  1. Should I start a thread where we can come up with non-infringing names? Acquaintances. Large Population Centre. Smaller Population Centre. Archetypal Cosmic. Shooting themselves in the foot if they want to maintain a community or any goodwill, TLG will have a lot of work to do if this doesn't improve over time.
  2. I don't want to say it; but I wonder what all the people who thought we were being "negative/chicken little/making a deal out" of nothing now think with these changes?
  3. Ah yes, "protecting" a fan resource by stifling it with corporate regulations.
  4. I think another way to put the comparison of the two sets: it is similar to comparing the Galaxy of Adventure Han Solo figure to a Black Series Han Solo. Both are an action figure and both are the same subject. But designed for two different markets. Sure, you find them close to each other in the toy aisle, but that doesn't change the reasoning behind it.
  5. Right, I removed those ones. Looks like it is some old stuff. Like we recommend, a host is better for a lot of things. Attachment space is for an avatar mainly. Weirdly, there is no link on any profile for me to view member uploads, hence why the link you sent was the "my" link (So, I was taken to a page of contest banners and graphics ). Sorted the issue now hopefully.
  6. No, that leads to my attachments. You have a thread or post where you first uploaded them and that will be the source I need to remove them from. As you said, one thread is locked, so you certainly know where you put some.
  7. It would help if I knew where the attachments were uploaded?
  8. Point 1 - A Dragon has 7 limbs (Wings, tail and 4 legs) a Wyvern has 5 (Wings, tail, two legs) so it is not a dragon at all! A lot of literature is guilty of messing this up! #seriousbusiness() Point 2 (One I am surprised no one has covered yet) - The Game of Thrones sets are not designed for children. These are sets for adult collectors ('cos it would be pretty messed up if the intended audience of Harry Potter was also watching Game of Thrones). The Harry Potter LEGO is designed with the age group of 8-12 years old in mind, so the complexity of the build has to be targeted to that ability. Also, design parameters for a toy for kids, as apposed to a model kit for the adult collector, means the design has to hold up to play use. The Game of Thrones Dragon is intended to be built and put on display to collect dust for a decade (or until the cat knocks it down) or put away. The Harry Potter set is created for kids to re-enact the book/film scene complete with action features. Now, if we take a set that is a Dragon, and it is the focus: 70653 Firstbourne is an impressive beastie. No "technology" weapons and as I own the set, I can tell you that the saddle and chains are designed to be taken off for easily so the Dragon is unfettered and free. It was a joy to build and the only "action" feature is an unobtrusive and impressive mechanism to make the wings flap in sync. So, yeah, LEGO does not create and sell Dragons for the discerning adult collector; they are making some pretty cool dragon designs for their target audience.
  9. Alrighty then, no linen or towels for me please.
  10. If it is optional: No thanks. I have allergies to certain detergents, so I always bring my own things to avoid problems
  11. Do you have space for a Peppermint then The bakery at the supermarket is nice, there is also a few good places in town to grab supplies.
  12. Of course, I will swap the bricks from Cobi to LEGO
  13. I have some goodies to donate. Also, I have located a building game I can bring along
  14. So, I propose that once something concrete is found, the A&A thread can become Monkey Kid and this thread left as it is. Here is discussion on all three unnamed themed. In A&A the discussion is about what should become Monkey Kid.
  15. I can honestly sleep anywhere so if the village knocking off breakfast is a clincher for you; I am happy to share in any accomodation. Whoever I am roomies with
  16. I will have a shift through my hoard to see if there is anything worth bringing along for a prize pool or parts swap also! At the very least, I can keep an eye on the super low price reductions that can get slapped on sets in some places here.
  17. Sometimes it is not fun to be right about things. (Even being a Cynic, it is still a no-fun surprise) I love our building contest and the traditional Rat Spitting. How about a treasure hunt activity? It would take a little planning, but can encompass the public places in Billund that are nice to visit. I do wonder if this is the new way to deal with the AFOL community as a whole, bar the sycophants they can corral in for "media days".
  18. Sign me in for a chalet. A bit rubbish on the breakfast though!
  19. Yes he does. The complex printing means the figure parts are in a bag within the bag.
  20. I would say that things have changes so much because the consumer has changed so much. We look at these diorama presentations with fondness through our own nostalgia, (which, in any subject, we are associating the thing with the security and comfort of being a child with no responsibility or grasp of the wider world around us at the time.) Now, there is new advertising philosophy and different laws in play. Not to mention that kids and their focuses have changed so greatly to what we had. 25 years ago I was only able to find new LEGO sets from what was on offer in the toy shop I maybe got to visit (maybe once or twice a year), or in the Argos book. If I was lucky enough to have had a new set purchased for me, it could have a little advertising sheet inside the box. If I was really lucky, or we were in an honest to goodness LEGO retailer then there would be an official LEGO catalogue to look through and enjoy. Now? Kids the same age as I was 25 years ago can look at LEGO online on a whim. They know who to look for on Instagram for the best leaks and probably get someone in their life to follow the official LEGO accounts on social media for brand new product reveals and videos. They have apps and games that feature the current sets in new and interesting ways. A diorama would be impressive in person, but a static image is not as attractive as it once was.
  21. LEGO purchases today were a Mister Miracle and a Bat-Man from the figure series. Still waiting for more new sets in ASDA, they usually have the best prices locally. Also, Poundland had the DC Lil Bombshells for £1 each, so I picked up six! Now, there is something that would be cool to see in LEGO form eh?
  22. It is. This is the place to chatter about any old thing. So, new micro machines? I am so there! I hope they are as good as they were originally. I have been really disappointed by the Tonka mini trucks that are all plastic, or the poorly detailed micro cars that Tesco supermarkets sell. I adored micro machines back when I was a sprog. The mini city in a lorry was one of the most amazing playsets out there. Does anyone else remember the retail display tubes that were just clear tubes filled with the vehicles? Community section can be about anything (within, y'know, polite limits). If you are ever concerned with a thread or a post, feel free to report it.
  23. Really a good rule of thumb for this forum is: will it be too techy for history based sections, too weird for City/town and not IN SPACE enough for SciFi.
  24. As a general rule, multi build sets are in separate bags. So one vehicle is in the one bag with a minifig and the other is in a different bag.
  25. I am not sure? The thread in special themes is for three different codenamed themes. If this is an AR theme, chances are it will fit into the Action and Adventure template. Of course, we can change the name or location if this theme no longer matches the A&A section.
