great scale and a brilliant build, the rock technique is excellent. Now, maybe turn these skills to a Tracey Island
  8. This is a superb build! I love the lighting, it makes a build come alive and has been well applied here. Thanks for sharing
  9. I have time to build with some days off I'll have something to add soon.
  10. Most others do not have a history of being rude and directly insulting/attacking other members. They also make use of the emoticons to indicate that the tone is joking and not serious. Keep that in mind for the future perhaps.
  11. Do you have to be rude about everything and at every opportunity? I know you have been asked to dial it down more than once. So this is a final request.
  12. Unikitty blindbags are in Poundland. They might have been an odd series, but the parts are pretty useful and in lots of interesting colours.
  13. My family are finding it greatly amusing. One of my brothers put it thusly: "Local Woman Angry" It is interesting that EB was searched as a source too.
  14. Guardian Of Brick Freedom I was quoted in an article by the newspaper The Guardian. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2019/dec/20/lego-accused-of-muscling-in-on-fans-after-bricklink-takeover Now I shall live on in infamy! Foog must have done this one.
  15. Achievement Unlocked! Quoted in The Guardian.
  16. That is one of the things I have been concerned about and I believe a few others did too. We were a little laughed off by some, but now with this stifling MOCs of IP products- It might just be a matter of time before it all gets complicated regarding old licenses and anything that might infringe current licensing agreements.
  17. @AMD I think that fixed it.
  18. Just placed an order for a batch of customs, here is hoping it all goes through. So, looks like I wasn't being over the top or pessimistic with my predictions. I am a moderator, so I can totally say: TOLD YOU SO. Srsly man.
  19. Ok, so now you're all off topic it seems. Rehashing the same old arguments that have been trod since Tyco Bricks were taken to court. I left the thread here on request as it was related to Technic, now that it isn't, I am going to lock it.
  20. Ah, Rock Raiders cannot be twenty years old! (Farewell my fleeting youth...) A worthy tribute to a theme I fondly remember! Thanks for sharing.
  21. June is no problem for family events, I plan to come. I might have to do some heavy thinking about BrickWorld. (Please have a Windsor event again! Then it would be easy for me)
  22. @Brickadeer I have edited the post, mainly as I wasn't sure what to do at first! How I managed it was by adding a few blank lines between the spoiler and your paragraph, I put the "spare" in as a marker. As I am using my laptop, with a cursor you can activate a little Move icon for the spoiler box, I clicked and dragged it below the "spare" and I have left the "spare" in place so you can overtype it easily. I might play around later on a phone or another touchscreen to see how to make it work in there. (in some of my workspace I have, no worries about your post!) So, now we both know what works on a computer anyway!
  23. Pick A Brick, Build a Minifigure, the German Park has Fabrick which can be a source of parts for many resellers. Then, there are people who have the time to search Yard Sales, Garage Sales, Flea Markets and all kinds of other places with people selling alongside Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree and Craigslist to buy used LEGO collections. Then they gather and sort what they have to sell on. High demand figures like Superheroes or Star Wars can often cover the cost of buying a gallon of used LEGO from someone. Other sets and parts are just bonus earnings. A part like that does not command high demand, so they can sell a bulk lot. It came in 53 sets over 9 years. That includes Advent Calendars, smaller City sets that cost less than $10/£10 and plenty of the under £20/$20 sets also. It could easily work out that an average childhood collection from someone who was interested in LEGO between 2003 and 2012 to have at least 5. It would only take someone who has a business "flipping" used LEGO (AKA, buying second hand mixed lots and selling on sorted sets/parts) a few batches to get 50. I have 11 from just collecting LEGO during those years, my brother who is 18 and was getting LEGO then has at least 4.
  24. Well, you are welcome to have a negative opinion of everyone, but I prefer to think positively. I think that most people do not rob a bank because it is a bad thing to do and would cause fear and problems for normal employees, people just like themselves who do not need a day like that. I think that fans selling to fans, in the most, would try and do right by their customer. I'd say your best chance of 100% perfect and unaltered sets is to travel to the distribution warehouse LEGO owns and purchase a set at the door, fetching it off the shelf yourself and checking it before you go. After all, anyone could have tampered with it otherwise (by the philosophy you have presented).
  25. Ok, can you keep on topic? We (the forum users) are here to discuss the acquisition of Bricklink by TLG. Not your ranting and rambling about issues you have encountered on Bricklink. By all means take your topic into a new thread and I will happily move your posts related to the matter there. However, it is super frustrating for myself and probably other users, to have to wade through a lot of posts about something right off topic. Welcome to business! I may have mentioned elsewhere, but I work for a company that fulfills FREE deliveries of medical equipment to people and the amount of crap I take on the phone from people for no actual reason (Especially as this is helpful and free equipment designed to make their life easier) or because we can't pinpoint the exact minute for drop-off time, etc and etc (the list goes on). Then you have the people who think they are the only service user so we need to drop everything for them and them alone (Rinse and repeat). I believe there are whole sites dedicated to stories like this "Not Always Right" springs to mind.
