  1. Great build! I really like the trees, the planters, the well and the walls of the building. This is an excellent first Kali build.
  2. Excellent builds! The wall details are fantastic and I really like the roof design. Tons of other great features as always with your builds. My only issue is your freakishly tall Dwarves.
  3. I was amazed by this build when you first posted it, but never commented. This is my favorite type of build - tons of things packed in a small space. I love all the activity, the great combination of styles, and the lighting. Superb build!
  4. Thanks for all the comments! The lantern design is up for grabs. When I saw it on the LotR figure initially, I knew I'd be able to do something with it, and I'm happy with the result. The torso for the Kaliphlin Spearman is from the Prince of Persia fort. I did an initial series with more soldiers, and I realized I was using other people's designs that I had used when I created my forces back in 2013 (Derfel's Avalonian with the Viking shield, Masa's Kalihplin guards, etc.) so I retooled and went with a more civilian series. My first round did not have the Footpad, the Pastry Chef, the Gorilla Mariner or the Seraphim. Also, I was a little too happy with my Lycanthropist.
  5. So I have had these figs assembled since Mid-December, and have just been waiting on time to photograph and prepare the pictures/post. I had been initially viewing the other series, and then decided to hold off so that I wouldn't subconcsiously copy someone else. I just checked out Captain Braunsfeld's figs and saw that he has a pastry cook! What are the chances? I promise though that I did not copy his idea. You know the saying, "Great minds think alike" so do ours!
  6. Rogue Angel's Collectible Series Avalonia Druid The Druidic Order still exists in Avalonia, and it's members say they descend from the Great Druids of old. They are still reclusive, and rarely reveal themselves to outsiders. Some say they still wield mystical powers of great strength. Albion Cutpurse All large cities have their shady side, and Albion is no different. The City is awash in thieves, charlatans and footpads, and this cutpurse looks to be on his way to fence some ill-gotten gains. Elven Sentinel Most every Elven Clan has a wilderness they permanently inhabit. They serve as caretakers of these wilds and as part of this, they typically pose sentinels to watch for any intruders or encroachers. Albion Pastry Chef The wealthier citizens of Albion have a more refined palate, and are willing to pay for finer fare. The Pastry chef caters to a very exclusive clientele, who prefer the most exquisite of bakery. Mitgardia Elven Ranger The Elves of Mitgardia are more sparsely populated than in the southern realms, and Elven Rangers are seasoned warriors who can fend for themselves, and live off the land for months at a time. Dwarven Axeman The Axeman are the backbone of most Dwarven forces, the axe being one of the most heavily favored Dwarven arms. As with the Rangers, the hearty axemen are more than capable of weathering the harsh Mitgardian winters. Mountain Man The far northern reaches of Mitgardia are desolate and uninviting. It takes a certain type of man to call these lands home, but there are trappers, miners and hunters who enjoy living far from civilization. Or far from the law. Gnomish Artificer The Gnome are obsessed with mechanics, alchemy and technology, and the Artificer excels at creating mechanical tools and constructs. "For gnomes, technology is the heart of simplicity, for through technology the burden of simple tasks may be relieved, so that every gnome has more time to focus on developing more technology to relieve more simple tasks, - Gnomish adage Kaliphlin Spearman The Kaliphlin guardsman patrol across the Guild, and the spear is often their weapon of choice. These guardsman can endure the searing heats and barren expanses of the Kaliphlin wastes in their efforts to protect merchants and travelers. Gorilla Mariner The Gorilla Tribes have little interaction with the neighboring villages of their homeland, but they are much more prolific on the seas of Historica, and Gorilla Mariners can usually be found in most every major port from Nocturnus to Mitgardia. Scribe Kaliphlinites seems to think that their every whim should be recorded for posterity, and have even established a University to house their whims. With such an effort being spent on writing these whims down, the scribe is one of the most professions in Kaliphlin. Seraphim Lance The Seraphim inhabit the