  1. Excellent figs SK! The nightstalker and the traveling merchant are my favorites.
  2. You can portray whatever species you want however you want.
  3. Just post in the the thread, and you will likely get assigned a team. I don't think it's too late yet....
  4. This is what I'm afraid of. I really hope this being used with the CMF goblin.
  5. Warm welcomes to Grinsebar, Petric, Disco, and JaseTJ. You have all chosen wisely! Vitroleum - love the Drow build, and DG - you keep pumping out beautiful builds! Welcome back Mpoh. I did not realize that the first post still showed the Prelude challenges. Avalonia's challenge is indeed over, and we are mid- Mitgardia challenge. If you have no sand green flags, just make sure to incorporate some other sand green pieces into your builds/figs.
  6. LOVE the goblin headpiece! 20 for me please! It would be excellent if that new helmet were used in S13 as well. This is looking to be an account excellent series, especially for us Historic/Castle builders.
  7. I would have potentially spent $20 more (which might have been $40 more in the end) on the figs. It all depends on their profit margin ( which is likely $3+ per fig, since they were $2 each a few years ago. If their cost is $1 a fig, then in the $3 scenario, they would be making $110 - $130 in profit with the potential for more, vs in the $4 scenario, they are making $120 flat. If their cost per fig is $.75 each, then their maximum profit in the $4 scenario equals their minimum profit in the $3 scenario - so TLG would be losing money.
  8. This list sounds too loaded with army builders, even though it looks to be true. 2 troopers, Egyptian Warrior, Samurai and Goblin? Plus 5 historic and castle figs (Egyptian, Samurai, King, Wizard and Sheriff.) The Egyptian Warrior and the Goblin could have huge potential! Can't wait for pics/Fang's review.
  9. Yes, find the squishy hair first, then confirm it by finding the teddy bear. you can find the body of the teddy bear, and feel for the two arms angling off. These have not been any rarer than anything else in my experience (maybe 3 per box instead of 4)
  10. Feeling minifigures is an accepted practice at many locations. It is usually fine at most Lego stores, Targets, TRUs, etc, but not every one. It all depends on how the seller views it. If they put the figs at/behind the counter, I won't feel the packs. I also don't feel offended if someone asks me not to do it. It is less of an issue for big box stores that get many cases in, but small mom-n-pop places may only get 1or 2 cases in, and wouldn't want someone like me coming in and taking all their Hun's for example. Then if some kid came in looking for one later on, the little kid would be out of luck. If I happened to randomly grab 6huns as the first figs sold out of those 2 boxes, that would be OK, because that would have been random. CMFs are packaged to be random, so I feel it is completely up to the seller if they want to allow you to feel for figs. Lego could even go so far as to package them in boxes to make it completely random, but this would greatly add to their production costs (and reduce how many I purchased by about 2/3). I used to feel really embarrassed when I felt for CMFs, but that is long past now.
  11. LegofanfromPR - Very impressive! How many of each faction do you have?
  12. Back when I was a boy, before the whole inter-nets, we had to wait for the catalogs to see the new sets for the year. I remember when the new sets came out in January, I would always try to buy the cheapest set that I thought would contain the full size catalog (not the double-sided fold-up sheet) just to see what sets were new that year. That was back in the days of City-Space-Castle, so when Pirates came out, it was a complete surprise to me, and so exciting! (Even though I still love Castle best)
  13. I have been finding many more battle goddesses than Hun's myself. I have 10 battle goddesses so far and 15 Hun's, but I have passed on at least 15 more battle goddesses in the process of getting my Hun's. The extra dollar has definitely limited which figures I am getting multiple of. If it were $3 a piece, I would be picking up 10-15 of the space miner for the arbor alone, and a few more princesses for parts, but now that they are $4 a piece, I won't be buying any CMFs for parts anymore. I would've spent $165 - $180 for 55-60 figs, and now it will be $160 for 40 figs. I have to see this as a loss for Lego. I'm not the typical consumer though.
  14. NiceMarmot - that technique looks perfect for a roof. The curve in it could work well. I too wish I had more time to build. I've spent the last month working on my armies, and finally got my Dwarves customized as I'd like. I can't seem to commit to a build yet since I still have a tub to sort from BW and all my ships came crashing down, so I've got those to sort out too. (Plus I still haven't posted my build yet) I have plenty of ideas though. I think the new Elves theme has some decent potential even though it's Friendsecized.
