LEGO Nexo Knights 2017 Discussion
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Looks like it is time to start fishing for photos for the first post. -
Fantastic! While the moulded dinosaurs have their appeal, that Dino shows just how great brick-built is.

Quality was excellent, family members kept asking if any of it was real LEGO. There were one or two leg looseness issues and the old misaligned feet or belt prints but overall good printing, good moulding and interesting figures. I am planning on a proper rundown later in the week. I'll include a photo of a minifig in a the headgear too.

All my Westward Journey figures have arrived! Anyone want some specific part photos, make requests now.

LEGO Nexo Knights 2017 Discussion
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Maybe that is the point? Not sure how close to the story the sets are for the next series (Either App or TV...) But if he was reformed but is now off with a bunch of new baddies then maybe there is a reason like possesion. -
Right. Done.

Here, here, here three threads that have already brought up issues that are then stretched out into every issue one can come up with in regards to gender and LEGO. I too consider myself a feminist, but I must be on a less shirty spot in the spectrum as I am absolutely loving all the current minifigures that allow females to do what they want and look like women while they do it, instead of gender neutral blocks. I grew up wishing for a way to make more girl figures so that they could populate my MOCs. Now I have more than I'd ever dreamed! As mentioned in an earlier post, LEGO are damned if they do and damned if they don't. "Not enough women in sets!" turns into "Why do these figures look like women? I am angry!" If figures had remained utterly neutral then they would be criticised for being old fashioned or ignoring diversity. -*- I'd like to post as a note also: I displayed at Comic/Geek Cons recently. Many of my MOCs had female figures, in fact, if you don't count the empty Batsuits in the Batcave, I had more women than men on the table. Boy and Girls, Men and Women, Fathers, Mothers, Daughters, Sons were all equally enchanted. They were just as likely to get excited by the Batcave as they were the stone circle with a Disney Princesses Merida figure in. Not one boy told me that an adventurer car should have a man driving not a woman. Not one girl said it either. In fact, no one seemed too concerned that I, a woman, had built everything. They commented more on the potential size of my LEGO collection, the length of time I had been collecting and building, transporting the builds to the event and the details I had included. It was a refreshing experience to see what people on the street and not the rather "involved" fans think.

Alrighty then all closed down. Stay tuned for results!

NO. Nope no. It isn't sexist to point out that women are a different shape to men. It is sexist to say a woman can't fight fires, or crime or do science or engineer or pilot planes/spaceships/giant robots. Now, so far this year I have been able to purchase a female knight with a whacking great mace. A female ninja with a motorcycle. A woman in a smart business suit. A woman with boxing kit, an Ice Queen, a thief. I have a geologist/volcanologist, a firefighter and a police officer. There is an evil pirate woman, a bigfig who is a female character and two lava monsters. So, that looks like women get to do plenty. Not meaning to rant, but as an lifelong FOL who is also female I get really fed up of this kind of thing. From media outlets, blogs and other fans...

EB Event 2017 - Dates and Location
Peppermint_M replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
I should be able to make it. I enjoyed the last trip to Germany. -
And yet, my sister who loves the series thinks those figures are "so cute" (Then again, she also adores Sugar Skulls and Undertale and my family always has had an odd idea of "cute") I recognised them and this leads me to a thought... If these figure creators are moving on to popular animations: How soon until I can get a Sunset Shimmer minifig?

Will Chima return to the world of LEGO
Peppermint_M replied to brickmerchant114's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Hi. Please can you use punctuation and capitalisation? It makes your posts very hard to read otherwise and its part of the Site Guidelines, requesting at least basic grammar. Thanks. -
Ah well, never mind. Maybe one will arrive in future.

Quick question: Has there ever been a Terracotta Army figure? I am eyeing up the Three Kingdoms figures as my next purchase, but I would love it if there was a Terracotta Army I could build, or even a single figure for a museum MOC. I really do wish LEGO would produce more Asian culture based things, Ninjago is nice and all for architecture, but I want something more grounded in reality.

Mostly it depends on if you have something useful, pertinent or helpful to add to a discussion. Another good rule of thumb is how many pages back a thread is. If its more than three, have a think as to if you really need to comment.
-
Yes, you can use other figures but it has to be Simpsons related somehow.
-
Okay, mine have shipped and it is going to be so cool! Yep, but this is a LEGO fansite so we are avoiding issues with TLG.
-
Yes.

A link that is part of a discussion on the non rip offs isn't a problem, you are not signposting people to the fakes but to the other kinds. If you say: Guys you can get Ghost Rider and all the Helicarrier figures here!!!1 and post a link, that is bad. If there just so happens to also be all the Helicarrier figures on the page, but you are linking to the original appearance Nick Fury that is on the list, it is not a problem.
-
It was the discussion and linking to the rip offs that were the issue. A link that is part of a discussion on the non rip offs isn't a problem, you are not signposting people to the fakes but to the other kinds.
-
You can link the stuff that is not ripping off actual Lego figures you know.

It is the spooky season once again. Come and take a look at this fangtastic contest in the Licensed Themes forum.

I think that would be fair. It keeps everyone happy. Meanwhile, one full set of Westward Journey figures are ordered! I'll post a review in here once they arrive. Though I think there is a high chance that the heads and accessories are just going to be "custom" with regular LEGO.
-
Oooh, Journey to the West and Romance of the Three Kingdoms? It looks like I'm going to be grabbing some figures.
-
Links are fine, heck, you could make a whole thread to show it off so long as one image is posted here!
