  1. Is Lego moving away from them? They didn't use any in the 42000 set and they've used plenty of them in sets since then.
  2. Have to agree with you. When I first seen this, it was instantly recognizable as your model from some years back. It seems that very few builders are original anymore while most of them just use other builder's ideas and work to make a buck.
  3. The Land Rover's gears were all wrong too. Well, they were backwards anyways. I'd love to hear someone from Lego explain the reasoning why they decided to start doing things like this. Is it on purpose or by accident? The Lamborghini is correct.
  4. I agree. It's not quite as special as I had hoped.
  5. Seems like an overly huge gearbox compared to the 42107 just to add a 3rd gear and reverse.
  6. That looks good, but what it supporting that wheel arch? It doesn't look like there is much holding it in place.
  7. People arguing over the 4 wheel steering being realistic, meanwhile the engine is driven by a chain.
  8. Since when do the Chinese care about patents or anything legal? They've been stealing and reproducing millions of items for years. I recall someone here saying that the knock off companies in China must take legal action against other knock off companies knocking them off.
  9. Lego sets most likely don't use a "park" feature because no doubt they will have complaints that the user broke something.
  10. No questionable green plant this time?
  11. I can't get past how ugly those short panels look on the tops of the doors.
  12. Lego made their entire fortune based off of conflict and battle. Bunch of hypocrites.
  13. My Kia has shift paddles, so I know which one is supposed to be pulled for upshifting. My question was whether or not the paddles in the Sian were correct or if I built something wrong. The Porsche was designed by the same Lego designer as the Sian, and even though the shift sequence is all wrong, the paddle on the right does upshift when pulled. When I pull the right paddle on my Sian it is downshifting. Is this how it is for everyone, or did I build something incorrectly?
  14. When I pull the right paddle forward (like you do in a real car with paddle shifters), and roll the car along, the engine rotates faster with each pull when it should be moving slower. When I pull the left paddle forward and roll the car along, the engine rotates slower. Or are these "Paddles" supposed to be pushed? I mean that will solve the problem, but it isn't very realistic when compared to a real car, but then again, the paddles would also be mounted on the steering wheel and be electronically controlled.
  15. Before I start tearing this apart and seeing if I screwed something up, when you pull the right paddle forward, shouldn't the gearbox upshift? Pulling my right paddle forward downshifts and pulling the left paddle forward upshifts. Or is this how it is supposed to work on this model?
  16. Looks great. A must buy. The rear end is off though.
  17. So much for Lego's big announcement tomorrow. It looks quite stunning.
  18. I somewhat agree with this. I feel that official sets seem to use the best logical clever thought out solutions where MOCs that I have seen will use the quickest(or illegal) solution just so the designer can move on to the next part. My main issue is people hyping up models to be better than official sets, then you get convinced to drop 25 or 30 euro on their instructions only to find out that the MOC is actually poorly designed.
  19. Spot on Jim. People see great looking MOCS and just assume that the people behind them are better designers than the people working for Lego when the reality is that there is only a very small handful of Technic MOCS that could ever make it as a set without completely overhauling the model to meet Lego's standards. I have bought a fair amount of instructions from AFOL and I had so many "Oh God" moments during some of the builds that I just stopped the build and moved on to something else. The casual Lego fans have a tendency to overlook things like bending axles or numerous connections being made "illegally".
  20. They should probably do that soon to show that their model is superior to this one. I would imagine that this clone model could hurt their sales a bit at it's much lower price.
  21. Except for a few areas, this looks quite good. If not for the Porsche wheels, if you told me that this was the official model from Lego, I would believe it.
  22. What I meant was Lego ideas for for new IP ideas, not for existing ones. This is the reason they don't want things like Star Wars related models submitted. It's one thing with these clone companies stealing moc creator's designs and selling them as cheap sets, but we cannot ignore the fact that moc designers are selling instructions for their mocs which are based on someone else's IP, not to mention using the names of those auto manufacturers to help sell their product. I'm not sure how you can be mad at one company for stealing from you when you are illegally using a manufacturer's design and name for profit.
