Exactly, it's your opinion, not a fact.

FTFY.

People complaining about the price compared to 10173 clearly don't realise the impact that 10 years of inflation has on prices...
-
I suspect that it'll actually be the opposite way around, in that it's the real train enthusiasts who won't buy it, whereas the general public - who aren't as bothered about colours and accuracy - will buy it in droves. Lets face it, the general Lego-buying public far far outnumber us 'real train enthusiasts'. I also suspect that because of this, TLG knows what it's doing...

I could completely understand the removal of the picture and info, but the whole thread? I just don't quite see why the whole thread had to go.

What happened to the topic? Did it get removed?

The whole WV range is labelled 'expert'. Bear in mind that it's 'Creator expert', which I take to mean more advanced builds than the Creator range. Anyway, hopefully this train will do really well with the target audience (I think it will) and will get little Johnny and little Timmy wanting more Lego trains. Hopefully if it does well, TLG may consider doing a few more trains...

So when you see the WV building sets, you don't think "but it's open to the elements on one side! Everyone will get cold! And where's the bathroom in these buildings?" The whole WV range is stylised, it's not really meant to be too realistic. I think that as train buffs, we should just relax a bit, be glad that TLG actually made a train (remember when we thought there wouldn't be one at all this year?), and that it will keep the Steam train wheels in production (and therefore keep the mould current) for at least another year or two. Chill, dudes

It's a Winter Village train. Did you really expect it to? That'd be like expecting the WV buildings to measure up to the modulars.
-
It's exactly what I expected from a Winter Village train, and as such I'll definitely be getting it. Sure, it's not a 'realistic' train, but it was never going to be! Where are all the people who moaned that we never got a WV train since the last one? Here it is, and everyone is moaning that it's not realistic. People are never happy.

I like it! It's very much what I thought it would be - similar to the Constitution loco.

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Pictures and Rumors

Ooh, I'd guess at more than £200 and less than £1000. -

Interesting, I'd not tried that with the flexi track. I did notice that if you have a tile on the Lego rail sleeper, it's almost impossible to attach the ME Models track. You have to remove the tile, clip the track together, then put the tile back on. In terms of glue, I used MEK on a lot of mine while at Bricktastic, and will be getting some to do the rest of it at home. As has been said, MEK is strong stuff, and needs to be used in a well-ventilated area. It's also apparently very flammable, so store it in your garden shed or somewhere like that.

Airjitzu flying machines
Paperballpark replied to Paperballpark's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Good point... -
Has anyone managed to make the Airjitzu flyers actually controllable? As in, hook them up to PF? I bought the parts for one a few weeks ago, and after a bit of brick mutilation, managed to hook up a PF motor. The video can be seen here: https://flic.kr/p/Ke1cW8 (spoiler: it didn't fly). I replaced the motor with an XL one, and added some more gears to make it faster still, but it still didn't even get close to lifting. I'm wondering whether I need yet more power, or maybe four going at once, or maybe they're just not meant to actually fly in the way I'm trying to get them to? Also, any tips on how to embed a flickr video would be appreciated :)

I thought about it, but I'm not an experienced Technic builder, and the build process looked far too complicated for me to be messing around with. You'd effectively have to reverse the entire gearbox (and probably the paddle-shifter too), as the shifter connects to the left-hand side of it.

Yeah, who'd have thought it - toys looking like toys!

[PRESS RELEASE] Announcing 10253 Big Ben
Paperballpark replied to Jim's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm intending on doing the full building next year. I'll probably buy the individual parts rather than extra sets though. I roughly worked out that you'd need about 15 or 16 extra sets to do the whole building... -
42056 - Porsche Speculation
Paperballpark replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm hopefully getting it at the beginning of July. Apart from a small £5 set, it'll be the first 'studless' technic set I've ever built. Obviously I've used technic beams etc in mocs, but this will be something else entirely. -

I want one of those green Technic Pins! -
Very impressive, but do I spy clone-brand bricks in it? Quite a lot, from the look of it...
