  1. You can try WantedBricks - it will allow you to create a Bill-of-Material, as well as upload to BrickLink. http://www.nolberger.se/Lego/Wantedbricks/Default.htm
  2. I opened your model and had a look at it. The first things I noticed was that the two wall segment to left and right of the door had bricks that were disconnected. Use the "Connected Selection Tool" and you will see what I mean. Secondly, I noticed there were no hinges in the model. So I added a few of these: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2429c01 in each corner. AFter that, it was no problem to rotate the walls in any way. See attached file. Please let me know how it works out. CornerV3_update.zip
  3. Those boxes look amazing. They'd be worth a lot of money for a collector! And... I guess that's probably one of the best reasons for anyone to save the boxes - for collectors value. Come to think of it, most of the time there are only three things that make a set original and thus valuable: - The instructions - The stickers - The box Of course, sometimes a set contain unique parts (like this one: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=47543pb01 ), but normally it's the three items above that actually make the set valuable.
  4. Yeah...and a complete nobb too. I guess I was in some sort of deranged state of mind and in all the excitement I forgot cardinal rule one: check the 2010 rumour thread. But, I guess on the positive side I am now properly introduced here at BL - flat on my face. Anyway, thanks Svelte for you kind correction in our private PM:s, and thanks Ras for standing by an old, but completely useless, friend
  5. Sorry, I forgot I could post in the pinned thread. Thanks for placing my post here!
  6. Have you seen these new sets? http://www.flickr.com/photos/benlego/41852...l-lego_set_news
  7. LDD 3 supports Windows 7: http://en-us.kb.lego.com/ics/support/KBAns...?questionID=161
  8. A few follow up questions for Lord Admiral: I think I understand what you mean, but what should it be used for? I'm thinking for creating multiple screenshots with defined incremental steps, with the purpose of making a movie. Right? Hide/show bricks is allready available in 3.0, but where you meaning something else? Could you please explain what that means?
  9. Prices are important, but this thread is about wanted features in LDD. I'd apreciate it if we keep on the subject.
  10. I use Lego Digital Designer a lot and was curious what features others want to see in the next version of LDD. Here are a couple of mine for starters: 1) More bricks in more colors (had to start with that one ). EDIT: Fixed with Universe MOde 2) Pick list - to be able to generate a list of all parts in a model to use when picking bricks to build the real thing, preferably with bricks grouped by brick type. 3) Better grouping function, to work more like grouping in the MS office programs, i.e. by selecting a brick, you also select/see the group it belongs to. As it is now, you can only select groups by using the Groups pane/tab. 4) I find the scene grid (where you place the bricks) with all the virtual studs annoying - firstly they don’t behave like proper studs (in some instances you can place bricks between the studs), secondly, when you work on a the underside of a model, the stud circles interfere with the stud holes of the bricks, and you get distracted. I want the old 2.x scene back! 5) Show gaps between bricks. Because you can't see the gaps, the models look too smooth and nice. It's first when you build with physical bricks, that you get the "full picture" and see your design misses. OK, those where a couple of my whishes. It'd be interesting to hear what others are thinking.
  11. rick, I have searched for a patent for a 1x1 with one stud on side and haven't found anything, that's why I'm asking. For a patent to be approved there must be a certain degree of novelty and intellectual "height" and I can't see that in a 1x1 with stud on the the side. Specially since there are bricks like 1x4 with 4 studs on side, or 1x1 with two studs on side allready in production. But...it's always best to be humble, so if there is such a patent, I'd like to see it. Anyone else knows? And for the 1x5, you're probabaly right that we will never see it in production, but for a different reason: It is not easy for a child to distinguish from a 1x4 or 1x6 at a glance.
  12. rick or larry marak, could you elaborate some more on the clone brand patents you are refering to, for example on 1x1 with stud on side or a 1x5 brick. Where did you find this information? Do you have any webadress or similar for reference?
  13. Interesting topic. I was looking throught some boxes in the attic last year, and stumbled on an old MOC covered in dust. After calculating back I realized I must have built it in 1977 when I was 10 years old. It's an 8-stud wide Volvo truck with a semi-trailer that has "Volvo" in lettering on the side. Sure brings back a lot of memories...
  14. The main benefit with the new "1x1 with stud on the side" is that it will allow TLG to create models where the "1x1 technic + 1 stud" was illegal. This is because the stud height is different between the two (a 0,12 mm difference). Read more in the following interesting and usefull document: http://bramlambrecht.com/tmp/jamieberard-b...stress-bf06.pdf In other words, the new brick is strategically much more important that one might first think. A second benefit with the new 1x1 compared to the 1x1 with technic hole + pin, is off course that the new has a fixed stud, and thus any brick attached to it will fit more snuggly and won't rattle or twist around so easily.
  15. I'd like to join. Please add me to the list...
