What type of plastic are Technic elements made of?
Front replied to Carsten Svendsen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
A lot of Technic parts are made in other materials than ABS. The same thing can be said about a lot of LEGO parts. You don't want to put anything on a plastic part, which is heated even close to the melting temperature of the given plastic material. You will get quite big local deformations even though the temperature is not at the melting point. Erland Part Design -
Bricklink got inventory of what looks like all the new 1 half 2013 sets. Nice.

I like this set, 2nd to Ogrum. A little bit more dark red shells coming soon

I've never seen these figures before

You guys should not bend the actual axle, but the rest of the part. Parts like these are made in a soft material. They are like all other parts pushed rather straight out of the mould, but when they land in the box beneath the machine, they may actually bend a little bit under the gravity of all the other parts landing on top of it. Accelerated a bit because the part is still warm. More likely, the part get bended a bit in the packing process, or from having a bit of pressure on it in the pouch. You can subject it to bending a little bit in the other direction, for maybe half a day. Maybe by putting it under a book or something. And if you are lucky you end up with a perfect straight part. I guess the site is not fully ready yet, seems strange. I will report tomorrow to the webmaster, if it's nok ok in the morning. Erland Part Design

Using precolored plastic is a logistic nightmare, which surely had to be abandoned if LEGO were to survive.

When they were developing 8051, I told the Technic team that they needed a wide rear tyre. The problem is: make 1 or 2 new molds :-( Money.

Possible rare wheels?

Use them, keep them, maybe sell one day :-) -
It's a cool challenge you've done, using exactly all pieces from the set. The result is excellent. You really worked to use all these bones of the 6-legged scorpion.

2 spikes and chest cover in dark metallic. Chest-shell and 3M shells in dark green. Large hands and feet in brown. All these new colours on parts. Perhaps my favorite set Jan-2013, despite lacking the new-colored translucent claw clip-ons that other villains have.

REVIEW: 70003 Eris' Eagle Interceptor
Front replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I've built this set and find it amazing. My favorite Chima set so far. Glad that I came across this set, the one that appealed to me the most, back when I saw preliminary images etc. I asked some Chima designers a week ago who built it, and was not surprised that Nabii (Mark) http://www.flickr.com/photos/nabii/ is the creator. The birds are nice, and I have been engineering the eagle head earlier this year, based on another designers virtual sculture. In Chima, the minifigures have really raised the bar. Wait, I'm only guessing

Strange that nobody bought a set yet. I guess it's a matter of days before they can be found.

A real LEGO-nerd would be able to tell which bricks was tested, looking only at the force/deformation graph

4 year old boys would like to build a car too. They can now. AFOL are not the target group for 4+ sets Erland Part Design

Would it be too crazy if this one could fit directly onto the head ? http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=92220 (Bricklink part no. 92220)
-
The head has 6 connectors, and one of them is a ball cup :-)

Actually it's really funny to read some of the many comments on the yahoo-site. Generally people are very excited about LEGO making these toys targeted at girls.

BRUIZER will hit you again and again and again, like there was some mechanism.

It is all very simple. The golden age of LEGO is right now. The products produced today, are much more targeted directly at the consumer which are likely to buy the product. The range of products is wider and better than ever. The design of the products and the instructions makes it much more likely that the kid will have a successful building experience. The amount of bricks put on the market each month, exceeds what was put on the market in one year some decades ago. A lot of AFOL glorify sets of the past. Put them together with similar sets of today, build and play, and see for yourself. Please take the modular buildings, the newest train sets, the top Technic sets of the last years, the Friends line, the Creator houses, and compare them with sets of decades long gone. You are absolutely not faithful to yourself, if you thing the golden age of LEGO is not now. Erland Part Design

Is that a fact that a material supplier tested the clutch power ? A property dependant on both friction values of the two materials, and dependant on the geometrical properties of the parts. I guess you are not making up history ? Erland Part Design

Mechanical sculptures
Front replied to aeh5040's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great use of Technic. Building a complete vehicle or similar is too complicated for me, but I feel very inspired to make such interesting mechanical sculptures like you've done here. But it will surely take some time to come up with anything that reach a similar level -
vittoriol, please contact (write to) consumer service at lego.com and tell them about the problem. Tell them which set the pieces (part design no. 6091) are from, and what text is written inside them (e.g. 02-8). Erland Part Design

Except all the non-LEGO stuff that end up on the Front Page each time they anounce something new.
