  1. Excellent build in the Eslandian style, the red roof, white walls, and balcony are great, and the blue flowers and garden patch add some color and a touch of everyday life! I might advise using a couple less colors in the path up to the house though, especially the black looks a bit out of place Great job overall though, and as Kai and Kabel mentioned, shooting in the shade or on a cloud day will help with the shadows!
  2. Very nice building from the exterior, Capt. Wolf, but the interior really is what stands out! Brilliant round window, and that roof and you technique for supporting it are of course excellent as well!
  3. Excellent and engaging story and very nice build, Full Plate, those trees do indeed look realistic, and the shack's wall is superb! The field is excellent, but I do think the landscape over all could use a few less colors to look more coherent, and the shack's roof unfortunately blends into the trees Great job with the photography, as Gideon mentioned, you really make the minifigure stand out!
  4. Superb ship, kabel, wonderful work with the curve you managed there, and the colors and clean deck are really awesome! Great parts usage with the cannon, and the hatch is a technique that I've seen in a few places, but it still looks just as excellent as the first time! Great job with the rigging as well, and really intriguing story - looking forward to where this leads, and what the king's reaction will be when he finds out!
  5. Really great work with that hurricane, KB, and the minifigs' posing and expressions and the micro-ship are very nice as well! Let's hope you can get some better runs this time around!
  6. Excellent build, Captain B, and the story is absolutely awesome as well! All the details around the room are great, but some of my favorites are the instrument extracting the phlogiston from the bottle, the tilted potion, and that superb bust/hat display! Oh, and the monkey of course! Also, there seems to be a letter from someone here for you, eh, ha ha, here it is! Having heard of your remarkable sucess in the area of the use of phlogiston to elevate a weighted matterial of cotton previously used as a - in short, as a skirt, I have been almost led to reconsider my thoughts and make your worthy self the mayor of the prosperous settlement of Eslandola and the ETWC - in short, of Pontelli - instead of that honorable Colonel Brickinson - though of course, he would be left to do all the work anyhow. It is my hope that this dispatch my reach you before you have blown your house to bits and pieces, but if not, bon voyage! E. T. Wilkinson de Chauncourtois
  7. Awesome fig and beautiful build MP! Great to see you over here!
  8. Ha, ha, no! He said that (what I said) last time you threw him in there though, so I figured it was probably still the same! (I could be wrong though!)
  9. Love that new banner and the headline, KB! And of course Gideon's build is simply awesome as well!
  10. Erm, how come Kabel keeps getting lumped into the MAESTRO trade company? He's the KING!! (Or the viceroy, if you mean his sig-fig, but he's already said that the viceroy doesn't even have any idea why the king granted MAESTRO a charter in the first place! )
  11. I completely agree with you here (on the first point)! Eslandola did not attempt piracy! In fact, it only hunted down ships from a couple of hostile nations, while pirates have the ability to attack anyone. However, if you want statistics, a 2A made 140DBs in a single run on a pirate hunting expedition. A poor reward, really?! The problem, I think, is simply that hardly anybody has even tried it! Edit: Oh, I should specify though that the 2A was working with a couple of 4As as well, as that could have had something to do with it!