skies of Kaliphlin, but few know of their existence. They have long battled the Ravens flocks of Nocturnus, but this is a saga that plays out unbeknownst to the Kaliphlinites below. Nocturnus Drow Taskmaster The Drow are an evil race that inhabit the subterranean reaches that extend across Historica, but are often seen in most Nocturnus Cities, and occasionaly Kaliphlin ports looking to purchase slaves or more exotic wares. Lycanthropist A number of the Werwolf tribes of Nocturnus have accumulated vast sums of wealth over the years, and the Lycnathropists travel across Nocturnus, seeking to provide assistance to those in need. Their are tales that some werewolves tell their young, of werewolves that turn into humans, and steal and swindle others out of their money instead, but these are just meant to scare them. Fang of the Dragon The Dragon Clan of Nocturnus is said to be one of the strongest factions in Nocturnus, and the Fang of the Dragon is the order of Samurai that give alleigance to the Dragon Clan. They are formidable opponents, and often form the main line of attack in Clan wars. Orc Farmer The orcs are seen as a nuisance or threat in most of the guilds, but in Nocturnus, there is a large number of Orc Farmers, that want nothing more than to live in the comfort of their own hovel with their swine by their side, and live out their days in tranquility. Thanks for checking this out! This will not be a contest entry, but I thought it was a fantastic idea by Ecc, so I posted my own series.
  7. I'm sorry to hear about your computer crash. I'm trying to pull a couple of missing files off one of my hard drives. I thought I'd backed up everything, but I know now there are a few files at least that I missed. :( I have never used the Hobson font. I used to use Black Chancery font a long time ago, but I lost that when I got a new computer.
  8. Our Lego store released series..10 (I think) before Christmas because they were completely wiped out on sets. They have always stuck to the street date though for everything else.
  9. Great series! I like both the Kaliphin nobles and the Tavern Hopper. I really like your shield variety, and the use of the Viking shields, which are underused IMO.
  10. What a colorful build! They work great for this MoC, and really don'tlook out of place as you might expect. I love how the lower roof bulges out. Beautiful irregular details, as usual.
  11. Excellent build! I think the tower is great, and the question of where the sentry might be adds to the atmosphere. Very nice job with the grassland, the terrain is well done.
  12. Slegengr has it right. Typically you will have a decent draft or a very wide hull on a ship to keep it from tipping. The Elven ships appear to have almost no draft at all, which you would think would allow the ship to capsize in any decent swell. This does not seem to be the case though. The difference is something a mariner would pick up on, but not a drylander.
  13. Gorgeous build! I love the sloping roof and the little courtyard. That door is spectacular! Beautiful techniques throughout the build.
  14. Port Adelphus is located just off the coast of Avalonia, just north of the Kaliphlin border. While the island itself is Avalonia territory, half of Port Adelphus is Kaliphlin's jurisdiction. This port serves as perhaps the largest point of trade between the two Guilds with extremely large transactions taking place there every day. The harbor is always filled with ships, and the streets and docks are always bustling with activity The Streets of the Port are traversed by denizens from across the Guilds, and represent a diverse section of Historica You can usually find at least one ship in port from each of the four main Guilds, with an occasional Valyrian vessel as well. Avalonian vessels are among the most common sights. A small ship out of unknown origin shares this dock with a large Avalonian Cog. Not all vessels fly the colors of the Guilds. Some are at home at sea, while other have less lawful intentions. Elven vessels are a much less frequent site in Port. The great white ships of the Avalonian Elves almost seem to float on top of the water. The Elves of the Rustling Leaves Clan appear to have business with one of the Kaliphlin nobles in port. Notable Guild members are frequently seen in Port Adelphus, as is evident this day. At another dock, a Kaliphlin Longship is docked with some smaller vessels. The Gorilla tribes of Kaliphlin are sighted at the Ports and Harbors throughout Historica more than they are within the Guild of