A great site, bookmarked *sweet* Great to see that some of the speed building records (from previous events) were done with builders from more than one country working together. Front

That train stations seen in several pictures is impressive. Reminds me of a big German train station, but which I'm not sure ? Sorry, it says in your post, Frankfurter Hauptbahnhof |-/ Front

lol, I needed half a minute to realise what's going on in your moc *sweet* Great humor, thanks. Front

Thank you all for comments. I think I will take a break now from posting alternatives, and come back with a big Golden City Tower *sweet* That's what it's all about. Not many of my ideas can be said to be truly my own. I still need a cooler way to activate light bricks. Let me know if you like some detailpictures, of a model taken apart. i still got all my alternatives put together. Not that I think I made something special :-$ but I think I spent some fun time trying to build something. Btw. my weapons are the last things to be made, so the get to look like what parts are left. Should be fun with some unlimited moc'ing. *sweet* cheers Front

Here we go again. After my threads on 7700 Grand Titan and 7701 Stealth Hunter alternatives, the time has now come for the robots to display their firepower. Lets start of with a picture of Thunder Fury and its alternative Compact Thunder: As with other of my alternatives, it has got an extra segment in each of the legs, to give the wide and low look. The legs are with "reverted knees" as I've seen used by others, and checking out the official alternative afterwards, I realised that mine is not that different. The cockpit is completely enclosing the robot from all sides. From the top a roof is drawn foreward, via two joints. The first link (4x2 M beams) carries the sword and also activate the light brick. It also carries the 5M beams, which are attached to the roof at the other end. A 12 barreled canon is on top of the roof, and can be pointed upwards. The other weapons are attached at the upper leg link, so there are no "arms" at all. Here is a view from the top, where sword-beam-roof mechanism has been rotated back, to open the cockpit. The dark grey 1x2 plate with center knob, is what activates the light brick. After I got my second Fire Vulture (7703) I built the official alternative. This is a rather sturdy and nice design. The problem with it is that it does not use the big fan, the big part in this set, which sacrifice other parts while keeping same price point as the other sets (7700-7702). Now this fan is very cool, I have quite some, but it was a real let down to find out, that the inner and outer fans are working against each other. I really had some ideas about making several fans work in a motorised vehicle, driving something like a boat over water. I can only guess that the design is for product safety considerations. A fan like this would probably be able to fly rather rapidly through the air, after haven been spun to high rpm. Here is the official alternative (found some good building instructions for it on brickshelf). I love the cockpit design, with parts rotating down over the robot, from both the fron and the back. I disassemblied the official alternative, and now have made my own, which incorporates the fan into the design. I have named him the Vertical Vulture, because of the vertical axis of the fan. I borrowed some of the cockpit ideas from the official alternative though. Here it is with the official Fire Vulture: Here it is seen from the back, a rather confusing and not so slick design. But functional. The light brick activation design is exactly as in my Crouched Titan, 7701. The robot is enclosed from the sides by the bent liftarms, which at the front are connected to the base-plates with some of those 1x2 bricks with a center technic hole. At the rear the bent liftarms connect to the bionicle claws and further on the the 4x2 beams, that activate the light brick. I must admit I am not sure this build is perfect, and is not stretching(slightly misaligned). If the fan can't make the mech fly, at least it will keep the robot cool on hot days :-$ Front

Fifties Modelteamsized truck
Front replied to simonwillems's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great truck. Completely enclosing bodywork. I have been thinking about building a vehicle, based on the powerfunctions from the bulldozer. I had the idea of using the big motor for drive, and the small one for steering. I guess that would need a big reduction in gearing though to work properly. I suspect the micromotor is something else (NXT) ? Front -
I guess the idea of the Flight Mech could be used for a much smoother set, if I used more parts. I just tried and made the spine twist, and it can to some degree. Loks strange though, and probably serves no purpose. Let me know when I have to see something interesting, I had infact not seen your post. You can build the Flight Hunter with one set, if you can find your pieces *sweet* Thank you all for comments. Front

Thanks for pointing me to this thread. I think the remake of this mech is really good, giving it a more white and smooth appearance. The concept of a mech holding a gun in two hands is kind of strange though. Front

You guys got some great collections of Exo-Force. At the moment my sets are: 7700 (4X) 7701 (3x) 7702 (2x) 7703 (2x) 7704 7705 7706 7707 7709 7714 7721 8102 8103 8106 8107 (2x) 8118 Haven't really got some of the small sets. Front

