  1. The Infearno interception which is an ultra agents $30 set. It's an excellent set.
  2. Wow, I'm impressed you made it that far. Definitely one made for fans of the video game. Watched: The bonfire of the vanities. Excellent opening shot, a truly fantastic performance by Tom Hanks, Great supporting performances all round, and a wonderful soliloquy on bond trading from Kim Cattrall. And yet, the Bruce Willis frame story and the predestined plot didn't really work for me even though I loved the premise. The big French bond loss scene was nonsense, nobody loses 100% on French sovereigns. 6/10 The Zero Theorem. Felt very much like a remake of Brazil. A very entertaining film with spectacular visuals, superb central performances, and a deep plot about the meaning of modern life. I really liked this, much more than any Gilliam film since Munchausen. 10/10 Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Entertaining chase flick/ military-industrial recruitment ad. Chris Pine was engaging, the latter third of it depended on entirely improbable and implausible leaps of analysis. 5/10 I Frankenstein. Aaron Eckhart frolicking around with lots of make up on again. A worthy successor to the Underworld films, ultimately quite forgettable but looked good. 5/10 Total recall remake. Pretty good, maybe even better than the original in terms of the staging and characters. Great cast with Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale and Colin Farell. The economic side and clone army plot was totally nonsensical though. 6.5/10
  3. I would really like to see these companies do a few more "original" or minor characters, like a Green Arrow set with Felicity, Diggle, Sarah, Malcolm, Deadshot, Roy, Slade or a Spiderman with Gwen Stacey, Uncle Ben, Aunt May and the lizard, or a MAOS set. Very happy with my Decool Christo Joker and $198 rather than the UCS tumbler.
  4. Here you go guys, as promised: Decool Future Foundation. Spiderman was not in the 4 when I was a lad. I've never seen this costume but spidey looks good. Invisible woman looks good, much better face (as in, more Jessica Alba-like) than the blue version. Mr Fantastic still has a stupid face (someone at Decool has it in for Ioan Gruffud), Torch looks good. Torches. Infearno head is not packaged with the set. Decool Fantastic 4 set. Horrible faces and the Thing design just doesn't work for me. Good torsos though. Susan Storm's upper torso physiology is quite different in this costume. Richard Reed's hair is printed, it is not the Count Dooku hair shown in earlier range cards though. Decool Shazam on the left, Lego on the right. Head print is bad, torso plastic surface and print is bad. Legs a bit floppy. Not a lot to like here. 4.5/10. Decool latest range card. From this you can see why we can't really specify the iron man set much. I guess they haven't decided the body print yet. I was quite disappointed in my Decool first iron man set (110-115, the iron patriot set) head mould quality and torso and head printing, hope it's better this time.
  5. Do we think any chance of a Marvel: Agents of Shield set at SDCC? The second series is being commissioned. I would love Coulson in his flying red Corvette.
  6. I bought a future foundation set last night, new in stock. On the range card, the next 9 slots are iron man as Kire said. Then the punisher/electro/redskull/taskmaster/falcon/black suit captain America (?) Wave. Will post photo later. There is supposed to be a Thing bigfig 3 pack too but I haven't seen that yet.
  7. I like this very much. What a great idea, and it looks fantastic!
  8. I am a fan first and collector second. I think these figs will be good investments, but of course there's a risk of being wrong. I don't think that prices have really moved much since 2011 (the TMNT ones have fallen on supply increase, there is no real market in the iron man/cap figures, common one like Phoenix or Venom are basically flat) while the stock market has gone up like a rocket, so I can't say that fig investors have been the beneficiaries yet. Most of the price move happens between the kids selling to scalpers, and the scalpers selling to collectors. I hope that this will attract more scalpers into the market and force them to bid more to the kids, who can then recycle their gains into more lego!
  9. The PGTC will pay handsomely for the services of Brolin Fontana and his crew.
  10. Between us we probably own a lot of the exclusive SDCC and NYCC figs. There seems to be a lot of uncertainty over how many there are of each figure. If we all say what we have, we can probably work out the real numbers by adding ebay and BL inventory, which I think would be helpful. So, I'll go first. I own 1 NYCC Iron Man 1 NYCC Shadow Leonardo 1 NYCC Kraang 2 SDCC Pheonix 2 SDCC Shazam 1 SDCC Bizarro 1 SDCC Venom 1 SDCC Green Lantern 1 SDCC Batman (TDK) 1 SDCC ASM Spiderman 1 SDCC Green Arrow 1 SDCC Black Superman What else do we have on EB?
