The original instructions and the links and books mentioned above are all very useful sources and great help. So give it a try, the best experience comes from practice. Or if you see something interesting, be it here on EB or at LUG event or anywhere that you can get in touch with the author of the creation, you can also ask in person and get advice from the first hand.

But did they really need to put it there as a spacer? As seen in step 3, the baseplate is still empty enough so the 2x4 brick could be placed into right position by counting the studs, and nothing is obstructing the view around it either.

Very nice build. There are just too many fine details to choose the best one, but I like most the plough. The outdoor toilet is also a fitting addition that I have never seen before in a MOC. Well done!
-
Very well imagined and executed. I think this looks even more genuine than before the damage. Maybe you should not have replaced it entirely but just put a black tile or plate here and there - not to make the floor look scorched but to make an appearance of ash and soot falling from the burnt parts above.

Very interesting moc. It has a very realistic run-down appearance, especially with all those 'multicoloured grey' bricks. Maybe you should make the pavement slightly decaying as well. The graffiti is a nice and fitting touch at the back side. Well done!

Discussion Topic: Should there be a 2 storey modulars series.
Kivi replied to Legoofmyleg's topic in LEGO Town
I see the main reason for this simply because modular scale allows for more details and designers and mocers take advantage of it. That's why the decorated buildings predominate over 'modern steel-and-glass looking' ones. If I return to the original debate: the new modular line would be interesting to me if: - it contained interesting and useful parts in appropriate quantities (kind of expansion of creator series) - it showed some interesting building techniques (kind of not just an expansion of creator series) - it was decently priced in terms of ppp (definitely not more than current ppp in creator series) Finally, I wouldn't mind if nothing was produced at all in this size. After all, this leaves the gap for mocing. -
My favourite is the minifig one, both standard and hippie version. The microscale version is also nice. If you could have attached the 1x1 round tile to the front end somehow without sacrificing the 'V' shape, this would be an absolute winner. Well done!

Welcome to the AFOLdom. As TomLego has already addressed it, there is no simple 'yes' or 'no' answer. Everyone likes everything else, so get what you like. Perhaps you should check the reviews of the sets first and maybe it would be easier to decide then. I assume you mean basic bricks, plates, slopes, tiles, doors, windows etc.? The best source of these parts are creator sets and modulars. Tower Bridge and Haunted House are also a good source of such parts. You can always check the inventories of these sets on Bricklink to see exactly what's in there.

Xyver is right, the sheer size of the project is the main reason that prevents people from building it. We had an airport display at our last LUG event in April with all the relevant infrastructure, i.e. terminal building, hangar, control tower, helipad, airport vehicles, parking lot etc. But some 80 % of the entire display were runways, taxiways, aprons and other surfaces for aircraft movements, and these were just baseplates put together, not even tiled except for some lines on the runway. It was a joint effort and completely put together on site, but to build anything larger than what we did would be simply too expensive and time-consuming, not to even mention the space required to put it together.

As everyone has already said: awesome! I like the 'no back wall' design so all the beatiful interior could be admired with ease. I might get some ideas from there too. The tram is a nice complement to the building and the busy street, it gives the entire creation even more life-like appearance.

Well done, especially the roundhouse. A functioning turntable would give an 'added value' to the creation, but it is a nice design anyway.

First Official Brand Store opening in Vienna Austria.
Kivi replied to GRogall's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Having two stores in Vienna would be a great alternative for Munich if another store really does open. Though I doubt a bit that it would be economically viable for TLG to have two stores opened so close to each other in such a short period of time - I hope I'll be mistaken one day. And if it really does, I hope there will be a larger PaB wall than in SCS. -
Are you a member of a LUG? Yes, member of Slovenian LUG Kocke klub Are you actively participating in your LUG? Yes, building models to be displayed at the events/exhibitions and being involved in organization of these events Would you consider supporting more actively the online AFOL community (e.g. Eurobricks) as moderator, regulator (indexing, ...), making set reviews, etc.? Hardly any more actively than I already do, so no moderating/regulating, though some another set review might follow, the reason being virtually the same as many others have already stated: more time at computer means less time for bricks.

Exactly. The CMF series is the best example of minifig overproduction. There is absolutely no point in buying a single policeman CMF for 2 EUR if you can get the entire police station for additional 98 EUR.

Thanks for the pics, ScotNick. It's interesting to see that the boxes on PAB wall are filled all the way up though I wonder how can you take anything out of the upper rows. -
27. Launch another Legends series with as many sets as possible from the themes like Prince of Persia, Pharaoh's Quest, Racers etc.

Nicely put together. The expression on minifig's face says it all. And the bear appears to be smiling or just excited on the first picture.
-
Very interesting concept and what you have created so far looks pretty good. The ropes would definitely look better in my opinion if replaced with lego strings. Keep up the good work.

At our LUG events the vast majority of visitors are people who know that 'lego is lego', but they still come up with interesting questions. The most often heard are: "Did you build this yourself?" - the more complex the moc, the more likely they ask "Where can I buy this?" - very popular question when looking at moc modulars
-
Sure I will. The motor is positioned under the rails and the motion power is transmitted via vertical axle. The technic turntable is the key element for bridge rotation. The part that lies diagonally to the bridge is the base that is fixed to the baseplate. The bridge is also supported by wheels on both ends to prevent it from deformations and to make it more stable. The widest and the narrowest gaps are shown here. Emerald night has quite some problems riding over them and often tends to derail, owing to its width and design (rods, blind wheels, cowcatcher), while any rolling stock with ordinary bogies, like EN carriage, runs over them smoothly, even over the widest one.

Very nicely and accurately built. The pig is certainly an essential part of this creation (yes, I'm a Pink Floyd fan ). I have already thought of building this landmark too, but in a slightly larger scale so this part could be used for chimneys.

Nicely done. The control room is really convincing and the flight controllers seem to be very busy. The roof is also very cleverly designed. I also like the details on the lower floors, especially the toilet is interesting - very simple but quite unique. Keep up the good work.
-
I like both, but I would choose the T1. It's all the stuff on the roof that makes it even more genuine.

Very nice and very realistic MOC. It should really be kept assembled.
