  1. I was at Meijer (Chicago area store like Target) last night and I was checking the box out. At first I was not impressed, but looking at the features on the box it looks pretty cool. I still wish TLG tried to put more stuff inside (it seems a bit sparse) it's not as bad as I thought. I'm putting it on my Wanted List. It's a pretty good version of the ISD so I'd like it in my collection.
  2. I've been looking for that set for a few months now. I'll head over to Target to look again.
  3. Yep, its in the scene where the sand troopers find the escape pod out in the desert. The Sentinel is seen in the background taking off.
  4. Pulled the trigger and ordered the Cantia from S@H. Added in a Death Star Trooper pack to get the free shipping. I already have one of those, but more gunners and guards will look great in the Death Star set.
  5. What parts fall off, and what do you use to dust? I use a swiffer duster and don't have problems with anything getting caught on the duster or popping off.
  6. I live in the Chicago area. Chances are we'll get some snow this winter. That's a good idea to put the set along with my other Hoth sets out in the backyard for a photoshoot.
  7. Excellent MOC, and instantly recognizable as a Lambo. Do you take requests? How about a Porsche Boxster S? (in British Racing Green if possible)
  8. Very cool! I'll be watching this thread to see your progress. This structure has special meaning to me. My wife and I went to the top of the Campanile on our trip to Venice the day after I proposed to her. We were astonished at the view from up there. The city is breathtaking from above.
  9. Gotcha. I'd do what JopieK suggest and check the pieces for tiny cracks, you may find a few that are causing the problems. I still have all of my sets from the early 80s when I was a wee lad and only a handful of pieces have cracked. The rest work like new and the sets hold together quite well.
  10. That's a pretty subjective question. You might find it on sale at a retailer later on, but if you really like the set and it's in your budget I wouldn't worry about if others think it is overpriced. Go ahead and get it. Honestly, every time a new set comes out there are people on EB that will say it's overpriced.
  11. I've taken my old pieces and wash them with warm water and a gentle dish soap. Then rinse (a plastic colander works great for this) and lay them out on a towel to air-dry. When you say the sets are fragile and they crumble, are you saying the pieces actually crack and break or the sets don't hold together anymore?
  12. The shape looks SOOO much better for the set than the bubble canopy that's currently on it. Good idea! I've got this set and I really like it, with the exception of the weird cockpit canopy design.
  13. Thanks Gremer! Hola amigo! What have you been up to lately? Ok, so I'll wait until October. Ugh, that will be tough.... but it'll give me more time to work on my current project. Like TitanArch says, I don't think buying that pack saves you any money. I saw it and will probably be picking it up when the double points days start.
  14. So the new sets are out and I'm itching to go out and buy them all. However, my wife suggested I wait until TLG has a double-points month. Does anyone know when they usually have those?
  15. Same here. All sets except Cantina... the one I want most right now LOL.
  16. I completely agree about the LAAT. It even transports troops like the Hind does (which it's the only one of the 3 helicopters that can). LOL@Glenn Beck as a Jedi
  17. With all the talk about these two gunships I'm surprised that no one has mentioned their similarities with actual "gunships" we have in real life today. The front/back cockpit configuration is the most prominent. Then the chin-mounted guns, and missile/rocket pods on the sides behind the cockpits. Plus, none are elegant-looking like a fighter. They are ugly, utilitarian weapons. I think it's pretty obvious where the designers of the LAAT and the Wookie gunship got their inspiration. AH-64D Apache Longbow MI-24 Super Hind Eurocopter Tiger
  18. Yeah, mine was in the manual.
  19. I would venture to guess that TLG released this set not because of the importance of the Wookies in Rebels but because of where the set falls in the new line-up. I'm thinking this is probably one of the mid-range sets in the line-up, which means we'll see a good smattering of larger and smaller sets around this theme.
  20. Maybe this has been asked, but what's the big deal about having a definition of what sets are UCS and which aren't? Is this so a completist can say they have all the SW UCS sets? Honestly, I think if TLG marks a set UCS, then that's what it is. If TLG doesn't mark it then it's not a UCS set. But what does it matter? Does not having the UCS label make a set more or less enjoyable? Or even more or less desirable?
  21. I found the ISD at BaM for the exact same price. The other micro fighters were also $10.99, so I thought the ISD was a mis-printed price sticker. I guess not. Still a great deal!
  22. I like it! Those Wookies look really cool; great detailing. I'm looking forward to the Rebels cartoon if we get to see stuff like this. Definitely on my Wanted List. Regarding the design. I must agree the ship is a drastic departure from the organic-looking vehicles the Wooks used in ROTS. One of the coolest things about the Kashyyyk battle was the dichotomy of technology of the Separatists vs. the Wookies. This ship looks like it came from KDY or Incom, not a handmade Wookie craft. Hopefully Rebels will give us an explanation. The ones offered in this thread are sound (technology evolution/importing), and I'll be curious to see how close to the mark they are.
  23. I agree, the techniques used to create the curves make the ship actually look more jagged.
  24. Using the Billy Bookshelf I have as a guide the MF will fit in the Detolf.