Kaliphlin itself. The docks of Port Adelphus are most often packed with ships as they are today. The daily visitors to the Port can usually make do with just a corner of dock to unload. These local fisherman have taken advantage of the gap between ships to arrange for the sale of their early morning catch. The dockside inn caters to the many travelers that need lodging, and many important dealings take place both within and on the streets outside. Kaliphlin merchants excel at drawing in customers, and will often prevail on more wealthy passers by to sample their wares in hopes of making a sale, such as at this Wine pavilion. The Eagle clans have a permanent presence in Port Adelphus. The co-ownership of the Port has prevented any of the skirmishes or wars that plauge the mainland from reaching it, and has made this a desirable location for the clans. They are also located above the Customs office, whose own officers inadvertently provide protection for the Eagles. The island does not provide enough lumber to support a major shipyard, but these two brothers went into ship building, and have never wanted for work. There is always a need to build more small shipping vessels for the local fisherman. This fish monger is located above a shipping warehouse, and the height allows him to spy the returning fisherman, and be first in line to purchase their wares. Both the Kaliphlins and Avalonians have proved to more appreciative of the arts than the other Guilds, and so it is never hard to find street performers about. The port is a thriving City, and is a major destination for Captains from across Historica. So goes the old saying. "Find a Kaliphlin merchant and he'll find whatever you need. And two things you don't need." This was my Brickworld build and I just finally got to posting it. Thanks to Gideon and Hinkley for providing the high rez pictures that are here for me. All higher resolution pictures can be found here: https://www.flickr.c...s/29025875@N06/ I had built these ships with GNAR in mind, but decided to hold off on them for this build. Comments and critiques are welcome!
  15. I really like the Egyptian Warrior as a historic builder, but I probably won't build a full theme out of him like I have with the revolutionary soldier and Indian warrior, the Romans and the musketeers. As a fantasy builder he is useful for my desert builds and he is a necessary fig in the historical scheme of things (like the Aztec Warrior), but he is slightly less useful than the Hun warrior, who is useful and interchangeable in many more of my fantasy builds/factions. I will still be picking up 15-20 of him though. Goblin for the win.
  16. Excellent series! I especially like the Lurikeen, Strange Lady, Avalonian Villager and Bloodborne. I'm not sure how you think Mitgardia has the best ninjas though... This definitely seems more like a Nocturnian accomplishment. Mitgardia is like Texas, they think everything bigger/better in Mitgardia.
  17. Great figs! I love the use of the ME headgear for the clanswoman. The Sea Captain and the Astronomer are my favorites.
  18. Excellent use of SW parts! I LOVE your Elves. it never occurred to me to use the Orc ears for Elves, but you've done a superb job with these. Your 3 Elves are definitely my favorite figs here.
  19. I expected original figures from you, and you delivered! My favorites are the Claw, the Artificier, the Oil trader and the Professor.
  20. Roughly translated: Collect and win! Use the code from the bag to unlock various features in the minifigures online game . With a little luck you can win great prizes! A new series is new again! let yourself be surprised.
  21. Fantastic Details on all these figs! This might be the first time I buy every figure, and this may be my favorite series to date!
  22. That is a great Riddler minifig! There are some torsos and legs that I could see limited use for, but only as a slight variations on existing parts, and definitely not worth $4 for.
  23. I saw nothing of value even piece-wise in the Simpsons CMFs. The torsos were too simplistic to be useful and they didn't even have any useful accesories. Waste of a series IMO.
  24. The Lego movie series sold out very quickly too, as did s8 and s11. S7 hung around forever, and s10 was out for quite a while too - I'm pretty sure they produced significantly more of s10 than the other series with the Mr Gold promotion. The Simpsons series has also lingered a long time.
  25. Excellent set! I love the Wolven, the Mitgardian Captain and the Cannoneer, but the Naga is my favorite.
