  1. Is it bad when a set looks like a MOC? That criticism doesn't make much sense to me at face value.
  2. They're obviously shoulder blades and not boobs; stop reaching so hard. In generic City sets, as @MAB has pointed, out, the characters are just people, and the possibilities are endless, but @Aanchir's original point was clear enough - that sets from themes such as Ninjago and Star Wars cannot exist outside their media tie-ins. Fanon is and always will be important in any medium, but having a TV show based on the theme makes a character's gender identity and sexual orientation canon, and that is how one would have a definitively gay character in a set. Representation in media and toys is an important part of childhood, and (no joke) that's why all my minifigures have always been left-handed: to be just like me. Care to define "this stuff"? Do you mean perhaps normal and harmless interpersonal relationships, which we can contrast with guns, swords and other weapons that feature in many LEGO themes? If we can accept the latter with the mindset of "calm down, it's just a toy", then surely we can do that for the former?
  3. 6079 beyond a shadow of a doubt for this group.
  4. That's sick! Congratulations on the good luck!
  5. Wow, I could really get behind the Pirate Bay!
  6. Lovely build - how heavy is the cockpit? Does it naturally want to fall down on the click hinges?
  7. The boy is also standing in a kayak, so unless they chase Selkies and Kelpies, I doubt it's got anything to do with spooky things.
  8. Would someone please post a photo of the fabled manatee? I am curious to see what it looks like.
  9. I would have thought that if you're focusing on building a castle, things such as blacksmith's shops or grocers should be standalone buildings *within* the castle's baileys. Do whatever you want, though - this build is really coming along, and I enjoy the updates.
  10. 3738 for me, because the OG King Leo's Castle way better than 10176!
  11. Oh, that's nice!
  12. This would end up with a portion that isn't flush with the rest of the frame - as @rodiziorobs points out, this would be an opportunity to make a decorative detail.
  13. Actually, @Mandalorianknight, cross-referencing with Tidy, I'm completely wrong.
  14. The poster / page announcing these set numbers says that they are action-packed duels, which I mentioned way back on page 54, and nobody noticed but Yoda vs. Sidious isn't a totally wild guess with that in mind, especially since the image on the poster shows Yoda.
  15. Good luck with your build!
  16. If they're trans clear then technic axles through the tall bricks won't work! Then reorganize as follows: If you're looking for a solution where you can stick everything together with studs so that the frame is flush, it will be much bulkier. It looks like you're building a wall to set this in, so that might be tractable.
  17. The simplest thing is probably to technic axles in there - 2L for the 1x1 bricks, and longer for the 2x1x6 bricks - as long as the sections will just rest one on top of the other and not have to resist any tension forces. sorry, I mean the 2x1x5 bricks; just hit the wrong key.
  18. I admit I'm surprised at how quickly some of the projects reached 100% backing. When I look through the projects, there are numbers for parts, unique parts, and "Exclusive Part", and every set has only 1 of this part. What is that part? Some kind of custom-printed plaque? Or did the designers happen upon a shape / colour combination that coincidentally doesn't exist in any other set?
  19. Agreed - the line is there to compete with the Funko Pop figurines, but I find the Brickheadz much more interactive, plus they're great parts packs for SNOT brackets and the like.
  20. Then we'd get "TLG should stop releasing the Mallard set", "the merganser theme is boring, LEGO should retire it", and "Why won't TLG release a red-crested pochard just for meeeeeee?"
  21. It's wonderful - great job with such an iconic spaceship.
  22. Can you be clearer about what you mean by "remake"? Because as @MAB pointed out, there are oodles of reimaginings of concepts such as castles, police stations, drilling machines, mobile command centers, etc, but above you said which is a much more specific subject to base a set on, and TLG does remake the X-wing routinely because new children enter the Star Wars fandom every year. Are you suggesting that the fact TLG last made castle-themed castle in 2013 means "they don't happen anymore? Do you instead want a re-release of Black Falcon whatever, or Fort Legoredo? Looking back at SW, the last system-scale Slave I before the one announced last week was in 2010. Last year, I could have bellyached that "TLG don't remake my favourite spaceship anymore, they suck" and I would have been just as or even more justified in my complaint as you are, complaining about castles. For the sake of context, the most recent pirate ship was also released in 2010. @MAB is exactly right that the moment TLG make a new X, AFOLs complain it's been done before, and the moment they don't, AFOLs also complain that their special interest is being neglected. Going ad hominem for a moment, I am annoyed that you come into our community just to stir megablocks up. And anyway, it's just building bricks so you can easily kitbash your own pirate ship, so why not make a MOC instead of complaining?
  23. "Ah, there she is — the Ebon Hawk. My pride and joy; the fastest ship in the Outer Rim!" - Davik Kang. It's been a long time since I've made a Star Wars MOC - 12 years in fact, and my last effort was a rainbow-warrior Delta 7 built mostly from the old Clone Turbo Tank. I turned my attention to the Ebon Hawk, the Falcon's expy from the Knights of the Old Republic games. There have been some excellent versions of this ship over the years, notably @IRONDUCK's playset version, but I wanted to build something of a system "scale model": Here is the Hawk in comparison to the 7965 Millennium Falcon. The Falcon is officially 25.6-ish metres wide, and the Hawk is a little smaller at 22.5m. The ship's proportions were driven by the 4-wide cockpit: IRONDUCK's MOC and the official LEGO Falcons are all a bit chunky in order to fit an interior, but since I took a "scale model" approach, there is no room inside for minifigures. Structure takes the areas occupied by the bunks and cargo holds, leaving us with the central area and the hyperdrive room, which I captured on the Hawk's internal security camera: I pasted my model over a couple of frames from the end cutscene of KOTOR II: Lastly, whom would you pick to fly the Hawk: Atton, T3-M4, or Carth? Thanks for looking. Please see more renders on Flickr.
  24. It's an interesting shape - good luck with the build.
  25. Red Beard Runner, Black Seas Barracuda and King Leo's Castle were all re-released exactly once so this is a bit of a misrepresentation.