A bit of an overwhelming thread, lots of good stuff you've made. One thing that is really cool, is your modification of the Aero Booster. I just put that together myself, and realised how silly the mech and booster work together (legs too long to fit under mech, while keeping balance). The light/dark blue The BLIZZARD OGRE is great. Wow, cool, I have all the vinyl or cd's with them, except the last one they made. I like their early stuff best. The first thing that came to my mind with your question was AC/DC, though. Not been a big fan of them. INSX' album Kick is great (the only one I got with them). That has become a true classic. Maybe I should spin that vinyl tonight. Hey, what about Kylie Minouge (not sure about spelling, or if she can be considered a band ;-) ) ? Front

Thank you *sweet* TLC is a nice company to work for. I do run down in a shop though to pick up sets, where employees can buy. It's only 100 meter from my desk. Front

Nice compact building style indeed. It's hard to make out the shape from the photos, as other has noticed, but as you say, that's the idea. The black bricks does help hiding shape too In my opinion I would have liked more bulky feet and legs. They seem thin compared to the upper parts. That would probably also make it more stable, pushing center of gravity somewhat downwards (although I have no idea how stable your model is). I was wondering what kind of joints are used, for example at knees and hips ? Front

I really like the colours of this army. That greenish goes so well with black (as do so many colours thuogh). I like the three battle maschines just as much as the hover bikes. The mini-figures are great, did not know you could get such cool looking stuff. Front

Thank you for comments. Yeah, the Bridge Walker (7713), I would like to get that one, but I haven't seen it yet on the shelves. The same goes with the yellow Supernova (7712). Front

I've never seen those chainsaws before, but I agree the model is better without them on the wheels. Had the wheels been orange, I would have mistaken this fine moc for a official 2008 Mars set. Front

Having made my alternative models of 7701 7701 alternatives, the time has now come to look at the 7700, the Stealth Hunter. Again I got a picture of the official 7700, and some alternatives. The official Stealth Hunter is in my oppinion the best of the four sets 7700-7703. The official alternative for 7700 really look cool. There is no instructions for this set, but I found pictures on brickshelf, that was sufficient. The pictures on Lego.com of this model are rather poor, and if you look carefully, the are a small difference in build between the pictures. Anyway, having built the alternative, I realised that the good look came with the prize: a very little sturdy cockpit design, constantly falling appart. So I disassemblied that yesterday. I started out making a double Stealth Hunter combiner, with the idea of combining the two glass parts, to form a nice enclosed cockpit for two figures. I call this The Double Hunter. Last night it was time to do a Flight Hunter, keeping an eye on design on the official alternative set, especially the curved-spine design of its back. Here are the three models, The Stealth Hunter, Double Hunter and Flight Hunter: The Double Hunter with a double barreled canon and misile launcher. The combiner nearly uses all the white parts from the two sets, but the are quite some ofther parts left in the boxes: The back of the alternative consist of large panels built with "reverted-knobs". I do that with the small light-grey assymetrical technic bushing. A top view: A front view, with the arm spread out: Detail of the cockpit: The cockpit opens by rotating the top and bottom part, where the glas parts are mounted: The Flight Hunter alternative consist of three body parts that can rotate and twist individually. In this picture they are rotated quite some, to form the curved shape used at start and landing: After landing the cockpit can open, and the wings can be rotated back, to limit the space it take up in the maintenance area. The wings are rotated back too in supersonic flight: In flight the body is normally straightend like shown here. This is slow flight where the wings are perpendicular to the body, to maximise lift. Landing gear is rotated back aligning with the main body: A front-view: A view from above: I hope you like my alternatives, I will be back with more Exo-Force moc/alternatives soon *sweet*

Thank you all for a warm welcome. Some of my other interests are computer gaming, photographing and insects (in particular dragonflies). As an engineer I am very interested in mechanical design, mechanism, and geometrical shapes. I am a part-designer in Bionicle, modelling the 3D shape of elements like masks weapons etc. in a Cad software. My tasks is basically to develope the element that the designer came up with, so that it can be moulded in plastic. In that way a try and create parts, that both satisfy the designer and the production. Front