  15. Some great additions there. That train is just flying! How'd you keep it on the tracks? Will RB be making an appearance at BW15?
  16. The Royal Cartographer's Guild of Albion is pleased to announce the following official entries into the Royal Registry of Historica's Locations of Note. The Village of Sionach, located in Avalonia, has been official registered. Congratulation DeGothia! The Port Village of Belynia, located in Avalonia, has been officially registered. Congratulations Simon S! The Port City of Mpya Stedor, located in Kaliphlin, has been officially registered. Congratulations Maxim! The Hamlet of Trifork, located in Avalonia, has been officially registered. Congratulations Bregir! The Village of Euosmos, located in Mitgardia, has been officially registered. Congratulations Gunman! The Hamlet of Burrium Aqua, located in Avalonia, has been officially registered. Congratulations Kerntechniker! There are quite a few communities that have more than enough builds to be recognized, but are still missing one or two required categories. Keep up the great work everyone! I've cleaned up the thread, and wanted to post a few things about this thread. 1. Keep adding new posts when you update your communities 2. There is a minimum amount of effort required for buildings to be approved. I will try to PM you to let you know if something needs to be upgraded, or enlarged. If you only have one of these in your City - it's not a big deal, it's more of an overall effort type of thing. 3. It's OK to count someone else's build (cough... Mike S.... cough cough), but at least 75% of your builds must be your own for minimum community requirements.
  17. Hammerbro: Welcome back - we've missed you! You cannot typically extend your borders. This once, you can make the extension. I will add the little dogleg the next time I update the map. Hammerhand: Great build! I love little builds this that have such great character. Bregir: That WIP looks fantastic! I can't wait to see the finished product. CableFoxley: PM me about your downed HSS build. Also - great work on your "Ambush" build. You have some great detail work on this, and I love the figure choice and figure posing. RedViper: I will add your territory to the next map update. I'm guessing you may have requested your land before you posted your sigfig? I consider the posting of the sigfig to be the point at which a new member joins, so if you posted it prior to that, I would have missed it. I may have just missed it outright. Can you repost the area for me. I can also look back through if necessary. BaconPotatoes - Nice work on the study. I particularly like the collection of weapons and artifacts. Kern - Very nice temple. I like the use of the black (obsidian?) statue instead of the typical white or gray ones. FYI, I rarely have time to post these days, but I check this forum pretty much every day, and if there is something pressing to address, I will post. I am running very short on time now with a 1 year old, and work taking up more time than my 8-5 workday and creeping into my evenings and weekends (I have a work event all day today for example). There will be another task coming up shortly, as well as an Avalonian story event, so keep a look out over the next couple of weeks, and keep up the great work!
  18. Check out pages 34 and 35 of this thread and topic 89539 ( I believe. I'm on my mobile, so I can't be positive.)
  19. Task 5 builds can indeed be used for Task 4.
  20. You would assume correctly. All of Avalonia is littered with caves and Drow tunnels.
  21. The coastline is mainly cliffs, and there would be the occasional cliff inland, just not a full plateau.
  22. Fox - Your description looks good except that there are no mountains on the main island. There are forested highlands in the center of the island, from which the rivers form, so that would work as long as you're not set on mountains. Otherwise you'd have to look at something along the north border with Mitgardia. Dan - You might want to use something similar to your realm name, like New Goyr, Wyrglen, or Awle's Rest.
  23. It is technically part of Avalonia, but it is not claimable, just like the islands to the southwest. and it would be far too big. Welcome Legoloco! I love the figures, you've got some excellent combinations there. The only torsos I don't recognize are those on the honor guard. Carson - how big does this body of water need to be? An earthquake wouldn't really create a lake. A sinkhole is probably a better idea, but it could also be a large boulder that has plugged the original channel.
  24. The river ends abruptly on the map,but this is just where it narrows down, and probably is where two smaller streams join to form the wider river. I don't really see an issue building a dam, as long as DG has no issue with it. I don't know the name of the river. I can't find the correct map atm.
