  1. Sand Red and a Sand Purple would be lovely additions, as would a Sand Grey kind of shade, local stone is a grey sandstone so many buildings use that. Some darker purples (favourite colour) and more transparents. Pearl White/Cream would be delightful. However, what I mostly want is there to be production of every hair piece in every colour. I love variety in hair and am far from conservative about styles and colouration! The old grey shades cannot ever return (sadly or not to some) as the dye that made them has lead in it. Of course, the rules now rightfully ban lead from anything that would be around children, even if they would probably have to have the brick lodged in them for decades for any lead to cause problems. Can you imagine something made solely out of Coral? The fluorescence would be dreadfully magnificent and possible summon some Lovecraftian Elder-God!
  2. I am holding off on booking flights. These "precautions" are making it difficult to commit to any plans. Hopefully, if things are open and we can move again, work will be beyond the point that demands cancelled Leave. Currently I am on the list of staff who can come in and work at the depot (not "at risk" and not currently ill). As we deliver for Hospitals, we are a required service. Anyway, here's hoping!
  3. I got a pile of polybags today! Some for me and some for my sister who is Self Isolating (Asthma means she is at risk now) so she can be entertained. Nothing super exciting, but nice little treats.
  4. I have not checked my own keyrings. Most are all glued together, I might have some time to look at them tomorrow.
  5. Does it look like it could have come from a keychain? There are techniques to "kill" the glue or otherwise get it off. That or you are lucky to find some odd loose ones that people might have encountered. (picture nicked from eBay)
  6. I think we are more incredulous than "scared" as it is not a possibility to purchase the forum in the way you would go and buy anything else. As for thread location: It is fine here, it does not need to go somewhere else.
  7. Excellent shaping and very good presentation. I like the techniques you used and the overall impression is great. Thanks for sharing. (The MOC, I do not fancy the actual virus, I had a stinking cold/flu in November and I am happy to wait six months until my next one)
  8. I feel old. (I never did understand Vine either!) Right, not sure what LEGO/Eurobricks could be done on that. Maybe if I am stuck at home for 14 days I could give it a go I'll need something to fill my time.
  9. There is never enough LEGO, just not enough space! I prefer to build my own things and I have a (small) dedicated space to MOC in, as LEGO is my main hobby there are not many things to distract or take that space. Really, even if I could not continue to purchase new LEGO, I would still enjoy and use my collection as it is. I would just desire the new colours and parts
  10. AS @KotZ said, I think LEGO is a niche enough hobby that anyone who really wants to talk about it in a real way will find a forum that caters to the fandom. Hopefully that forum would be Eurobricks. The forum must still get some decent ratings on a search engine for a national newspaper to grab quotes from it. There is a bit more effort to run an Instagram page to attract people. Makoy is our Social Media guy too As for Tik Tok, if I had any idea what it was I think I could form an opinion?
  11. So, shall we get back on topic? I really do think forums are simply losing user-base refresh due to the younglings preferring their Snapchats and their Instagrams and this new-fangled TikTok-er they all seem to be on. My younger brother is old enough to be an EB member and loves LEGO as much as I do, but he has very little interest or time for a forum like this.
  12. I don't know why you need to bring me in on that? If you are going to be silly, we can take the chat to somewhere a little more "socially isolated" where Staff can try and help you resolve the current issue? And a strain of a respiratory illness is not as scary as Weil's Disease or C.Diff (Hurrah for bad disease as a workplace risk!), I'm mostly wondering if work is going to get harder or easier in the next few weeks.
  13. Pretty much. Admin guys do the software things for the forum like updating security and creating tools to help us Moderators. Moderators try and help members with any issues, keep the forum conversations running smoothly and coming up with activities and fun stuff when we can. Regulators do lots of index work and other smaller jobs. We all put our heads together for forum-wide issues and help each other out in the sections we look after if needs be. We see reports, hammer the spammers and help the newbies with problems. Some issues are easier to deal with than others Thanks for that I can't speak for everyone, but it is a passion for LEGO and the community that has me keep on going. I love to share my love for creating MOCs and to see that passion from others also.
  14. There is no single owner and no single entity in charge of the forum so it is not for sale in the way you seem to think it should be. Believe me, I would say the exact things face to face as I post on the forum. Which is why I strive to maintain civility.
  15. It depends on the context. If you are making incendiary posts for the sake of causing controversy, you are being a troll by definition. If people find your posting style aggressive, they might react in kind.
  16. This is a discussion forum. If you don't want any kind of response to your posts (opinions or otherwise) then it is best not to post at all. If people use truly insulting language like you mentioned above, report it. Then it will be dealt with appropriately. If you are reading a reply to your post and interpret it as an insult, well, that is the issue I highlighted in my post.