  11. I hope it really is only 4 figs in total this year. I want to get the superheroes ones but I'm not bothered about picking up uni kitty or Bard, which means a lower spend. If both the war bird and batmobile sets have exclusive figs and such limited runs, I guess I'll try to get those too, but like others I think that Rocket might be released later. I sort of can't believe the 66 batmobile would be that small of a release, although it would be a good way to keep it special for the 75th anniversary. I actually prefer it when the figs stay exclusive. I wouldn't like to spend $2000 on a set of exclusive figs (cheaper than a trip to SDCC) and then see the value fall if they are released later like Batman, Superman and Azog were. I wish Lego would have a better way to signal what is a preview figure and what is an exclusive.
  12. I can source boxed figures for you. But I am paying retail prices rather than wholesale so the end prices would not be attractive vs eBay or alipay.
  13. Good question. I think the return on SDCC figures will be better than on equities or bonds, is the reason.
  14. I agree with Namioik. And now that I've found out how good the Decool figs are, I can buy those instead of super hero sets, and reinvest the money saved into SDCC and NYCC exclusives. I bought all of the first 2 super hero waves and most of the batman 1 sets, but I am losing interest in the 2014 wave. Until the DTC set comes along.
  15. Yeah. Bought individually first then got a bulk lot. I have an extra Shazam too. Quite happy to have spares Well I bought them in the boxes, they come with cards too like Ninjago.
  16. I think I might stop collecting Superheroes sets and just buy Decool figs instead
  17. I have always been very disappointed with my clone purchases, but after reading the favourable reviews here I took a trip into the market last night and picked up 12 Decool figures. I was blown away by the quality, it has really improved remarkably. Here's some Decool and original SDCC figures, in every case the Decool is on the left and the original is on the right. Apologies for the lighting, it's that kind of a day . The Decool figures come in packets of 6 and the Sheung Yuan in packets of 8. I didn't buy any SY because I've always been disappointed in them. Phoenix - Decool hair is a little darker, waist printing is better aligned than both of my originals, leg printing is a little smudgy, torso shadows are noticeably less well defined, face printing alignment a little off and the black lines on the face are too thick. 7.5/10 Green Arrow - beard is a different colour, being more orange. Face mask is a brighter tone, alternative face is different. Shaded areas at the sides of the waist and thighs are not dark enough. Comes with a dark green longbow. 9/10. You should get this one, it's a no brainer. Really. just buy it. ASM (I think) Spiderman. The eyes are nicely stippled although that doesn't show in the photo, the black lines on the head and torso are too thick, the light blue stipples on the body are too large, the spider on the front torso is too big/a different design (I can't really tell because the printing is too thick), the spider on his back is a different shade of red (possibly red printed over the blue rather than a shadowmask cut out to the red plastic base). Legs a bit floppy. 6.5/10 Bunch of original or stolen designs. All have slight imperfections on the headgear/hair moulds. Batman variant 8/10 the red printing doesn't align perfectly but comes with pearl silver batarang and red batcape. Odin 10/10 comes with Loki staff and red cape. Wolverine variant 8/10 I don't like the face prints but no quality problems, comes with slasher hands. Joker variant 8/10 slight definition issues on face print and slightly floppy legs Cyclops variant 8/10 printing yellow on blue gives colour inconsistencies, same as lego. Winter Soldier 10/10 Here is the most up to date range card: I did not see any of the figures after 0152, nor the Fantastic 4. I did see all 3 hulks, sold as Lele, which makes me think that Decool and Lele are working together. I bought a red Hulk, which I am happy with, probably a 9/10 for slightly smudgy leg printing. Overall I am delighted with these purchases, and I am quite tempted to buy these instead of new lego sets to get the figures. Being honest with myself, I am only collecting superhero sets for the minfigs anyway. Especially with the palaver over SDCC exclusives, these just make a lot more sense for most people. I am aware of the issues people have with buying clone figures. HK rocks!
  18. What a beauty! Love the chimney and roof!
  19. Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children. It's a CGI movie with spectacular visuals, and the Aerith story still draws a tear all these years later. Into the Wild. A tragic true story, with amazing performances from all the actors, and beautiful photography.
  20. Absolutely beautiful Madoca. Fantastic model of a very difficult and ambitious subject. I love it
  21. Excellent demons!
  22. I love everything from the front wheels backwards. The shaping of the cockpit and middle section is fantastic, the reader wings are nicely subtle, and I really like the aggressive stance. The front section in my opinion does not have the consistency of surface, colour, and line that carry through the rest of the model. What I am saying is, this is really good but I think you can do even better.
  23. This is a superb idea. The only issue would be that there is no consensus amongst space fans on which sub theme should be revived. I would go for 3 neo cs and 3 Blacktron. I agree that Western and Vikings and orient expedition deserve a revival. And I'm sure we'll have an under water action theme again soon.
  24. The issue in recent years is that TLG have become much more minifig driven, and there are a lot of fantastic minifigs this year. I'm not convinced there's a lot of classic sets in 2014, but there are so many great minifigs, and they make up such a high proportion of the set value that you might as well buy the set.
