  1. [A lanky fellow with a long black ponytail in a brushed leather tunic with finely inlaid stitching saunters through the doors of the Griffon. He walks up to the bar and looks over to Master Gabbold.] Lanky Fellow: "Innkeep, I am a traveler in need of a good meal and a hearty brew. Master Gabbold: "Well then, you have come to the right place good sir. The Grand Griffon will happily provide you with both. May I ask your name?" Lanky Fellow: "But of course, how rude of me. I am Rodiumus of the Green Fork, an Avalonian by birth, but a Historican by trade. I had heard that this was a lively place, but I see only a few folk here." Master Gabbold: "It is still early - just wait a little while. We should start filling up soon." [Rodimus turns to the bartender] "Then a leg of chicken if you have it and a dark ale should do the trick" [Rodiumus takes a table against the wall and waits for his food.]
  2. I have updated Avalonia's Map: Odidoma - I took the liberty of shifting your territory over, as the original location was already taken.
  3. This isn't PlanetEarth-o-Bricks.
  4. Master Gabbold: "Welcome to the Grand Griffon Tavern and Inn!, I am the owner of this fine establishment, and I invite you to come in and share a meal, or a story, or just enjoy our company! The Grand Griffon is the largest tavern in Cedrica1 and has been serving the fine people of Historica for over 200 years." [Master Gabbold waves you into the tavern and directs your attention to an ornate wooden plaque with a detailed etching portraying a small building. There is a Griffon carved at the bottom corner of the plaque.] "Let me share with you a little history about the Griffon. My great, great Grandsire Gabberdine the first, built the Lone Griffin at this very site. The Lone Griffin was a far more humble building, where simple fare was served, and it could only house a handful of travelers. The Lone Griffin soon became a favored destination for many a traveler, and it was expanded under my Great Grandfather, Gabberdine the Second. My Grandfather Gabberdine the Third eventually replaced the building and upgraded to the three story structure you now stand in, which he renamed the Grand Griffin." "The Grand Griffin can accommodate over 100 patrons, and has rooms for more than 40 guests. We currently serves ales and brews from all 4 of the guilds, including the Sultan's Spiced Lager, the Mitgard Ice Ale, Dragon Flight Sampler, and the Pumpkin Pie Stout, but it is rare that anyone but Nocturnans order that one, considering the ominous brewing process. Our menu changes daily, and ranges from comfort food to the exotic for those with more expensive tastes." "As the Griffon is so popular with travelers in the area, it has also attracted it's fair share of regular merchants and purveyors of goods." [Master Gabbold motions you closer and continues in a low voice] "If you would prefer to keep your business more...discrete, you may want to stop by the tables in the back under the upper balcony." [Master Gabbold steps back and continues in a normal voice] "Since our patrons hail from all corners of Historica, there are always interesting conversations and interesting company, so please get a drink or a meal, and enjoy the Griffon!" 1Cedrica is the capitol territory located centrally between the 4 guilds. It is home to the Ruler of Historica, and is adjacent to all 4 guilds ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Grand Griffon is a place to bring your characters and converse in character. All posts in this thread should follow the format that is laid out above (quotations for all spoken work, italics in blue for descriptive text, and subscript1 for any particular characters or references you with to explain at the bottom of your post. Most importantly, all posts should be IN CHARACTER. You can use your sigfigs here, or create characters specifically to use in this thread (such as representatives from you sigfig), but you should not jump back and forth between characters unless you have a good reason. You should also try to remain somewhat consistent with the timelines of your builds, so if you are posting your sigfig in a MOC in Kaliphlin, they should not be in mid-discussion here. Night and day are irrelevant here, as are other forms of time, so any reference to time within the Griffon should be vague, like "later" or "soon" unless your referencing something your character will be doing outside the Griffon ("I have to head to Mitgardia to deliver my wagon of turnips, so I'll will meet you there in one month's time") Members who interact frequently and help enrich the atmosphere of the Griffon will have the potential to earn control of an NPC that works at the Griffon (Bartender, server, merchant, etc.) This will not be anything lightly earned, and will not be possible for at least a couple of months. If you have general questions about the Guilds of Historica, or this thread in particular, please post them here Enjoy!