  17. Everyone here is a volunteer. We spend our own time trying to run the forum and keep it interesting and fair for all members. I would say what is causing a decline in forums are the two issues of younger internet users not interested in the forum format and a societal increase in offended/defensive discourse. Teens and young adults don't generally engage with the forum style. They have moved to different types of platform. Then, there is a great increase in people getting offended if you do not agree with their opinions. Any "challenge" to their opinion is an attack. It makes discussion difficult at best, argumentative nonsense at the worst. Thus, forums slowly fall out of favour.
  18. I am a MOCer through and through. I buy sets for parts and most of the time I also build them. Due to the way I MOC, what I like for my style, I prefer to work with diverse parts and parts I own. So buying a set because I like the array of parts and colours (including minifigure parts) is my way of stocking up my collection. Of course, this is a collection built over 26 years that includes more than one purchase of mixed lots, PaB wall raids and visits to Fabrik in LEGOLAND Germany. It is not exactly a collection created solely of sets and the parts they provide However, I do build (nearly) all my sets that I purchase. Set building, for me, is something of a mindfulness exercise. The mixture of instructions to follow, tactile parts to manipulate, satisfying clicks of bricks snapped together and mechanisms with results at the end, work wonders to calm and quiet down anxiety attacks that come on from time to time. My stockpile of sets were an absolute tonic when I was particularly poorly and if I have been having a rough time of life, a new set to build will help. Building sets also lets me see techniques the designers use and some of the uses for new elements. With my memory being quite sharp, I can recall what is in a set after one build so when MOCing, I know where I could find a part I need, or confirm that I have it somewhere after tear-down. (The LEGO Movie Master Builder Vision is a good way to explain it). Sure, for a giant or very specific project, I do buy in bulk or from Bricklink to fill what I need, but I find it fun to work within what I own too.
  19. @ks6349 you bumped a thread for a pretty irrelevant reason considering it was simply for a topic you mention in every single thread you can. Locking this.
  20. Opinions are opinions. Someone who presents their opinion as irrefutable fact and accuses others of criminality needs to reign it in a bit. Something I have noticed over nearly nine years as a moderator; people have moved from discussion of their respective opinions and the opinions of others to instead throwing their opinion out there and accusing any sort of opposing opinion as an attack. Anyone challenging an opinion with a factual return or a different experience/approach is accused of an attack. Sure, this is reflected in society as a whole. However, people are welcome to express opinions but if they start mud-slinging moderators will step in. Also, all this does not change the fact that a thread was necero-bumped for trivial reasons. Something the forum rules cover, mainly the rule is: Don't necro a thread without good reason.
  21. You won't. @ks6349 what possessed you to post in a three year old thread? If it was something new to add then the post would be valid. However it seems to simply be another of your rants that border on the paranoid. Then you set off on attacking members and accusing them of criminality. If this is going to be a continual problem. We might have to have a more formal chat.
  22. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1984), Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1993) Are two massive media properties that have been trundling on full of Ninja. G.I. Joe had Ninja characters in the 80's with the action figures. Ninja have been a massive part of Pop Culture for decades and certainly a subject for toys and children's media since the 80's if not the 70'ss. But it was the 80's when US advertising laws meant that there was an explosion of 25 minute toy commercial shows (That had everything from the action figure it was created to promote right down to paper party cups and plates). Ninjago just drew on the tropes of what came before it, knowing full well that boys of their target demographic loved Ninja, Colour Coding and Elemental Powers. The discussion at the time when the first leaks of the new Ninja theme (and was upsetting to castle fans who wanted the 1998 Ninja Theme back and saw the Ninja figure in CMF series 1 as a sign of this) actually called it LEGO Power Rangers from time to time. (I would know, I became forum staff because someone needed to look after Action Themes now a major new theme was up-coming that "belonged" in that sub-forum). That LEGO have created a real success that even survived something of a "bomb" of a Movie tells us a lot of what kids seem to like playing. Also, to stick my oar in on the Thomas The Tank Engine debate: If Ringo Starr is not narrating and doing all the voices, it just is not Thomas!
  23. Truly the architect of my childhood. Many themes you named are fond favourites that occupied many afternoons and still inspire me today. The Minifigure is actual design perfection, always and forever iconic and recognised. My condolences to his family, his legacy will continue to bring joy to so many people.
  24. Lots of kids these days want/need to relate something to what they already know. I have seen it for years when displaying MOCs. The Agents themed spy-car gets called out as Avengers (The great big A is wot did it), the colourful spaceship that was queried as Overwatch (I will admit, there was some shaping inspired by D.VA before the theme existed). Anything that is certainly matched to an IP proves hugely popular. Sure, my big castle was admired, but I was asked if/when I was going to build another Batcave now that there is a whole LEGO Batman film. Yeah, it is a small sample of people in my local area attending a local event. But if that is seen as a cluster that repeats across all markets then it is a pretty loud voice when marketing takes a look.