  12. Alright! After reading/skimming the comments here there are a few things which decidedly need to be clarified! 1. Eslandola attacked and took two Sea Rats vessels - both of whose captain's/owners were previously engaged in piratical activity! Whether they happened to be on a trade run when we attacked them makes absolutely no difference - they were clearly pirates, and clearly justice may be given them for their previous actions regardless of what they were up to this time. Moreover, in the selfsame action they took the King of Mardier from us and sailed away with it. A case of Eslandolan aggression against some "friendly neighboring pirates?" I believe the Sea Rats have no case at all here, and that the probability of the court case going their way is (and ought to be) pretty much nil. 2. I have a sinking feeling that the reason the Sea Rats want their 5HA back is to raid a nation's settlement with it. Not! - Not, note, that I have anything OOC against the Sea Rats raiding other nation's settlements. By all means, I would be quite happy to see more predator runs from the Sea Rats! (Also note that, as mentioned, we had no way to know that the Sea Rats had all turned into peaceful () traders - we simply sent out a couple of warships to attack nations which had proven by their actions that they were hostile to Eslandola). 3. Why aren't the Sea Rats going on predator runs!?!?! I really don't get it! You do not want to know how much profit our captain's who captured ship during the last MRCA made! 4. No one is trying to treat the Sea Rats as a nation. It is the Sea Rats who are trying to take another nation to the courts, and, really, that makes no sense to me (especially given the captains'/owners' of the ships very doubtful credentials...) They can't get another free ship because in the same action those lovable Sea Rats took our King of Mardier and sailed off with it... This is the rule and it is not going to change. No faction may have more than 5 unMOCed ships, and players may have non, so capturing a faction's ship is only another incentive to build more! NPC pirates do not work like that! (However, I will not go into all the hidden game mechanics, as they are, well, hidden) About 2, there was absolutely no way that Eslandola could even know that the Sea Rats were going on a single trade run last month. They plan their runs in secret. They had previously chased our shipping (that they didn't actually catch them was hardly their intention!), and, as Kai said, off course we want to avoid war at all costs with our pirate friends About 3, we are not going to take the Sea Rats to court! It makes no sense whatsoever. Period. As I've pointed out, it is the Sea Rats who are trying to take us to court, and not the other way about. I completely agree that they ought really not to act or be treated as a nation - I would be happy to see it decided that the Sea Rat faction can neither take another faction to court or be taken to court. Individual Sea Rats with good credentials obviously could though! About the predator runs and raids - yes, raids are extremely hard to pull off - however, predator runs are very lucrative and not at all as risky as some seem to think! And in such confrontations the Sea Rats (contrary to the ideas of some here!) almost always will have the advantage. We sent out three ships against the Sea Rats, all of a relatively smaller size - they had (and have) practically the whole faction to go around crushing other nations ships with! I am almost positive that the Sea Rats sent out their ships on a predator run the first MRCA with the intent of attacking ships from any and every nation passing their way. The simple fact is, no other nation has the time/supplies to crush the Sea Rats! We simply cannot send out all our warships against them, as we need to protect our convoys from other NPC pirates attacking us. They have the huge advantage of being able to attack everyone without having to run the huge risk any other nation would have. Those who set up this game (looking at you Ska! ) did an excellent job! This is precisely what has happened here! The King of Eslandola sent out a few ships in response to those nations which have been known to prey on our shipping. No problem here! If there is still any discussion on this topic could we please take it somewhere else or wait for the case in June? This topic is about Eslandola vs. Mardier and has nothing to do with the Sea Rats! @Jacob, alright, I'll transfer you to the other team then! In other, and more on topic news, it is highly likely that if this case goes against Eslandola they will declare war on Mardier. That is the point of this court case! We aren't going to say, "Oh yeah, go ahead and prey on our shipping and we'll leave you alone!"
  13. Neat interior scene, SW (for some reason that looks like Star Wars or something... ), the desk and hat rack are excellent, and the minifig activity is portrayed very nicely as well! Keep it up!
  14. Woah! Yes, the 32x32 guideline was never meant to restrict the build to a square! The general rule is that in such a case the stud count must be 1024 (max, min, whatever) in any shape. For anyone that got the idea that that was supposed to be the exact dimensions of the build, that was decidedly not the intention of the rule!
  15. Do you want to build us a Class 1 T, Captain B? We've got - eh - 25DBs right now, so the company could pay for half of the licence and we could divide the other half between ETWC members (maybe 5 shares, 5DBs a share?) What do you all think?
  16. Nice color-scheme and menacing-looking ship, Kaiju! The cabin and stern are excellent, and the story is quite intriguing as well. Looking forward to more!
  17. As several other people have noted here, the guidelines for the plot sizes for the EGS licences are exactly that - guidelines. There is not an extremely strict rule as to what constitutes (e.g.) a medium rather than a small commerce, and there is a plenty of room for innovation and creative ideas. However, it is a good idea to determine officially whether the guidelines stand as guidelines for the minimum or the maximum size of a build, or the middle ground (there seem to be different members who held all of these ideas!) This is currently being discussed by the leadership and we hope to get back to you all about that pretty soon!
