  1. Yeah Meatman, most of the model is from the 8880 set, but there are many oher parts that have been added. I think what confused you is from the very start he says that he didn't buy any extra parts. I think he means that he already had everything that he needed to build it. It is really cool though, I have never seen that model before.
  2. Nick Barrett is the reason I'm an old school Technic semi-purist (along with Ape Fight). I love how his cars are nearly as realistic as anything by Crowkillers, using only classic Technic and with that wonderful classic Technic feel. Yes, I'm a little biased. It is quite amazing what some of these guys can do with just technic parts.
  3. One of the worst things about studded technic parts, when they get dirty, they get dirty. Especially Black.
  4. I managed to find the motorbike last Sunday. It is a very cool model.
  5. Jerba, that is a great idea Meatman you may want to ty that. I think You will probably just have to pay a few dollars for Ebay to list. I have never sold anything on Ebay before, so I don't know how it works. Also, I am not sure what Paul meant by "They are probably working on a similar design" that is just what he posted at his blog in the comments, so I don't know if that is the exact answer he got or not. Nico, did you sell that model that you were offered 700 for? It seems that you could have made some nice money from it. Also if you have 200 offers from people that want to buy your models, you should consider doing something as soon as possible. Also, what do you mean about the copyright with Lego and selling ideas? How are these other people doing it? Is it technically illegal to actually sell custom kits? Brickmania sells custom kits, do they have some special agrrement with Lego?
  6. $100 for a 676 piece kit???
  7. Looks like the Crow got shot down. Crowkillers said... Well, I got a response back from Lego and it was pretty much what I expected. Basically the automated - Your design would make a brilliant set, but unfortunately we cannot legally use your design and we already have a team of experts in Denmark who spend all day dreaming up new designs and models and they are probably already working on something similar to your design. Oh well... I tried.
  8. What about this here? Someone used instructions from Designer Han and then sold the model on Ebay. Designer Han's Truck
  9. I agree orange would be awesome. I highly doubt that Lego would do an actual supercar under the Lamborghini name. I think if we ever see a technic styled Lambo from them, it would probably be the 1/10 scale type with limited features.
  10. I know Crowkillers has been selling his MOCs for years and I have seen a few of them fetch well over a $1,000 USD before. I actually read an inetresting post from his site last night when someone questioned about the price that his Gallardo Kits have been selling for. While it is pretty cool what he is doing, I also feel that he is wasting his time, especially if there is no significant profit to be made. Crowkillers said... You do realize that I start the auctions at $1 and it is the Lego fans and collectors that are driving the price up right? Anyways, I will break it down for you. First off in order to do a kit I have to order parts from all over the world from many different dealers. On average a Kit normally costs me between $250-$300 for parts and shipping, not to mention how many hours I spend browsing from one online store to another. The chroming of the wheels cost $40, then the set box is $3 and I also have to print up the covers and stickers and CD Rom inlay and then burn a CD, not to mention the 3 months that I spend developing the model. Then after it sells, I owe Ebay Over $40 for Fees and Paypal takes 4% So if I sell a kit for $425, that doesn't leave very much room for profit does it? For some reason people see the Dollar signs and assume that I am just doing this for the money, but obviously that is not the case. I am trying to make it easier for everyone who really wants to build the model the opportunity to do just that. The average person who would like to build this model from scratch would probably have to wait around a month after downloading the instructions, and ordering the parts because they will be waiting for their international part orders to come in. Then there is always the risk involved with ordering from other countries. When a kit is purchased from me, all of these issues are taken care of and you can start building the car as soon as it gets to your house. I am just trying to get my design and model out to people, not retire from it. Like I said before, I offered this design to Lego. It is up to them if they want to release it and make it available at a more affordable price. -Paul Now did this person sell their own MOC or is this someone else's MOC that they followed instructions and built? If this is someone selling someone else's model, that doesn't seem right.
  11. How do you keep the gears from moving on the axle? Like when you pull the connector between the gear back, what prevents just the gear from sliding back on the axle? I know those bevel gears don't normally fit very tight onto axles.
  12. I just finished my new model and it is awesome to say the least. This is easily one of Lego's best technic models ever. The build was just so much fun.
