  1. I agree. If I just think of the AFOLs I know there's quite a broad spectrum of level of formal education. Maybe one aspect of this hypothesis would be that playing (or creating) with lego stimulates and develops certain abilities such as logical thinking, combinatorics, 3D and spatial perception, basic principles of physics etc. so the children playing with lego and developing these skills might be better at learning new things and thus gaining better education in the end in this way.
  2. If I'd ever do it, it would only be a replica of moc, and it would be quoted at BL parts prices plus time and labour and all other costs, as the others have already said. But considering the size of most of my mocs, it probably won't ever happen.
  3. Not many of them in past 17 years and mostly local bands. Among the few international I saw were Deep Purple and Jean Michel Jarre to mention only the most famous. However, the most recent I've been to was Paul McCartney last week in Vienna. It was simply awesome. At 71, he easily outperforms almost everyone up to 20 years younger than him.
  4. What are you going to undertake is really insane. In a very positive sense, of course. I believe it will probably have to be done on RC tracks. Being very long since out of production, I wonder if there are 42+ kms of blue tracks still in existence today. And if you really make it, I am sure that you will also find a way for the train to complete the distance in one go. You have my moral support.
  5. Amazing layout. My favourite is the waterfront with nicely coloured buildings and a very classic town feel to it. Very well done!
  6. I agree with the others. The colour combination of the house is very nice and the details are stunning. The use of dark red plates gives it a very genuine appearance of a brick facade. The arches are also great and the gaps around them are not disruptive at all. Snoted cheese slopes for roof are also very clever idea - I might use that technique too. As the flags are usually hung with their shorter sides to the pole, I would say Belgium.
  7. This is truly an awesome ship. It's so full of details, not to mention the sheer size of it. I like how you made the hull and got very nice curved lines. I don't mind the edges of the tiles, they give the entire creation kind of 'bricky' appearance, so you can see even from the distance that it is made of lego. But personally I think that it only lacks some minifigs that would make the entire creation more lively. Very nice work.
  8. This is amazing! You captured it really perfectly with all the features, especially the opening part. This one certainly deserves to be made of real bricks too. Very well done!
  9. Being into both lego and music hobbies in past 20 years, I must admit that it is at most difficult to find any overlap between them and that's probably the reason why there is virtually no lego-inspired music. But on the contrary, I have already seen some music-inspired lego creations and some of them are pretty cool.
  10. That's pretty cool. I like the shape of the animals and the colour combination of the entire creation. But the octopus's eyes are a detail that really stands out.
  11. 10184 Town Plan It was actually a decision to build something after 10 years that brought me out of my dark ages, not the set itself. But upon this decision and having browsed through my old lego I also started to look for a new decent lego set and found this one. I liked it because it was huge and designed in more or less classic style, i.e. no panels for walls etc.
  12. This is a nice and challenging design. I like that you managed to keep it as low as possible. I am also currently building a working turntable but I put the driving mechanism under the track to have a better weight distribution and that made it much taller. Good luck with the roundhouse too.
  13. This is an amazing collection of 2CVs. Now put the minifigs around and you'll have a 2CV fan meeting. Some colours are more recognizable than other but then I think that 2CV is a type of car that looks good in just any colour. The combinations are also fantastic, especially the black/dark one. I remember there were quite some around in this colour combination in my neighbourhood when I was a child.
  14. A simple yet impressive building. I like the entrance and the small fenced area in front of it. Though it makes it look a bit empty when the building stands alone, but it has a great effect when positioned next to Pet Shop. Nice work!
  15. Not one of them. I always recycle my mocs so I don't miss any of them. Even if a moc stays assembled for a very long time, sooner or later I start taking bricks I need from it, and when it's plucked enough I finally take it fully apart.
  16. Incidentally bumping an open box of sorted bricks and sending them all around the place, most likely into other boxes of sorted bricks. It keeps me busy for a while to sort everything again, especially when plates and tiles of the same colour get mixed.
  17. There is probably some reason (commercial, I believe) to put two different road plates in one pack - you are just forced to buy more packs if you need more plates of certain type. I would greatly appreciate too a return to packs with two identical plates. I wouldn't mind having more identical plates in one pack though I doubt that packs of 5 curves, T-junctions or crossroads would sell as good as 5-packs of straight roads.
  18. I like the sunflowers and the swing too. And the entire creation blends nicely with the natural surroundings. Well done!
  19. Kivi

    5-wide cars pack

Superb models of 5-stud cars, especially the bulldozer is very original. Would be nice to see them brick-built too.
  20. As my primary lego activity is city mocing, I mostly concentrate on sets which contain useful parts for this - modulars, creator, city, though I greatly reduced buying sets in the last year. But now a new temptation has arisen to keep my inner child satisfied - starting a classic space collection though I know it's going to be a long and very costly endeavour.
  21. This set is amazing, much better than the architecture version. And with new bricks in dark tan it would certainly be a great source of parts for mocing. But one big downside of this set is the price. With more than 0,09 EUR/part it's almost twice as expensive as Tower Bridge and more expensive than modulars and even some regular creator sets. It's true that it contains plenty of more complex and newly coloured pieces than, say, Tower Bridge, but I doubt if that justifies such a high price.
  22. I agree with the others - very well done. This is exactly what the original is lacking inside. Though the space is somewhat limited, you managed to create all the rooms and furnished them appropriately to turn it into a true residential building. Keep up the good work!
  23. Very nice building, both outside and inside. The roof and the abandoned bike frame are very interesting details. Only the office looks a bit empty, a desk or some other piece of furniture or equipment (a coffee machine, perhaps ) would give better impression of the station master's workplace.
  24. From 'storage and available space' point of view my collection is already past critical mass, as I keep my finished and WIP projects dispersed in two rooms wherever there is some space left. From 'brick count and availability' point of view, I doubt if my collection will ever reach critical mass. Even though I count them now in ten thousands, I virtually always lack one part or another so there is no other option but to get it.
  25. That's very nice and complete creation. The accordion is very original!
