  1. My general view is that if you want perfect scale models, LEGO isn't what you should be using.
  2. I ordered some of the MR52ZZ, which arrived today. I've just tried them out. Firstly, I can't get the bearing to go into the technic axle hole. But I knew they were a tight fit, as stated above, so I figured I'd just file a bit of the plastic away until they do. Before that though, I thought I'd see how the metal axle fits into the bearing. Well, it doesn't. Not just tight, but actually physically won't push more than a fraction into it. So I guess that line of experimentation is finished. Oh well.
  3. Yes, it's easily UCS-scale. It'll also be on display at Brick 2016 in Birmingham (UK) next week
  4. I suspect they set the pricing for this set before the EU vote. Second half of next year. That's probably when we'll see the lower value of the Pound start to bite.
  5. Thanks both! I used this part for the windshield, as it looked the most realistic when finished: Dome Ø.63.77 W.Combi Hinge (LEGO) / Windscreen 8 x 8 x 3 Dome with Dual 2 Fingers (BL)
  6. New pieces: 2x2 corner tile with diagonal cutout, in the pavement. 2x2 curved tile! Top of right-hand building 1st floor. 4x4 curved tile! Top of left-hand building ground and 1st floor. strange black large curved piece in the roof of the middle building. Can't see any more, but there might be. So so many details.
  7. Very nice! New pieces in the pavement - a 2x2 corner tile with diagonal corner. It doesn't split though. That's a bit of a shame, but hey, I guess you can't have everything.
  8. It amazes me just how many people on here have so very little common sense...
  9. 'Let's kill off a successful line, which still has many years to run', said no business, ever. I very much doubt they'll kill the Modular line. Why would they? No reason at all.
  10. I posted about this earlier in the year, but I've now finally got around to finishing it (although I still need to add footplates, but that's a relatively small job). The Dark Orange colour-scheme was quite a challenge, due to the limited range of pieces available in that colour, but I'm very happy with how it turned out. A link to my Flickr album is here, which contains a lot of WIP photos, together with descriptions.
  11. Right, I tested it out, and it seems to run fine on ME-models R104 track, but derails on the R88 track, as it's too tight a curve! I also forgot to video it. To be fair, I was more concerned with making sure it didn't crash into the train which was already on the R104 track! It looks great though, the pics really don't do it justice. I'll take some tomorrow morning and post them on flickr in due course.
  12. As I said, I don't tend to do videos. I might do when testing tomorrow, but I might forget.
  13. I've had it on bends, and running along a piece of curved track about a foot longer than the train, just to test it will actually pull it around, but other than that, not yet no. I don't really have a large enough space at home to put the R104 track out. I'll be testing it this weekend at a show (although it won't be running for the public to see).
  14. No. I don't tend to do videos, and I've not yet had it running anyway, given that it's not yet complete.
  15. Still waiting on a few parts. I'm not expecting them until sometime in October now.
  16. Simple - I don't use them In theory it'll stay level, as one end will rise up at one side, and the other end will rise up at the other side, raising the whole carriage and keeping it level. In practice? Well, I don't know, and I doubt I'll ever know either. I've made it to run on ME-Models 104R and 88R track, given the length of the train. Consequently, anything tighter than that will force the bogies to turn to more of an angle than the tilting mechanism can cope with, forcing it over the limit and derailing the carriage when the bogie tries to 'right itself' along the next straight. Lego track is far too tight for the train anyway, given how long each carriage is. The points (switches) are even tighter than the curves. I hate running trains through points, and don't use them at all when at shows.
  17. Erm... that's not going to be possible, because of how I'm tilting the train. Oh well. I'm not going to have it extended anyway.
  18. Thanks! It already has a tilting mechanism
  19. I've been told the remaining part of my order of plastic track will be with me by the end of October, in time for Brick 2016.
  20. Thanks! :)
  21. Actually, I just downloaded an add-on for Firefox called Custom Style Script, and added the following CSS, which does the job nicely :) #ipsLayout_contentWrapper { max-width: 1200px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; } A more permanent solution would be great, but I don't know how many other members it would upset...!
  22. Sure, please post one on here. I already have quite a detailed photo of that section of the train, so I can't guarantee I'll use it, but I've not yet done the pantograph, so any ideas are welcome.
  23. Great job guys! It does look different, but the mobile version of the site is much better - logging in on the old mobile version was such a pain in the a**! It will take a little time to get used to 'return' creating a space after the previous line though. One question, is it possible for me to alter the max-width of the forums? I'd love it with a bit of a border each side, rather than stretching the whole way across my 1920 wide monitor. Thanks! :)
  24. Nah it's ok, everyone does things differently. Oh, and something else I just remembered which might have had a bearing on how you designed the roof - the roof is 7 wide on mine. Just to complicate things even further!
