  1. This is very nice, I love the rotary turrets, greta job on the overall shape and color scheme.
  2. I'm not sure but I think it's a pretty recent change. but why?
  3. Initially my answer would be Never, for no money in the world. However, what if someone would actually offer me a crazy amount of money for my MOC? I really hope that never happens, I wouldn't know what to do... Parts and time put in a moc have a price but does sentimental value has a price too? I tend to grow fond of my mocs over time.
  4. Yes...YES! This is what I'm going to do, I have a 6x6 dish in black, that will work too I think, I'll either dump the wings and go back to the submarine or add some more like SI-MOCs suggested for a fighter, depending on how it will look with the canopy closed. Thanks a lot .
  5. Not sure if anyone can help me with this... I just don't know which way to go with it, it started as a submarine but I couldn't find a proper roof for the cabin (which was hard with that windshield) so I then had the Idea that it would be a snow hovercraft (with ski's). For some reason I had to add those big orange wings which have no function at all for the moment. So then I had some kind of flying speeder in mind. Oh and in the mean time I found a sollution to close the cabin but it does not fit the current design. Anyway, this random building process resulted in a vehicle of which I can't say anymore what it is. I haven't encountered this building problem before...
  6. Great compromise, combining the different techniques like that results in a new technique on itself, which I'm liking very much. The capstan looks great, keep that up.
  7. Using an excisting design as a start could work, it worked for me, my first moc ship was a heavely modified Skull's Eye Schooner (Sorry about the photo quality, it seems that improved along with my mocs). Ofcourse you need some sort of design to start from in the first place. About those castle-hulls you have; recently there was a moc posted here using similar elements, perhaps it could inspire you. HMS Dark Tan Beauty Either way, good luck.
  8. Nice, very much in line with the forestmen nature.
  9. Yes, that's confusing in LDD (extended). It's not in the category 'panels' but you'll find it in the category 'doors and windows'. If you still don't find it try searching "wall element 1x2x1", I hope this helps.
  10. Lovely ship, I like the low cabin, it gives the ship a sportive look, as if it could pull up with the wind really fast. More guns are not really needed, this looks more like a ship that would use speed and agility as an advantage rather than firepower, I wouldn't change much about the shape of the ship. In my opinion all it needs is some work on the gun deck, that area looks a bit cheap compared to the rest. Nicely done.
  11. I have a lot of discolored blue bricks, in my experience blue, white and (old) light gray are most sensitive to shifting color.
  12. Very nice, the color scheme works great, keep it up. I like how you closed the gaps on the stern hull piece, I have a great sollution for those gaps as well and I thought I would have been the only one but it seems not .
  13. I have some plates which partially lost their grip, they had been used in a big ship for a long time, they stretched a bit. I believe it's because of the combined use of different lengths of bricks and plates, encountered mostly at big creations. The lenght of eight 2x1 bricks is not exactly equally to one 2x8 brick, I think the multiple smaller parts force the long parts to bend when assembled. I'm talking about a MOC here though, sets are usually relatively small so the problem may occur less. I think you pretty much summed up every case.
  14. There are exclusive items to Europe? also sets? I used to think we were missing quite some stuff exclusive to the States.
  15. I miss my alien spacecraft . (rear view...! ) My first and only spacecraft that actually looked decent...
  16. Interesting, you should know that the gun deck does not need to be tall enough for a standing minifigure with hat, I made this mistake quite often on my old ships, resulting in the ship being too tall like you say. 5 bricks tall is great for a gun deck but when it needs to be a little more compact 4 bricks (and 1 or 2 plates) is also acceptable. Also keep in mind that a prefab hull ship will often look a bit high because part of the hull is supposed to be under the waterline so it's a natural characteristic of the prefab hulls.
  17. Thanks, I do feel like I'm alone MOCcing in the theme.
  18. 8 midsections, that long...but for a frigate that's ok I suppose. From what I can see I'd say modern is the best way to go, it already has that modern frigate look I think.
  19. 1. I'm building this submarine and I'm in need of a specific part, I know I have this part but it's not in any of my sorted boxes so I figure I must have used it on an older moc... but where? 2. Eventually I do find the part but it's used in a moc I want to keep The result is that I've spent so much time looking for a part I won't use anyway. Yep, that's what bugs me quite often, I don't suffer the frustration of MOCs falling apart anymore, lately I've been assambling my MOCs in a more structured manner (or perhaps I'm just more carefull ).
  20. Not bad, dark tan over brown works great. I think the mast should be a bit taller, some rope work would be a nice add as well. As for a name I can't help, I barely find names for my own ships .
  21. This looks good so far, any progress on the stern yet? (I find that usually the most interesting part). How many midsections does it have? Btw, a Mocpage is public the moment you post it, unless you used some specific words in the description (like swearing).
  22. You mean you'll demolish both sets and use the parts to build one big creation? I would suggest placing the baseplates like this; Raised baseplate, next to it the blue baseplate, next to that one the other raised baseplate. So you have some kind of sea-passage, then you can build a bridge over it perhaps or just add some buildings on both rocks.
  23. Very nice, I like the cute eyes, the transformation reminds me of Alien.
  24. I wouldn't say that's a problem, I can't stick to one theme either but I'm fine with that. I've been building in so many themes, it's not a problem, it's a quality. What you learn at one theme can be usefull at another (like Technic is usefull to provide functions in System themes). I do see how you consider it a problem though, contributing to the Guilds of Historica on a regular basis doesn't work for me for example .
  25. I'm currently in a nostalgic mood, I intend to expand this chunk of blue underwater rock and add a big aquanaut base along with some aquasharks. For now however I'll just stick to this small aquanaut vehicle. This vehicle was not meant for collecting crystals, it's a defensive fighter against the Aquasharks. Under the hood are two harpoon cannons concealed to serve as its primary weapon. The Octopod was the first aquazone set I got and I started from that design to come to this. Now let's see what's under the hood... The flippers actually fit nicely in a grill tile. I'm planning to get some aquazone sets (including the big aquanaut base) to expand my aquazone-themed MOCs. Feedback is appreciated, I provided building instructions (Lego Digital Designer) for the interested: Building Instructions (right click - Save As) Some support for my Cuusoo Submarine would also be appreciated .
