I'm keeping a look in. Game figures are fine, there are hundreds of characters and all sorts of variants that will never be officially produced, so feel free to talk about them, It really is just figures that are from official sets that haven't got a place here. By the by, just where can I take a gander and maybe pick up some of those Monkey King figures?

Here on Eurobricks we love to give our members cool prizes and we've got a treat for you. Two LEGO Dimensions character packs are up for grabs! Treehouse of Horror is now a Halloween tradition, so it fits the season! What I want to see is some Spooky Simpsons builds. We can see the folks of Springfield enjoying the festivities, representation of our favourite alien visitors or some creation of favourite tales from the treehouse. All you need to do is follow these simple rules: You need to be a member of Eurobricks who joined before the 20th October 2016.. This is a fun thing, so have FUN! The MOC needs to have at least two (2) original Lego pieces in it, NO clone ones. You can build either with real parts or use LDD, MLCad etc. The MOC needs to be new - no recycling here please - just fresh stuff. The entry must be posted in this thread before 10 pm GMT, by the 4th of November, 2016. Your entry must include one image (and only one image) and be no larger than 800x600. One entry per qualified member. All members including the Staff can join, all but me that is Two random qualifying builds will be drawn after entry closes and the creators will win the prize! So get building and have fun.

[MOC] Tibetan Monastery
Peppermint_M replied to Jellyeater's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
*picks jaw back up* My word. What a Spectacular MOC! Not only is it the ever stupendous Johnny Thunder, but that looks accurate to the locale, faithful to the architectural style and well detailed while still keeping things like clean lines. The landscaping is evocative of just the mountainous location and I love that little detail in the corner (Yeti mama loves her baby, awwww). All I can ask: Could we get a picture of the brave adventuring crew? -
Staff views on knock-off discussion and promotion
Peppermint_M replied to Sven F's topic in Forum Information and Help
I said pretty clearly: You can discuss it if it does not copy LEGO designs and LEGO products. EB is able to offer great contest prizes, create A-class reviews and offer opportunities from LEGO because of a good relationship with TLG which we want to keep. Individual IP issues will be tackled if there is a case to answer to, i.e a request from the rights holder to remove it. You can call it protectionism if you like. I am trying to give the fans of more modern military figures and the like the chance to carry on a discussion. -

Right now it is respecting LEGO products. Of course if IP holders serve a cease and desist we'll have to re-evaluate. There will be a bit of a grey overlap, but personally I find all aftermarkets to be just as "grey" when considering this issue. For now, we play it by ear and I hope I can trust everyone to be sensible. As for everyone going on about a LEGO love in? Uh... It's right in the headline. Eurobricks Uniting LEGO Fans around the world. A little hard to miss. If things had not been pushed so far, by the "fans" and the Bootleggers, then we'd not have had to tackle the issue. -

Peppermint_M replied to Sven F's topic in Forum Information and Help
If they are not products that are not replicating TLG designs, then they are a permissible competitor product. I noticed that a lot of these brands make figures based on modern military forces and more eastern cultural stories too, something TLG does not delve into. A thread covering those sort of figures would not fall foul of the rule. -

Clone brand kind of stuck back in the day to the likes of Tyco and Megablocks. Change now might confuse the issue further. and yes, LEGO pinched the original idea, fiddled with it a bit and became better known. They quietly swept up the patent when trying to shut down another brand and admitted as much. It was only recently that it was properly acknowledged. -

The competitor product would be permissible. Set designs and themes that are original are not rip-offs, though it would not be a good idea to point to ways to access their previous bootlegged product. -

Peppermint_M replied to Sven F's topic in Forum Information and Help
That would be rather difficult as there are hundreds of names out there that change regularly. The best rule of thumb: Is it an exact copy of a LEGO set, past or present? Is it a copy of an existing or past LEGO minifigure design? If yes, then it is indeed a bootleg and we do not want it here on EB. -

This was the result of staff discussion and input from myself (A dabbler in brick comparison ). If anyone has any questions, this thread would probably suffice. -
LEPIN brings out Monster Fighters HAUNTED HOUSE (16007)

This thread has been locked. Updates to the site guidelines and the site-wide announcement are as follows: Clone Brands, Competitor Brands and Bootlegs: A Clone brand or competitor brand, is a product manufactured by a legitimate company. For Example Oxford,Mega Blocks. Kreo or Character Building. These are companies that do not infringe copyrights and provide a competitor product, such as licenses and themes LEGO do not produce. It is fair to discuss, compare and share these brands and their products in the Community section of the Forum. Bootlegs, Rip-Offs, Fakes: Bootlegs, fakes, rip-offs. These manufacturers copying LEGO and other legitimate companies set designs and minifigures. Using stolen designs of sets and figures, they produce replicas of the real deal and sell them at knock down prices. There are hundreds of names attached to these products and varied quality between them. We will no longer accept discussion and sharing of these products on Eurobricks. Most of these "brands" are facing legal cases and are not something we want on Eurobricks -

