  1. Fantastic! Instantly recognizable as a mid-60's Pontiac.
  2. Glad to see PAB has regained its usefulness for now. Hopefully that continues and we'll get access to 10305 parts sooner rather than later.
  3. Cool concept that's well executed. The only change I would like to see is some more slopes on the rock work would go a long way to smooth it out and look a bit more natural.
  4. It USED TO BE fantastic for army building. TLG has gutted PAB, and is showing no sign of returning to it's former usefulness.
  5. Hah, yeah I know I’m crying about nothing. I just like to knock ‘em out fast, and have historically had the best luck when they first start hitting stores.
  6. Brilliant! I would love to see something like that done. Gives me some ideas too.
  7. I've checked 3 Walmarts, 1 Kohl's and even a Walgreens because they sometimes have them fairly early. No luck.
  8. Hah! Sorry I was slow on that one. Pretty funny.
  9. It looks pretty good, but where do you store it with that ramp sticking out? It sure wouldn't fit on any shelf in my house.
  10. That’s funny, I think we all have spent a lot of time organizing spare parts, and we also all have one half-full bin of unorganized stuff, like we just ran out of steam and gave up. Lol
  11. That’s one good reason that I leave my castles assembled, lol. But if I’m looking for a piece that I know I have, I can usually find it. I’m not sure if that’s a virtue of good organization or not having enough spare parts.
  12. The double-castle looks pretty cool! It seems as though the asymmetry of it actually helps.
  13. Thanks for putting up with my PITA question, lol. It’s appreciated. I think we are more or less aligned, with the main difference being that I’m really not giving much credibility to the notion that it hasn’t sold well because of the aforementioned dearth of information. Yup, that’s where I am with this.
  14. Sorry, I know it’s hard to sort out. When you say “it’s the expense”, the implication is, the “it’s” is pointing to a problem. Are you saying the problem is you think sales are low? And the expense is the reason? Using Facebook as anecdotal evidence that people are liking it but not purchasing because of the price makes sense, but it also makes sense to me that this is a problem for every $400 set. I’m just trying to get to the bottom of this assumption that sales are unexpectedly low, and if that’s the case, what that assumption is based on. Ultimately, it is my opinion that there’s no way to accurately know if that’s the case, and therefore any assumption one way or the other is lacking any tangible data to back it up, making it a moot point.
  15. Good points, and I agree with everything except Lego castle not being the most important thing, lol. Waiting my whole life for a castle like this, so there was nothing that was going to keep me from getting this set ASAP. I do have a question though. When you say “IMO, it’s the hefty price tag”. While we can agree this thing is expensive, I’m having a hard time determining what the “it” is. When you say it’s expensive, what conclusion are you leading to with that? Are you saying that you think it’s not selling well based on anecdotal facebook evidence? If so, I get that, but I think that’s a self-fulfilling thing, because anytime you’re talking about an expensive set, you’re going to see a ton of comments where people are saying they like it but it’s too expensive.
  16. Accessibility has always been an issue with castles. This one handles it better than most.
  17. I went to a couple today, but no joy. Probably sometime in the next week or so, it'll show up. I'll post up when I find them.
  18. I appreciate the thoughtful response. As you admit, lots of speculation to your findings. My only problem with that approach is that it’s a multi-factor equation with too many letters in it. You’re not solving for X, you’re solving for X, Y, Z, A, B, etc. and some of those factors are just so squishy. How often do sets sell out within 2 weeks of release? Of those that do, how many are over $350? If they do sell out, is that a good thing? Does TLG really want a first run to sell out fast, necessitating a reset of packaging, assembly and distribution all over again? It could be the case that a sellout condition early in a sets run represents an unfortunate miscalculation of demand rather than a hands-down indicator of success. (Popularity indicates success, but drastically underestimating demand would be a failure, right?) I don’t pretend to know those answers, and I’m fine with that. It just feels a little yucky to me to come to a conclusion, particularly a negative one, when there are just too many question marks to have any certainty in the conclusion. Seems more like an indicator of someone leaning toward optimism or pessimism. I myself am a cautious optimist. I try not to set myself up for disappointment, but assuming failure based on insufficient evidence does me no good.
  19. Well howdy neighbor, that’s great news. Sounds like I’ll be hitting up Fort Worth Wally Worlds in the near future.
  20. Would you mind giving us at least an approximate location? It’s helpful to know because things tend to roll out on a regional level.
  21. May I ask what you’re basing that conclusion on? Since TLG doesn’t report sales figures, that seems like an unanswerable question, especially 2 weeks into it’s availability.
  22. So is your position that this is all a veiled attempt for Itaria to spread some sort of racial or cultural insensitivity? I’m not buying it. I don’t know where in the US you hail from, friend, but around these parts, Native Americans are part of the culture, and excluding them from representation is not a solution. It’s a knee-jerk reaction from guilt that does nothing to honor the past (brutal as it often was) or the present people.
