A solid addition to the hamlets of Avalonia! As others have stated, the color choices for the building are fun.

**Book II Challenge V Official Announcment**
mrcp6d replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
My Category A entry for the Alliance: -
As the Black Spire gathers power, a new hope for Historica is discovered--the High King's heir! Riders were dispatched quickly and quietly from the Beggar's Inn to the four Guilds and then to all corners of free Historica to spread the word. Thorir carries this news through the snow-covered forests in the foothills of Mt. Mitgard towards the Bay of Storms. Woohoo! I built! This was a bit of a panic MOC thrown together this week. I had a wyvern going for this, but the darned thing was getting way to big to fit on 256 studs, so that'll get put in a freebuild or something at some point... Also, new camera! C&C always appreciated!

I remember this from CCC. Nice figs, really good wolf head!

Book II Challenge V Category A: Stopping the Algus messenger

Good (sort of?) to see the Algus again, solid vig too Puvel. -
I'm with Henjin and like the domes here. Nothing wrong with a little architectural variation, especially in Kaliphlin!

The dark red + olive works oh so well.

Lovely all around SK. But.... as an engineer I can't avoid addressing your truss designs any more! Each layer really ought to look like this: / \ / \ / not like this: / / / / for the diagonal members. Reason why is that the back and forth arrangements produces a very stable and stiff structure, while the consistent direction arrangement is prone to twisting and eventually compressing under vertical load. Get some marshmallows and toothpicks and test it out. Then, eat the marshmallows. Rant over, I'll go back to being a LEGO fan now.

Book II, Challenge V: Cat A -ClearFalls Encounter (Pt.1)
mrcp6d replied to Legofin2012's topic in Guilds of Historica
Nice work on the MOC, I really like the rock and snow scaping. However, I think posing the dead Spire soldier and the staff on the black border is a bit of a misstep and detracts from the build. If it's still together, I'd recommend repositioning such that they're on the "true" MOC and reshooting--my two cents. Also, tauntauns are always awesome!- 17 replies

Challenge V, Spire: A message laid bare to the world.

The photography really stands out here--great work! (One of my Lego goals this year is to do some dark photography.) -
Book 2 - Challenge V Category A: On the lamb (Alliance)
mrcp6d replied to Grover's topic in Guilds of Historica
I like this quite a bit. The cliff is well executed, the tree is cool, and the story (which, frankly, I often ignore) made me chuckle. One thing I think doesn't really work os the transition from the "stump" section of the tree to the truck. I like the studs as texture, and think they ought to have continued all the way to the ground (flaring out with additional plates or hinges or something) instead of switching to slopes.- 15 replies

Beautiful build all around ME! There's too many nice details to point them all out, but I will mention that I greatly appreciate the in-construction building. we don't get too many of those.

A wonder look back, I can't wait for more!

Very nice! Love the simple but effective arch design.

Challenge: "A safe haven"- Celebrating five years of GoH!

I can't believe it's been five years! This looks fun though, and timed long enough that I can probably get something in. -
Lovely shaping here, especially the windows.

Regular green, not bright green. Looks like there's about 20 pairs just across the boarder from you in Germany. -
I re-read my post, and realized my intended interpretation of "obnoxious" was unclear! My apologies if offense was taken.

I saw this on Flickr a couple days ago and I love the all-black take on the Penguin car!

gedren, is it you that is the Kaliphlinite language/English/grammar teacher in that obnoxious "real life" thing or is that @Gideon ? Or am I completely misremembering...? @Jacob Nion As both an engineer and a Texan, I could be uniquely unqualified for this discussion; however, that won't stop me from chiming in and endorsing the knowledge bestowed by the "squiggly red/green/blue" lines that occasionally appear under the text when using modern versions of Microsoft Office products. If you're seeing them, chances are pretty darn good that you've got something not right.

Wow, I'm not a maritime expert at all, but this craft looks amazing.

I'll disagree with Titus and Jacob on the dark bley, I think it's a fine choice to contrast the white and red. That contrast is one of the awesome things about this build for me, it sort of slaps you in the face; which I appreciate as a counterpoint to some of the more muted color palates castle MOCs have been using for the last few years (started/enabled by TLotR lines?)--this is not to say that I don't love that aesthetic completely. If memory serves, this exact color scheme is used by a pretty successful near-future military/sci-fi AFOL theme/faction as well. However, my memory doesn't serve well enough to remember what it is/was called or get to any links...
