  1. I've had my eye on that set for a few months. What, may I ask, did you end up shelling out for it?
  2. How deep is the Detolf? I've got mine in one of the 15" deep Billy Bookcases with glass doors and it fits just perfectly.
  3. Like GuyDude said, Bricklink is a solid place to look. I bought Rouge Shadow not too long ago; got it from eBay. It took me a while but I watched the auctions closely and nabbed one from a collector for lower than what was on BL.
  4. Good point. I will be patient and enjoy the better prices.
  5. And we here in the U.S. get to watch our fellow LEGO fans across the pond enjoy the new sets. Maybe I'm just a wee bit jealous.
  6. One thing to remember, if you order online from Walmart or Target you will pay local sales tax. If there is a phyiscal store in the state which you are shopping online you'll pay the taxes. I recommend checking Amazon dot com or YoYo dot com. Both have good deals on sets.
  7. Very cool, Jerac; your fame is spreading!
  8. Thanks for posting the comparison pic. The Droid Escape trooper was my favorite until I see it next to the Cantina version.... the latter has a much better printed helmet. As for the leg printing, it looks like LEGO can only print so far down on the leg. The Droid Escape trooper's printing is more to scale with the minifigure; which makes me wonder why LEGO changed the size of the printed detail. Making it larger definitely reduces the quality of the look.
  9. WOW!!!! This is just incredible! I spent a while just staring at the pictures, soaking in all of the detail. I enjoyed reading your descriptions, as well; it's great to get the background of the construction. I really dig the bridge tower's detail, you even have the actual bridge section in there. I have to admit that I didn't think this was made of LEGO when I first opened the thread. I've seen the actual movie prop of the Avenger from ESB, and your MOC looks exactly like it.
  10. ROFLMAO!!!! That's one of my big pet peeves about the new Star Trek movies. I sure hope we don't see that kind of misplaced space in the new SW movies. I hope these UCS Slave I rumors are true. While Boba Fett wasn't my favorite I think that ship is pretty awesome and would love a big display piece.
  11. As soon as I opened this thread I got the DoF soundtrack in my head. Now I have to listen to it on my iPhone. LOL Lookin' good so far, ACPin.
  12. Wow! I love the slo-mo section of the video, how the DS starts crumpling, then the top gets shot straight up. Poor Death Star. I have the set and I could never drop it like that.
  13. Thank you. I think those using "greed" are referring to people who sell LEGO to make a massive profit, vs. a smaller profit. Obviously if you can make a bunch of cash on something you must be greedy, right? Where is the line drawn on how much profit is too much? I sympathize with the OP, the spirit and fun of collecting LEGO gest tarnished when people try to make massive profits off of rare or discontinued sets. However, this is the reality of the world we live in, and if we want to change behavior its the BUYERS who need to do it. If no one is buying these sets at outrageous prices then the sellers will slowly disappear. The key is that the buyers have to hold fast, and not buy sets they want at these 'high' prices. The buyers are allowing this 'greed' to exist.
  14. noun noun: greed intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food. I believe those using the aforementoined word in this thread are referring to the motivation of some LEGO buyers; that they buy specific sets simply to acquire a profit (specifically from that of LEGO collectors) instead of buying for the love and appreciation of LEGO.
  15. Drool! That's a gorgeous modded cantina. Was this done just with 2 of the new Cantina sets?
  16. I completely agree. Just because Disney says all of the EU isn't canon doesn't mean I'm going to stop enjoying the books, comics, TCW, or the video games. I enjoy the creativity of the SW universe, and I don't really care much as to what the license owner says is "real" or not.
  17. 1107 in the bank right now, but have acquired about 1800 since coming out of my dark ages.
  18. When I came out of my "dark age" a few years ago I found that what I experienced was a common phenomenon. I was super into LEGO as a kid, starting at 3 years old, and kept collecting and building until I was about 14, then lost interest (around 1990). Then the Star Wars sets came out in 1999 and I would get a set every couple of years as I passed the toy aisle in Target. But I really came back out when my wife got me the SSD and I started collecting again, and I found Eurobricks and other fan sites. It was cool to hear that there was a term for the non-LEGO years of my life, and that others went through it.
  19. Thanks for posting this comparison. The new ISD definitely looks more movie-accurate, I was never fond of the older version's out-sized bridge tower. It does look small, but I still think I'll pick one up.
  20. HAHAHA! Markus the story is just awesome. It reminds me of some of the time I spent in the Army. Thankfully I was quite sober when I signed up.
  21. I was actually just about to do that; but since some folks in this forum missed out on Revan I was looking to maybe trade him for a figure I missed out on in my dark ages.
  22. Well TLG sent me a Darth Revan immediately after I called; but then yesterday I got another one in the mail. Should I keep it or put the 2nd one up for sale?
  23. ahhh, the head is bigger; that explains it.
  24. Really? I would like a side-by-side comparison. It looks like the body of this new version is smaller than 8129.
