Ah, you figured it out, great. The cabin seems to be too tall for this ship, it starts very abrubt as well. If you want to keep a two level cabin I suggest you split the levels and place the upper one a bit more to the back (so there is small deck on top of the entrance door). As for attaching the bowsprint, I'm not very good at that too, it's still a weak point in most of my ships, I usually just look at the official lego ships to see how they have the bowsprit attached. You use the new type of masts, I think it will look better if you attach it with some technic parts via the cross axle hole on the base.

Hi, welcome to Eurobricks! Are you using prefab hulls (hulls from official lego ships)? As for some practical advice I suggest the first thing you do when building a ship is to decide where its masts are going to be and the location of the cannon ports (an appropriate distance between cannonports is 4 studs (the cannon ports being 2 studs wide)), that is atleast if you're building a ship with cannons. I'm planning to make a tutoral on 'how to build a good-looking but economic ship' but I can only really begin with that next month (and I'll need to work on that title as well). To post pictures...

Any chance we might see that in a stop-motion?

Nicely done, some green overgrown plants would be a nice add I think.

It's beautiful, as said earlier, the rigging is phenomenal. I bet some natural daylight would make this ship stand out more in the pictures .

So far it doesn't have any attached weapons but being invisible is kind of a weapon on its own I think. During the safety procedure (when the submersible is to be abondoned) the external ballast detaches to reduce weight so (hopefully) it comes floating on the surface And ofcourse there's the escape hatch to allow the operator to swim to safety .

Nice vignette, I like the decorated base, I never tried that so far. That pillow looks great but how do you keep it together in one piece?

Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Sebeus I replied to Si-MOCs's topic in Guilds of Historica
I imagined it to be pedal-powered (like a bicycle) although I had the Idea to power it by 'waterbending' (Like the submarines in Avatar: the last airbender). -
Thanks for the feedback. Yes but also for transporting goods. Hehe, indeed . That's a good Idea, I might just do that .

Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Sebeus I replied to Si-MOCs's topic in Guilds of Historica
The Kaliphlin waters are now reinforced with a submersible one-man craft. I haven't built anything for ages . -
(Free build) After the effective Barqonian Interceptor a new sea-going craft makes its appearance... The Barqonian Intruder, a submersible designed to travel (short) distances unnoticed. I am currently in a 'submarine' mood and since Damaximus and Synbiote suggested that such craft would actually fit in the world of Historica (or more specific Kaliphlin, which is after all most advanced in Sea-based technology ) I decided to give it a try. I grabbed my box of old brown and within minutes I had a design, perhaps not completely new as this craft shows some similarities to one of my earlier MOCs (Submersible Intercept Craft: AquaShark). Because this creation advanced so fast I forgot about a quite important aspect, air supply. There's no use in having a submarine if you can't use it longer than you can hold your breath . I have to find something for that. I hope you like it, the Intruder is scheduled for its maiden voyage in November at Mpya Stedor (Brickmania Antwerpen) More pictures will be available at Brickshelf (once public)

The cabin interior has most definitely improved, the deck is a great add too, that was really something the original SES lacked. The stern is a bit overdone I think, (the lanterns and upper white arch bricks ) Overall you did a great job.

It's very nice, I wouldn't bother too much about historical accuracy, take this fantastic ship for example: Scarlet Snake (by Yawgmoth), It would fit in perfectly eventhough it's a very unusual design.

Nicely done, the cabin area looks a bit cramped but also cosy. Good job on the sails.

May 4-5 ? Nice, I was exhibiting my pirate creations at an event too that weekend I was pretty nervous too at my first event, it got better on the second.

I can't find how to leave a group on Flickr (I just want to leave this one group), does anyone know if it was even possible before the new design ?
-
I did, it was pretty embarrassing because I knew more about their lego collection than they did themselves Nothing was complete though, a few parts from a Caribbean Clipper and Saber Island. If I had neither of those sets I think I'd pay 100 euro but since I already have most of them (and Eldorado Fortress is on its way )... I'm not very interested in buying sets I already have.

It more difficult to recognize some kind of structure now, less evident to get an overview Still, personally I think it's too early to cast a judgement, maybe over some time people will say it's much better than before. Either way, currently when I'm checking Flickr it seems to be flooded with pictures saying "Flickr is dead" or similar .

Jade Haar Sneydehr, the best barber of Historica!

So that's how you lost the beard I bet there aren't a lot of barbers around in Historica.- 19 replies

Well done, the quality of the render is very good too, keep it up

Well that's very small, that dark bley piece looks a lot like a piece that was broken off a shovel (I have one like that).

Why the Rainbow MOCs and did you do it?
Sebeus I replied to Hrw-Amen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I just remembered an old creation, I wanted to build a castle but I didn't have enough grey bricks so I combined grey with yellow and then I took black-and-white pictures , worked great actually. -
The pros and cons of being an exhibitor
Sebeus I replied to ShaydDeGrai's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I only exhibited my creations at local events so far and I have 4 events on my record (spread over 3 years), transporting my MOCs outside the country just seems so unreal . Either way, I can only encourage exhibiting your creations -
just for reference: The Seagull, The Beauty. Personally I'd stick to one mast for a hull without midsections and I would set that mast a bit further back than CGH did, about 3 or 4 studs closer to the center. Only the big masts sink into the hull, smaller masts often don't go all the way down but usually they still cross atleast one deck. I'm not an expert though. If you go for a two masts design maybe you can, instead of a central door, make two doors and leave the mast in the middle (if there's enough room for that, maybe for doors of 2 studs). Some pictures would indeed help .

Nice, I love the sea monster (the new add?) and the little Island scene, X marks the spot. Overall it's a very fine layout, considering you had to do it alone, maybe you can team up with someone for the next event (if you can find someone interested in building Pirates), more builders make a bigger layout .
