Do you always try to have a backlog of sets to build?
Chills replied to BirdOPrey5's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Cool thread! I thought I was the only one who did this, but looks like I'm not alone. I like having a few sets always in reserve to build. Right now I've got about a dozen, including the Sandcrawler. But I've been spending my time working on a big, expensive MOC: My basement! When it comes to making a MOC with LEGO I'm sadly not very creative; especially compared to the masterpieces I see posted on this site. So I'm one of those who buys LEGO sets to collect them. I enjoy collecting and displaying. Maybe I'll end up trying my hand at MOCing... but it's hard to bring myself to take apart the sets and mix up the pieces. -
LEGO Digital Designer. You can DL it from TLG's site.

Christmas 2014 is coming up.... 2015 is still over a year away.

Very cool, thanks for posting. TLG in 1981=Facepalm! Imagine if TLG started producing SW sets back then, how much they would have evolved by now. And we definitely would have had more than one UCS Millennium Falcon! lol (maybe we'd have a UCS AT-AT by now, too)

Why don't you design one in LDD and then price it out on BL yourself? It's a relatively straightforward process, limited only by your design on LDD.

I completely agree. Most sets I get on eBay are disassembled, but if they come together or partially assembled it's not a big deal to me. I just take it apart so I can clean and inventory the pieces.

My oldest set is the yellow castle and up until last year it was in a box, in my childhood closet. I went back home and picked up all of my old LEGO. I'm really impressed at how well the set and the mini figures have held up. The stickers are a little worn on the edges, but they are still holding strong. Only a couple of the red mini-windows have cracked, but the rest of the pieces are in perfect shape.

Marvelous!!! I'm a big fan of TLG's version of the cantina (I got it in recently and have yet to build it) but this version looks just fantastic! I guess I'll be searching eBay in a few months for a mini-figure-less set for cheap so I can do this MOD, too.

I should have bought a set when I posted they were back on S@H in the US. That's what I get for hesitating. I'm now checking the site a few times a day with my credit card in hand.

Awesome find! I'd love to have one of those sitting around.

What Star Wars set would you never ever sell?
Chills replied to rexusprime's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I really enjoy all of my sets, and wouldn't want to sell them. There are some I like more than others (Death Star/SSD/UCS ISD at the top of that list) but there's one that I'm quite underwhelmed with that would be the first to go: 7672 Rogue Shadow. -
Agreed. The front is too large; the main cockpit window are angled down a lot more. But this is an interesting thread. Keep at it!

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Chills replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I saw it years ago, someone had it on VHS when I was a kid. I remember thinking (even as a kid) "WTH???" It was pretty bad. But I would LOVE to see it again. -
Just checked S@H and it's available in the US! Looks like I'm getting mine.

[MOC] Steampunk AT-AT: The All Terrain Aristocratic Traveler
Chills replied to Rolli's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I've never been a big fan of steampunk, but I can appreciate the creativity that goes into a MOC. This is probably the best one I've seen. I love it! Great color choices, excellent interior detail, and I really like how it's not just an AT-AT in different colors; it's been totally redesigned. -
Pretty cool. It looks a lot like the Viper fighters from BSG.

[MOC] Old Republic Sith Inquisitor Darth Severus
Chills replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I love when I open up EB and I see Bob has a new MOC. Looks great! Has a sinister/Imperial feel to it, and I like the creative lower fin in the back. Bold design decision. -
Bravo for finding your collecting niche. But why do you have to insult people? Poor form, nokialover.

ATAT and snow speeder mico fighters sound pretty cool. Those are definitely on the Want list. So is the T-16 and the Shadowtrooper battle pack. I only get PT sets if they are really cool and iconic, so I'm curious to see what the AAT is going to look like. If TLG does a good job then I'll have to pick that up, too.

Wife went today and found it. The first Imperial Shuttle in my collection!

I sure hope TLG makes more of them. I really would like to buy one.

Excellent mod, and really cool video. I'm interested to see the innards and how you accomplished this.

This isn't a dismissal of feminist concerns. If TLG were grossly sexualizing the mini figures then I could see the point in getting so upset. But TLG is only putting curves to differentiate between women and men in a child's toy. Sure, not all women look like that, but the curved hips and breasts is universally seen as being feminine. That's just how we are wired to identify the sexes. And this isn't some crusade by TLG to make all girls think they have to have hourglass figures; these toys are tested ad nauseam in focus groups and the end result is what you see TLG producing. To autorzr, I see where you are coming from. Would it be acceptable to you if TLG always made a "male" version of the female torsos they produce? That way you have your freedom to create as you please without being constrained by negative spaces on the female torsos.

A 911 would appeal to a wider audience; I am fond of the mid-engine setup the Boxster has. Plus, I have a green one. I'd be happy to any Porsche along the lines of your other MOCs.

Do you like 7671 and 7250? If so then don't sell them, keep them. The posts in this thread are opinions about the sets, your's may differ. Personally I have and really like both 8038 and 7671. Each set has its pros and cons; but both are cool interpretations of the same iconic SW walker using different building techniques.