LEPIN brings out Monster Fighters HAUNTED HOUSE (16007)
Peppermint_M replied to ericb's topic in Community
I think the Figure issue is more a case of niche interests filled. While a large number are indeed copies of actual figures in sets, there are plenty of characters represented that TLG will not be producing in a long time (Age of Apocalypse X-men, Fantastic Four etc) or replicas of figures from the games that have never appeared in physical form. -

I'll move this across to Community. But this topic is getting pretty close to the no-mention list. -

We are working on clarifying the issue. I will say though, it is not fear, more prevalence and increased discussion that is turning a novelty into an issue. -

Peppermint_M replied to ericb's topic in Community
Ok guys, this is getting beyond a joke. Bootlegs are not competitor brands, they are not legitimate. You can argue plenty that TLG should forgo good business sense for your convenience and sense of entitlement. You can delude yourselves that the producers of these sets are not criminal, it is not a myth that bootleg producers of all kinds of products are linked to other more serious crimes or criminal operations. However this is not going to change the fact that this is a LEGO fan forum and Lepin is stealing the hard work of designers from LEGO and making profit illegitimately on the back of others success. If they created their own designs (You'd be surprised how many Bootleg companies rip-off more brands than just LEGO) then they would be a legitimate competitor and fair game. You all know I am one to be happy for a Clone Brand (I just wish my supply line had not collapsed with the recession closing so many discount stores) but bootlegs like this and the huge support shown are a line that you guys are crossing a little too gleefully. Now they are STEALING the work of fans and MOCers. We who work as fans to build something we wish to share for fun or to grow an idea. Something we spend our time and money on to get just right. Then someone with google and greed steals the instructions and sells sets it to make a profit. This is worse than opportunists trading on AFOL instructions. So this is a warning, take it elsewhere, share it in a place better suited. -
Lego Ninjago 2016
Peppermint_M replied to LegendsOfNinjago's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
We don't get much in the UK... The magazine may provide the figure at some point, but it is not 100% going to happen. Cube exclusives are a pain too, we don't get those or the figures in them. -
LEGO Nexo Knights 2017 Discussion
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Halting production of the old sets doesn't mean that they'll scrap all the stock. There just won't be new stock once it is done. -
There is a thread in this very forum.Called Usergroups and Tags. I'm wondering why you felt the need to ask instead of looking at the handy pinned thread at the top of the forum.

Is Pharaoh's Quest worth picking up?
Peppermint_M replied to RetroInferno's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
It was a good theme, but the prices can be over the top for MISB. If you are buying for collecting the sets then I'd go for a pro/con list before you buy. If you want the parts to build with, I would say look out for unsealed sets as they rarely miss too much but are a good price. The plane and Rise of the Sphinx are nice sets, if you can find a good price on them, they work as good tasters for the whole theme. I loved the cobra set too, fun to build and looks good without any changes. The figures are great in the pyramid, but I was rather underwhelmed by the design and the reliance on the stickered moulded baseplate was frustrating. There were some neat techniques, but you can get those from the instruction book online. The stickers were nice enough, but even years on, I only ever applied them to the columns as it felt wasteful to put on the baseplate. This is assuming you are one to like stickers too. Hope I didn't throw too much of a spanner in the works, but it is my honest opinion and I bought the whole line. -
LEGO Nexo Knights 2017 Discussion
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
You know, this is a Nexo Knights discussion thread and not a place to help people use a forum? I the Information and Help Forum there is a lot of tips on how to post and share pictures. After this update, you can simply drag and drop photos you have uploaded to external picture hosts. So, go take a look at the Help threads, some are in the new member section before you hit 10 posts, and they'll give you the information you need. -
OH GOODNESS. Pasting from Excel? If that works for OpenOffice too then all of the Action Indexes are going to be updated so hard they won't know what hit them. A fresh forum feel calls for fresh indexing (She says with all the motivation of a 23:10 energy rush before bed...)

Displaying at events: How to get started?
Peppermint_M replied to Exetrius's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
One big note: Be ready to improvise. Barely halfway to the city and I had to brake suddenly. It broke what is essentially the centrepiece of my MOC display. I am talking complete ground zero. But, once I had the box on the table and the base of clear, I got fixing. As my sister called it: "Getting your Wyldstyle on." The MOC may not have been what I started with this morning, but it is a build and others setting up their comic stalls (etc) were impressed at the phoenix rising from the ashes.
