Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
jimmynick replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Is it acceptable to ask TLG to replace parts with wonky prints? The Boba Fett fig that came in my 75243 has quite an off-center print for the visor. -
This is a cute little build - I love the white/yellow/dk. bley colour scheme. It does remind me of the 6520 Mobile Outpost, which I fondly remember getting for Christmas quite a long time ago. The extra wheels inside the caterpillar tracks are nifty and the utilitarian look of the sled is just fantastic. Lovely build, thanks for sharing!

Using the Galidor thing as the moose's head is really clever. Love the antlers too, as well as the rest of the accoutrements. This is such a creative build, thanks for sharing!

Having come back for a second look, I really enjoy the pigeonholes and shells above the reception. The car on the street is great - the headlights and front bumper work wonderfully together, and the lt. bley is a decent stand-in for chrome.

LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
jimmynick replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
On a different note it bothers me slightly that the 20th Anniversary promo figs are described as "identical" to the originals when they are plainly not - first of all there is the 20th Anniversary logo, then the lightsabers are silver rather than chrome, the brown is new brown rather than old brown, and so on. I'd be a bit happier if these figures were described as "replicas" instead. edit: elsewhere in the instruction manuals these anniversary figures are indeed described as "replicas". -
LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Having built the new podracer this evening and read the material in the instruction booklet, I'm a bit surprised at how little any of the TLG representations of Anakin's podracer look like the one from the movie - but the one in the movie looks boring so the TLG version is just fine for me -
LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

199 AUD? That's nuts... In the US it comes with a spend of 75 USD (though I did go well above that today). I enjoyed it - it's a nifty little build, the way you construct the planet surface is semi-modular, and the 20th Anniversary plate is printed. Very decent. Me too! I went to the Pentagon City (Virginia, USA) shop today and there was a LOT on offer - pretty much everything except the 20th Anniversary wave, the Sandcrawler and the UCS/MB line (i.e. Tantive IV, Y-Wing, Death Star, Millennium Falcon, Cloud City). The discounted items included current stuff, like the Duel on Starkiller Base and the Action Battle sets, which really surprised me. Keychains & such were on offer also. I was thinking of him just last week... it's such a shame he's died, seemed like a really decent guy. -
This is such a nice build - the armor panels are so smooth and meticulously put together. I love the little details here and there, and the legs are nice and sturdy too. Great job on the walker, but it seems like the landscape could do with a little more love. It's cool that you've got some sand red in there, though!

Big day today: I got the 75243 Slave I, 75258 Anakin's Podracer, 75259 Snowspeeder and the freebie 40333 Battle of Hoth. It's the most I've spent on LEGO at once since 2013 and the largest fraction of a wave I've purchased since 2006. Like I said, big day for me.

Oh I see what you mean now, I initially thought it was code for something. Got it, thanks for explaining

Sorry, I seem to be out of it. What's a "rainbow tile"?

This is such a lovely idea, and I'm so happy to see other people building in the style of the Architecture line. All these builds have such personality, thanks for sharing everyone! @Redhead1982, that was a great idea to include a river in your skyline!

I think everyone's comments have some merit here. @ProvenceTristram I think part of your problem is that you are largely a trains guy, and trains are a niche topic. I like to build in the Architecture theme and the digital builds I do never get as much attention as I would like but part of that is that Architecture is a very niche theme, so few people are going to want to drop in on one of my threads to begin with. I know I definitely don't often get around to the Train Tech subforum very often. Also, the Star Wars subforum is overrun with discussion about current sets, speculation about future ones, and highly active topics concerning "canonical" MOCs. Smaller places like Action & Adventure Themes are a little more welcoming, I think. I can think of possibly one or two people with more money than skill but they are very few and far between. I do think there is some bias against digital builds, but some people (e.g.) @Bricked1980 get lots of traction with their work, and this is because of the widespread networks and relationships they are able to develop, alluding to what @makoy said. Absolutely. If I didn't want people to pay attention to the things I do (as infrequently as I do them... ) I wouldn't post MOCs at all. I mean that's true, but way back at the beginning of Eurobricks it was always people sh*tposting about Star Wars & such. As intimidating as it can seem here, at least we have a community. Classic-Space is dead, FBTB is dead, Classic-Castle is just about holding on. Then there's Reddit, but that feels hugely impersonal and alienating compared to here.

The Forest 3 Mafia Confirmation & Discussion Thread
jimmynick replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
This is very sad news. This must be an awful time for TPRU's family, and of course his death affects this community too. I am glad I once had the privilege of playing his Ragnarok Now Redux, and I'm glad that Pernilla is a tribute to him. -

Ah, this is awesome! I love the shape of the platform (I'm amazed it's as thin as it is!) and you've done a great job with the inlaid SNOT tiles. The ribcage(?) is sick - those Mixel joints sure come in handy, don't they? The rest of the scene is OK, I suppose, but the most eye-grabbing part there is the rounded and studly base. Great job, thanks for sharing!

I find the microfighter dewaback really quite cute. I bought the 75205 back in November and built it just today. It's a nice build, what with the play features and figures and speeder, but it feels a little bit small. Perhaps I'm out of touch or maybe I'm splitting hairs, but when I compare its size to other SW sets I have around, it seems more like a $35 than a $40 set to me. I suppose part of that must account for the new (and exclusive) Greedo and the printing on the sandtrooper. I know some people really care about detail & such on minifigures but I am not one of those, and wouldn't have minded had TLG supplied a regular old stormtrooper (instead of the printed version) and saved a buck on MSRP....

I agree, I think it's those panels stacked sideways. Will have to see. That's a decent solution they've gone with for the pediment on the National Gallery, so that's nice.

This is a really cute build, I love that you've gone for a Brickheadz Obama but also built an Oval Office to the same scale. You've done a nice job evoking dangling flags, and the flagpoles are nice too.

I didn't know that trick existed! I was aware from others' builds that the hockey mask was a flashback suppressor, but very interesting to know about the train axle. Now I look at this model again, I also appreciate the torpedo tubes, which I know you pointed out in the OP but didn't catch my eye before. This is something else that works really well in this model. @markhchan, thanks for sharing the Brickshelf folder! I'm not sure I had ever seen that before but your 2001 MOC has a lovely old-timey charm about it, which I really enjoy.

I think everyone thinks they suck after hosting a game... at least that's how I felt when I hosted Red Menace (though it was objectively not well thought out). I hope one day to be a true Loyal Pirate breaking Captain Redbeard out of Ford Eldorado.

The Forest 3 Mafia Sign-Up Thread

Well unlike you then, my username tells the truth I've never played a Hinckley game before – I'm excited to start! -
This is a nice entry to the contest! Of all sets I thought might be adapted into SPACESHIP!s, this is probably the last. I happen to disagree with the above comment: I enjoy the tentacles and I think they work with the old-timey pirate ship theme of the original set, almost as if this is a mechanical kraken in space.