  5. Sorry to hear about your troubles, but great to hear that you will be building again soon! Welcome Odidoma! Glad to see you and Ridge will be participating in Challenge II. I am building overtime for Brickworld, and this includes a couple of GoH builds, so those should be up in a couple of weeks. I will also be updating the map shortly now that we have a handful of new members. You can also expect the next task once the Challenge II deadline has passed.
  6. Mike S, Mass Editor, Ridge Montate, Thomas of Tortuga, Lego Panda and Odidoma have been assigned teams and have been added to their respective challenge threads. Please let me know if anyone else is not part of their respective thread.
  7. So, any updates for Brickworld attendees now that we are getting close?
  8. Are we supposed to bring our frogs back so they can visit all their kin?
  9. Dark green and sand green are the official colors of Avalonia.
  10. Ridge - Welcome to the best Guild! Your sigfig and intro should be posted in this thread, and then you can post Task 1 and 2 in this thread if you want, or you can start your own. Challenge II would be more pressing than the tasks though if you are up to it.
  11. Agreed! Although, I'm in much better and bigger shape than I was last year at this time (MOC-wise that is). Lookign forward to some pizza too...
  12. Gideon has pretty much hit everything. I just want to epmhasize that there is absolutely no problem with beginning builders here. Welcome to GoH!
  13. OK, so here are the points we have collectively made: 1. You should choose the guild where the colors match, and the Black Falcon crests have been used before BUT Don't base your choice off the colors, or historic usage, you can go anywhere! 2. You should choose a guild with terrains you like to build in, since you'll be building there a lot BUT Don't base your choice off terrain because every guild has most terrains, so don't let that deter you! 3. You should choose a guild where you don't have to buy a lot of brick to build in BUT Don't base your choice off your current Lego collection, since you can always buy more. There. Doesn't that simplify things immensely?
  14. Nocturnus has the same terrains as Avalonia and Mitgardia, so don't count it out.
  15. Most of the biomes you listed fall into the categories I had. Yes, Avalonia has Crystal deposit forests and Kelp grotto villages and floating islands, but this is not where most people build. This is meant to be a broad overview for the newcomer. 80% of Kaliphlin is desert, 90% of Avalonia is forests plains and islands. 80% of Mitgardia is Forests, Mountains or Tundra. Yes, there are other biomes in these guilds, but most of what you build is going to fall into the basic categories I listed. It is possible to build strictly in jungle in Kaliphlin or strictly in underwater caverns in Avalonia, but this would not be the norm for 95% of our builders. If you are going to be participating in challenges and such, you will most likely end up building in the desert of Kaliphlin or the forests of Avalonia, etc.
  16. It is not known if the Drow accessed the isles through subterranean caverns or overland, but the Drow tunnels are known to extend far deeper than the shallow seas between the Mystic Isles.
  17. Welcome Darlph! Check out the tasks in the first thread, and the ongoing Challenge set in Avalonia (which has it's own thread). If you would also like to highlight a location on the most recent map, I will be updating it soon with the recent new arrivals.
  18. I tend to picture the Black Falcons in Kaliphlin or Nocturnus, and with all that grim black, I would see them in Nocturnus. Not that they couldn't work in Avalonia or we wouldn't want to have you... Kaliphlin = desert and ocean/ships Mitgardia = Mountain, snow and Forest, plus Icy seas and ships Nocturnus = anything and everything with a dark twist, + lava Avalonia = Forest and Plains with some Mystic Isles and Lots of islands. I would say whichever of those areas you prefer to build in you choose, because you may be doing a lot of builds there.
  19. Megablocks, Kreo, etc. are not acceptable. Brickarms, Brickwarriors, etc are just fine.
  20. If the border is not ridiculous, and not part of the build itself, that is fine.
  21. Dragonfire - I somehow had you slated for DG instead of Simon - I have switched you to Team Simon. I went through to make sure I hadn't missed anyone else, and I have also switched Tomshce to Team Simon as well. I believe those were the only two I missed. Quiadris - thank you for being so accomodating. You have been reassigned to Team DeGothia. Narbilu - Team Simon Task B is defense only. You could show a token Drow raid, but this is meant to be a defensive build, NOT an offensive build. That is what task C is for. Krono, this is a reconaissance mission build or a discussion build. Check out these great examples: Wedge HammerBro33 Narbilu MPOH
