  1. Is it possible for us to register our idea in private? Do we NEED to create a WIP thread? I'd like to reserve my idea but rather not give it away to competitors!
  2. PF helicopter bridge layer next
  3. It pains me to see LEGO lose its mind like this. Glad things are back to normal these days.
  4. When you stall one side of the differential, through the planetary gears, the other side is driven with twice the speed.
  5. These parts are exactly what caused my dark ages haha. useless. some of the sets that use these parts only have a few totally custom pieces.
  6. That's really awesome. I wish i had room for this in my 4x4 moc
  7. What about MOCs that you put on LEGO Ideas. Do you guys share the LDD? The plans? The rules say you can't make money of an Ideas project or it will be disqualified. What if someone else is selling the plans?
  8. Looks pretty sweet! If your goal is to put as much torque to the wheels, then right out of the motor should be the point of lowest torque. You could increase the speed, later to decrease it, but the efficiency lost would probably be a negative gain. You could use sliding gears to engage, rather than the red ring.
  9. Grum, I think I read that effe's custom parts are available in a very close matching red. Maybe he can draft you some parts so you can order them in the right color. But it's part of lego. If you want it to be an authentic lego model, you might have to make some compromises on colors. But the good thing is, multiple colors usually looks pretty cool!
  10. Thanks for the great example. This is a masterpiece. Coincidentally, last night i was looking at large piece count sets at the lego store and I came across the boat from the LEGO Movie. It seems to have just about every kind of weird piece one could ever want! The only problem is that I was on my motorcycle and couldn't carry the huge box home. Also a very pretty 2x5 got away from me when the store guy was talking my ear off. :( She was feeling mini-fig bags looking for bart simpson. I fell in love immediately obviously.
  11. Each time I redesign the cab of my latest moc I get all excited about the new colors that are possible with that choice of pieces. Then i have to make another design change and the pieces change and then the possible colors change. :( LEGO problems.
  12. I got the snowmobile a couple weeks ago. Is it just me or does the plastic feel extremely light? The pins dont seem to have as much friction either. Everything snapped together very easily and made a very high pitch click rather than a snap. I'm worried about the strength of the new parts. Anyone interested in / capable of running some strength tests? It feels brittle.
  13. Some background: I buy multiple of the same technic set. I usually build one and use the others for parts. I buy lots of little system sets. I usually build these and leave them built or tear one down and try to make C and D models from the same pieces. I'm noticing though, i'm missing out on a lot of pieces in my main building set unless I use all the crazy pieces from the system sets. I'm curious how you guys manage these conflicts of interest: 1.) Building with a diverse piece set 2.) Having built models around to look at and get inspiration 3.) Keeping sets organized for the purpose of designing more alternate models for a set It seems like if I really want my moc to be the best, then I'd need to tear down all my models and get access to ALL the interesting pieces. Do you guys rely on LDD to add details to your mocs without needing to salvage other models? Then just order the parts when you're ready to take pictures? Specific pieces of interest are: * Sloped pieces * Tile pieces * Antenna and antenna holders * Strange technic pieces that are only found in 1 or 2's Such as 10197 and 44809. I only have a couple of these so my MOCs never utilize them but I'm sure they would be useful. Can a mod please change the topic to: "How to combine more system in technic mocs?" I'm afraid i'll mislead some people who wanted to see something juicy. If you have something juicy, please feel free to share it here.
  14. I hope you get to ride on the real one again!
  15. Of course! with LEGO it will never be identical. But the closer you get, the cooler it will be. There will be a balance between being accurate and being done. Dont get too wrapped up in being accurate or you may never finish.
  16. I have tons of the extra pieces laying around. I buy lots of little sets, build them at my desk over lunch, and then the 4 or 5 extra pieces and round 1x1 plates in various colors are left over. The little extra bits all go back into the plastic bag, which goes back into the box along with the stickers. So I have a crap load of little bits, stickers, building manuals, and boxes that I dont know what to do with. My main building set is very organized though. I could hardly call them lying around.
  17. You're a cruel lego owner! :P but this thing is cool!
