[Software] LDD Manager
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Maybe this could be used? http://www.brickforge.de/software/brickstore/ -
Thanks everyone. And it's like LuxorV writes - all this will lead to is that I do more work

Hi Welcome to the LDD forums where all the LDD nerds hang-out I think we allready have a topic for these sort of thing (the Tips & Tricks one), but let's here what the other LDD gurus here at the forum think. For the time, I'm going to change the name of this post, and we'll see. Hope that's OK Regarding your question - No, it's not possible to add custom graphics. It would sure be a cool feature, but I'm guessing it be difficult for Lego to handle. If people start using bad content on the the bricks in an Official Lego-tool (even thought digital), there could be problems.

[Software] LDD Manager
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hi Jan Yes, I understand perfectly. It is something I've thinking about too. But the question is how do you get a list of parts from the sets you have? And it has to be BrickLink, because part ID's may be a bit different from Peeron and BrickLink. Naturally it's easy to implement a function to manually add and keep track of all your parts in LDD Manager, but wouldn't be very much work to add them and keep the list updated? -
Thanks ADHO15 for clarification. I updated the first post. PS: regarding brick rotation, have you noticed that when you rotate a brick and put it in on the workspace, the next brick you pull a brick from the palette it will be rotated the same direction. Personally I don't even know if this is a good feature or not. It's kind of annoying sometimes.

Don't know if you allready knew this, but here's a tip to get a better view of the minifig head decorations. Update (thanks to ADHO15 for clarification): When you use the "decorations" tool, all the heads may be turned to the side which makes it difficult to see the graphcis. But if you right click in the list of all heads, you can rotate them all so you get a front view instread.

This is becoming ridiculous. The activity on this topic is too much I goto bed, only to wake up the next morning with FOUR new amazing entries: We have to put a stop to this @Jan - A stunning and mind blowing model. Amazing work! PS: Can you summarize which nine parts are missing, please. @Randal: That Tumbler composition is the coolest, most badass stuff I've seen in years. @ADHO15: Excellent work - is this the start of you making the SW mini series? @JunkStyleGio - looking forward to that truck. It's kind of cool that you make models that are so extremely new. Actually, you know what you are doing here guys. In addition to creating an part inventory, you are also geometrically placing the bricks in the right place. And how can that be usefully? Well for one, you can use it to solve an annoying problem: You know when you're building a Lego model (with physical bricks) and you end up with one annoying left-over brick? With the LDD models you just open that model in LDD, drag the left-over brick from the palette to the scene and use "Shape Selection tool". Now you can see exactly where the left-over (or missing) brick is supposed to go.

LDD Statistics at Eurobricks
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Absolutely brilliant idea! This would defintely be a super topic at the forum. How to enhance the model and how to optionally place it on some nice background. I'm sure a lot of people (including me) would like to learn that. -
WIP - some fine old automobiles
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yeah, I know. I think I'm not going to make the diorama with minifigs in it. It will just look bad. We'll see how it evolves. -
Hi LDD geeks Just thought you might be interested in some LDD statistics from Eurobricks (up until June 2, 2010). - Since the start of the LDD sub-forum a few months ago there have been 1003 posts and 67394 views. - The LU mode activation info has been downloaded 3382 times. - LDD users have now re-created 84 official Lego sets in LDD. - There has been four LDD Design Challenges and one (soon) LDD Design Contest I think that's pretty amazing. Just a few months ago there was nothing, and now this.

[KEY TOPIC] LDD custom bricks
Superkalle replied to Zerobricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I can change the topic title. What shall it be? Then I guess Zbjl can get started with some help from Calabar? -
[KEY TOPIC] LDD custom bricks
Superkalle replied to Zerobricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Good point I think there should be a small image (Peeron image?) also in the index so you visually quickly can look for "your" part. OK, so maybe we don't need the index topic since this topic was actually started by Zbjl and he can edit the first post continously with info according to Calbars post. Have I understood it correctly? -

Aha, I thought so. Yepp - that's a feature I've been wanting for long time -
Importing Official Set LDD Files Into Lego Universe?
Superkalle replied to DLuders's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Hi dluders. Great to see you here also I think it's a very intersting question you ask. I know is that it is technically possible to import LDD files into Universe, at least during development when the worlds are built and populated with objects. That's why the Universe mode in LDD is called just Universe Mode, because game developers have used LDD to build many of the models in the game. However, if there will ever be an in-game possibility to import your own LDD models I don't know. The same question goes for the other way around, if you can export models from Universe to LDD-files. -

What do you mean exactly. There is a grouping function allready, but I suppose that's not what you mean? -

Yes, all cars have wheels in the back, but to to fit, they had to be smaller in size. -
[KEY TOPIC] LDD custom bricks
Superkalle replied to Zerobricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I think an index topic for alternative parts is a brilliant idea. If one creates a group of the parts too, they can easily be selected as one part. Who can maintain it. Zblj? The person who shall maintain the index should probably start the topic it so he becomes the owner with edit rights. When the index topic is created, I can see if I can pin it (don't know if I have the power, I'm just regulator, otherwise I will fix it). -
ADHO15's LDD MOCs
Superkalle replied to ADHO15's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Wow, excellent stuff! And the fotball game is just brilliant. I'm deeply impressed -
Here's something I've been working on the past few weeks. I was thinking about making a diorama, perhaps a Vintage Car dealership with buildings, signs, parking lot etc. A always with my MOCs, they are built using only Lego Legal techniques and designed to resist being played with (no flimsy solutions for me). The cars are all 8 stud wide, the smallest I could do but still retain a realistic look. I have been inspired by photos on the internet, but the Lego designs are all original (as far as I know, haven't seen anything like it on the internet ) The cars (click to see originals) 1925 Rolls Royce Phantom 1952 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud ca 1939 Ford Coupe Custom Next step is to order parts and build them. The only problem I have right now is the tan color - the 1x10 slope and the cheese slope does not yet exist in tan. And using white instread doesn't look good. To round off with, here is screenshot of my LDD workspace. I like to play around with colors schemes which is basically only possible digitally. There are also some alterantive fronts you can see. In the middle is a ca 1950 Ford Coupe in Yellow that I'm working on. You can also see how I've layed out some critical parts and the color they exist in.

[KEY TOPIC] Wanted bricks in LDD
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Aha, now I understand. The reason this is not possible in LDD is because LDD strictly enforces "Lego Legal" building principles. You can read about this here: http://bramlambrecht.com/tmp/jamieberard-b...stress-bf06.pdf -
Welcome to the Forum. Hope you're going to enjoy it here.