  13. New Technic Parts are much easier to clean that old technic parts. That is for sure.
  14. Whatever happend there? There used to be tons of people that posted there, but now there is only like 2 or 3 new posts a week, if that. I think many purists may have been turned off because of all of the modification to parts that seemed to be accepted. Last time I checked, there were around 16,000 registered members, but that can't be right. perhaps it got slammed with spambots or something?
  15. It's just at Paul's site at www.crowkillers.com The blog isn't really being used properly though Just click on the comments.
  16. Well, here is Paul's reply from his blog Thanks for the heads up. I got an e-mail link yesterday about this. To tell you the truth, I really don't care. Sometimes you just have to accept that things like this will happen. It's not like the guy is selling off his design or making money from it and if he can, then more power to him. It looks to me more like he was just using whatever parts that he could find to compensate for the ones that he didn't have. The whole reason why I made this model was to try and do what I felt a true Lego Designer would have done, mainly because of the negetive feedback that I always seemed to get that my models used too many pieces or were too complex, but then you have to expect that whomever builds the model will change it up and modify it however they would like. There are no stipulations when it comes to building that you must follow the original plans to the "T". If that were the case, The Lego Company would probably already be out of business. I have received quite a few e-mails asking for me to redo the model and add suspension.... I built this model for all of you guys, do whatever you want with it. Also due to the 100 or so e-mails that I got asking about different colors and such, I offered this design to The Lego Company. Just knowing that I actually designed something that was on a store shelf would be awesome. But I haven't heard anything back yet and more than likely never will. Just build guys! And have Fun! -Paul
  17. I also hit crowkiller's site several times throughout the week to see if he is working on anything new and to read the drama that people create in his blog.
  18. Wow. that is so awesome.
  19. I have mine ordered from the toyrus website.
  20. So getting praise and pats on the back for someone else's ideas and designs are not a big deal? I somewhat agree, it's not a huge deal, but I certainly would feel funny inside when people told me how great my model was when I knew 50% of it wasn't mine. I also checked out the guy's mocpages and he has pictures of a Murcielago that he is building that is already earily similar to Paul's model that he did. And considering that the original Lego Lambo desingner not only calls it a Lamborghini Gallardo but also has stickers on it that also represent the original car and it's maker, then I would say full credit has already been given. Now if he took the Lamborghini design and replicated it and called it something else, then that would be different. It's not like he is working with sheet metal and a metal lathe. I also found it humorous that the guy who built the modded version of Paul's car even mentions something about people stealing his photos of his car on that Brazilian site. I Agree with you guys. If you are going to Mod or change an existing model from TLC obviously people will know what you have done, but if you are building and altering a MOC from an AFOL, then that is something much different and you should at least say where you got the idea from. That is my 2 cents
  21. I find it odd that the Toysrus website has all of the new technic sets except the motorbike, meanwhile crowkillers posted pictures of it yesterday and claimed to have bought it at his local store.
  22. Paul has pics of the New motorcycle up at his website and claims that they are available in the United States. I hope they have them all I am hitting Toysrus first thing tomorrow morning.
  23. I have built this as well and the problem with the driving rings isn't so much as them slipping on the newer styled axle connectors, but it is the fact that it just isn't very fool proof as you can change gears too easily whithout disengaging other ones, then you have problems. I also posted in another thread that I would have liked to see pictures of this fitting into a 1/10 scale car. If you did in fact fit this into the 599 GTB, wouldn't there only be 4 or 5 studs between the roof and shifter? The design that I have built is the newer one and I have it built correctly but 1st gear and 2nd really seem to be rough. Still it is a nice idea.
  24. I have built it as well, and I am looking at it next to my 599 GTB model and I can't imagine it fitting into it and not looking strange. You have had to have done some serious modification to the interior of the car. The gears also seem to bind up pretty roughly in 1st gear and 2nd and the shifter can move very easily from one set of driving rings to another without disengaging them. I still commend the designer on his efforts for this unique design. This transmission is 11 studs from the bottom to the top of the transmission shifter and the 599 GTB is 15 studs from the very bottom of the chassis to the roof. Do you have any pictures of it fit into your 599 model? I would like to see how you did this.
