Lego A/S now looking for a sustainable replacement for ABS
weavil replied to Phoxtane's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That's what I was thinking.... The price being a main or only reason. The price of anything is mainly the cost of raw material/resources and the cost of shipping. -
Weavil's MOCs
weavil replied to weavil's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well they are not cheap. They are from the 5571, so I only got the 6. The other 2 are 68.8 like the other 6, so I figured they would work for now. -

Finally got around to making an LDD for a crane arm I made. From what I test it holds up very well (to me that is). Haven't done anything with it yet, because I need the parts to try and finish my wrecker. Here is the file for those interested--> Pneumatic crane arm.lxf -

They hear the students cry about price, then they offer a discounted version as "Home/Student" and leave ,what they feel as, basic functions of the software. This happened with Microsoft when they released Office 10 (I think) and something else. Usually pirated stuff has the same limits as the retail version that is pirated. If something is wrong the person who did the crack it at fault. -

Use the rotate tool when adding each link, but after you build a scaffolding to put the base on top of the tracks. Then use "select multiple" then select each track piece and copy it to the other side. -

It could be the non school use... Because some software made for students is cheaper, but has few features. Like the file types supported that only pertain to training/learning of the software. -
Both of these make sense to me. That's what I am going to do when I get more sets.

So here is what I got so far: So after a month of hard work I this big thing to show for all my hard work. I got stuck quite a lot and had too remake the LA drive assembly. But I'm almost done. got to finish the cab and try to get some free wheels for it. Just need 4 more 68.8x24 and it will be done and that is why it has the balloon tire for now. http://www.bricksafe.com/pages/weavil/Wrecker -
Holonomic Wheels on Cars
weavil replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
They're designed for low speed and ZERO-impact neutral steer. Drive, stop rotate 90°, and continue on. But for an actual vehicle, each "roller" needs a brake, power, or another means of controlling when they can move. However, that would be easy for any light thing (i.e. a robot), but for a 3,000lb vehicle it would tremendous force to keep the "roller" from moving. Other wise stability of any kind would not be achieved. -

There is a way to make the steering work. Add power/drive to each roller on each wheel unit. http://www.danielbauen.com/holonomic/index.htm But are are talking no steering or no steering? -
