  1. BL set inventory includes spare parts, so it's easy to see what you are missing and then order any missing pieces (if they are important to you).
  2. Sorry.. please delete
  3. Very nice, but I feel the Cabana has too many large pieces for a poly?
  4. The wings are the same. There is also a bald eagle model in the new LEGO Worlds game, with the same wings in black with white outline, hopefully it's a sign of things to come :)
  5. As I said elsewhere, looks great!
  6. Since there are 4 of them and they are arranged symmetrically within the tower, I'd say they are meant to represent statues/ornaments.
  7. Yup, you're right. LEGO should stop spending millions on market research and simply ask you what they should be making.
  8. LOTR is not Castle, the target audiences were different. Castle is generally aimed at 8-9 year olds, LOTR was aimed at 11-12 year olds + AFOLs.
  9. My last 4132 window is here - pending another inventory check, I think I just managed to complete my Cafe Corner - with minimal substitutions! Too bad I won't be able to build it for another week or so due to work :(
  10. Fantastic! Feels like you successfully LEGO-ized a small piazza somewhere in Trastevere :)
  11. Another factor is that "big gray castle" sets no longer sell as well as anticipated. Previously, the main market for the castle theme was Germany; however, according to some recent sales data I've heard about, German kids these days prefer Star Wars - in fact, the German market has become eerily similar to the US one. So it would make sense (in my opinion) to stray away from the human-centric sets in favor of something more fantasy oriented and more colorful.
  12. Are you sure private US sellers don't declare BL earnings for tax purposes? That's a huge tax fraud over there, and cheating the IRS is worse than murdering someone...
  13. It should also be noted that all Egyptian temples and other important edifices were painted in REALLY bright colors. The reason they all look tan now is because of sand erosion. The pyramids were fully covered with polished white sandstone slabs and topped with gold.
  14. Sauron never appears in the books in his physical form (and the silly flaming eye on top of Barad-Dur thing doesn't exist either... the eye in the books is not a physical manifestation). That didn't deter generations of Tolkien fans from enjoying the works and it didn't prevent Sauron from being a credible threat. Intangible is sometimes scarier than tangible.
  15. I really like the asymmetrical building style and the color scheme, it's awesome. Who cares if it's Strasbourg style or not when it's awesome
  16. Looks great, Andy! I'd certainly buy several copies of the set if it gets approved by Ideas. The Dim Sum House is awesome as well. @lightingtiger - Andy certainly is a master builder and he has a certificate (LCP) to prove it
  17. You have some very expensive parts in that MOC :D
  18. BIke Shop's official price was 70 EUR, so any comparisons should take that into account. If you bought it for 42 EUR, great, but then you should have waited for this set to drop to 25 EUR before buying it...
  19. I've now ordered the final parts I needed for CC. Baring any postal issues, I should have a completed set in 2 weeks or so. The most difficult part to order? White skis. There are so few new ones on BL now. Fortunately, I realized one advent calendar came with 4 skis and there was a seller selling that advent parted out into subsets, so I managed to get at least those 4 fairly cheap and from 1 seller. (I generally avoided getting used parts, and for white parts which are easily discolored, getting used parts is a huge gamble unless the seller is REALLY trustworthy IMO)
  20. This summer was never an option, the earliest possible date is winter/spring 2016.
  21. It's a very nice MOC but unfortunately completely unfeasible as a set.
  22. Ok, so I substituted the 20 white panels for 20 windows (10 with glass, 10 without). I also dug up some more bricks from my loose parts collection, so I am now down to just 38 pieces missing to complete CC. Is there a particular reason why I need to hunt down type 1 black door frames, or can I sub type 2? Oh, and I recently acquired a 99% complete loose Green Grocer for 400 EUR, so that saved me a lot of time and trouble. There are a couple of yellowed pieces I need to replace, but nothing major. Once CC is complete, I'll finally have a full modular building line and I can focus on building my own modulars.
  23. No, really, that's all I got. All the people I know are under NDAs, so cryptic hints are as much as I'm going to get.
  24. "Start saving money, you have some huge expenses coming" Another hint ;)
  25. I need about 100 parts to finish my Cafe Corner... and things are starting to get crazy expensive. The 1x2x3 white panels for windows are insane... remaining doors are insane... not sure if I should stick to the original parts or use substitutes.