Hi there. Born in '69, living in Denmark, a rather big pleasure in my childhood was to play with Lego, fighting over the bricks with my brothers, trying to achieve the best moc. My guess is that I was an active Lego builder at the age 4-11. My next building experience was maybe four years ago, where I recieved the 8386, the Ferrari F1 1:10, as a token from Lego employers, while I was working at another company, and we had some meetings sharing experiences with some engineering software. That was my first building experience with Technic. Now I found myself in the nest in Billund, doing engineering on bricks. Getting such a hot first hand experience with the bricks and all the other parts, has made me a Lego fan. I just love building stuff. Searching for Lego related information on the internet, I have seen quite some of the other forums and stuff, before I stumbled over this site. This looks like a place for me, an adult Lego fan. I am here as a fan, and I'm not representing TLC with my parcitipation in this forum, other than showing good relations with other end-users like you all. I will in no way discuss anything about the company or it's products, that is not known to the public, or would violate my contract with TLC. In other words, I am here to have fun, sharing ideas with other users of the products. I hope to have the time to browse through some of the old posts, showing some of the great mocs and stuff, that I have allready seen is present here. I have a great deal to learn about building technics, but hope I will improve. What I like most is to create mocs, spending time with bricks in my hands, exercising the brain. I have allready made my first post, with some of my first moc atempts: Exo-Force mocs , and hope to contribute with more and better. I am a Technic fan, love Bionicle designs, and is getting more and more into Exo-Force. Front btw, at the moment my avatar is a glow in the dark Bionicle mask.

Thank you LuxorV I already have some alternates made for a couple of other sets, and plan to present them later. I might need to rethink some of the designs though.

Thank you both for honest replies, that's what I was hoping for. I have worked quite some on the Crouched Titan, but the previous attempts was combiners able to host up to 4 persons. The Flight Titan was put together more or less in one go. It is a challenge though to make mocs limited to these rather simple sets. I must say though that I have regarded Exo-Force (and Lego system generally) as less interesting, compared to Technic and Bionicle, before getting into Exo-Force some weeks ago. I am rather hooked now on these creations, combining system and technic elements, and deploying those wonderfull sturdy click joints (I have learnt that they were introduced by TLC with the Knights theme). I regard the sets 7700-7704, I believe they were the first Exo to appear, to be some of the absolute best Exo ever (knowing that the theme have ended now). The ball joints in never sets are a bit disapointing. They lead to limited poseability of bigger mocs, and the look of the ball joints rather conflict with the system elements in my opinion. Ball joints are great though in Bionicle.

..... and here the Crouched Titan. Top view, ready for battle: Top view, opened: Front View: Side view, the Titan walking while shooting at a flying robot. Please note these are some of my first exo-force mocs, got my first exo-set two weeks ago. I still need a lot of practice and studying of building technics.

I could not have described it better myself ;-) Back to the photo dark room (yes I actually take these pictures in the dark, 20 second exposure and lighted by a flash light which I move around). First the Flight Titan. Front view, wings slightly raised. Side view: View from above:

This is my first post on this forum, so any general comment about my post is welcomed, although I might introduce myself later on in another thread. First picture show the Grand Titan (standard assembly), Crouched Titan and Flight Titan ready for battle. Second photo is the three with cockpits opened for inspections. The Grand Titan is in a low position. The Crouched Titan (middle, facing left) has the left armor mechanism skewed foreward, to allow the pilot to enter/exit. This mechanism consist of the black 5M beams, rotating in front of the pilots feets. The large red curved panel rotates about the other end of the black beam, and just beside that rotation point, the red sword rotates relative to the panel. These three-joint assembly does not fix firmly in any poosition, but is resting fine in the "closed-cockpit-position" with the sword pointing backwards. The curved red panels can be pointed a bit up or down in this position. The light brick is activated by pushing the two black 4x1M beams hinged at the rear. The Flight Titan (right, facing left), has one wing in normal position, and the other pointing upward in a "carrier-position". The wings can pitch too. The Flight Titan consist of the cockpit (including front landing gear) and the main body, linked together in a four joint mechanism, by the two black 5M beams and the two black 4x1M bent beams. That gives the craft a rather strange posture, where it can straighten while in flight, and bend slightly when it's landing, to bring the two red swords down to act as rear landing gear. The powering jet is linked to the cockpit through two joints, and can be angled as needed. The small black rear wings can be angled indepedently. The Flight Titan has no light brick. The third picture show the two mocs in side views, in front of the Grand Titan. The flight Titan has both wings raised. I hope you like these, although the pictures do not show much of the details. Maybe I should add some more pictures, showing details.