  18. Beautiful build with an excellent composition, Jakorin! Great job with the Tudor and stone buildings, and the cobblestones are excellent as well, as is the minfigure activity. It's great to see more everyday life scenes in GoH!
  19. A few things here to note: 1. As Kai mentioned, this is not the case of a pirate (Bloody Bill) capturing a ship - if he had taken the Queen of Terelli it would be toast! Rather it is a case of Eslandola's challenging the nation of Mardier for allowing its privateer to prey on our shipping without our being at war with each other 2. Vessel Sink: Warships captured by pirates/states at war with each other are automatically removed from the game, as well as all vessels which go to the bottom. If you look at the previous MRCA results it is pretty clear that there are plenty of ships getting wiped out each month! The sistershipping thing (which I am by no means fond of) is a problem regardless of whether there is a method to get captured ships back or no. I completely agree that it is not the intention of the game to make it possible to get back your ship no matter what happens to it - however, I believe suing another nation as in this case does not cause any problems there. 3. Saturation is indeed a bit of a problem, but really, a case like this does not affect the entire member base nearly as much as even a small or faction based mini-challenge - only six builds are being asked for here! 4. Having the case end up that the winning side could buy the vessels for 50% of the licence value doesn't make much sense (IC) to me - what kind of judge is that? If Eslandola wins the case, they will obviously get the ships back, and if Mardier wins, they will clearly just keep the captured ships. Having Mardier pay extra to those who support it while Eslandola's builders merely receive the 10DBs is an excellent idea though I can see absolutely no reason (IC of OOC) for forbidding members from other factions to support Eslandola though. 5. I do understand the concern about building against your faction though, but I believe the leadership may easily deal with this when it comes up. Though if Mardier offered 200DBs to its supporters if they win the case (as per somebody or another's suggestion) I can completely understand a bunch of Eslandolans signing up for that (and would have no problem with it)! 6. Finally, barring the case of some people signing up for the faction they would like to see lose and doing a very poor job on purpose (which, as mentioned earlier, would obviously require the leadership to crack down on those builders), I can see no concern about "unfairness". Any nation may bring another to the courts at any time and for any reason. Build-offs are one of the methods for conflict resolution, and setting them as the default for court cases between a faction and an NPC nations provides no difficulties on that score. And, as mentioned, build-offs are certainly primarily in existence as excellent incentives for MOCs and stories!
  20. Thanks all! Thanks SK! The scales were actually surprisingly easy (probably because it was then that I decided that not everything needed to be attached )! Thanks a lot de Gothia! Glad you like it! Thanks JN! I doubt I would have thought of it myself though (at least I wouldn't have gotten around to it for a while! ) if it hadn't been for MA! And yes, I do kind of wonder how I am ever going to be able to scale this down a bit to fit in some minifig scale MOCs here! Thanks again!
  21. Wow! I thought it might take a while to finance with such a large amount of shares and I'm already in danger of being ousted only a few hours later! I guess most of the MCTC members had made more profit lately then I thought! (Not a bad thing at all, let's show them, Eslandola rules whenever it comes to DBs )
  22. We've got a few things up our sleeves, but that is a good point about being quiet... we might want to take some of the conversation to this thread instead of the PM. It would at least help us with the more grandiose look I hope to (finally!) finish editing my ship pictures and have another small build up by the end of the month, and then I have some more things to build (though more generally for BoBS) after that. No one seems inclined to take up the offer for building a large plantation though... hmm.
  23. Myles Bowditch will be buying one share in the Royal Factory! Let me know when to transfer the DBs...
  24. Very nice story, Phadeout, particularly that part with Rudolpho and the bearded chap! Excellent build as well, the activity, tree, and cobblestones turned out quite nicely here!
  25. Excellent upgrade, Mike, it really does look better like this, and now (in my humble opinion anyhow! ) fits the new licence quite well! Great photography and very nice edit as well, and I have now come to realize how difficult that is with a large ship!
