  1. I can't imagine why. I've seen you around for years too, and have only seen you bring value and a thoughtful approach to the forums. Weird.
  2. I did the survey. Hope it helps. I would say, I stumbled a little bit on the money conversion questions though. Parenthetical American $ would be helpful.
  3. He's also translating this stuff from Italian. Sheesh.
  4. Beautiful design and I really love the colors. Nice work on this. You may enjoy this bit of history, but the town I'm in (Benbrook, Texas) had a station like this that dates back to the 1870's. We also had Wichita, Comanche, Caddo and Apache tribes of Native Americans in the area. It's a shame that in some people's effort to scrub history with political correctness, they're wiping out representation of real people in the process. That's a debate for another thread though. Good luck! I'm supporter 1592.
  5. With all due respect, I don’t think your anecdotal experience is representative of the whole. If kids were only into licensed, how is it that city has been around so consistently? Or creator? Or CMF? I think the part we can all agree on is that somehow TLG got it in their heads that classic themes (castle/pirates/space) conflict with licensed themes to the point that licensed themes win and classic themes lose. Hopefully the last year or two has helped them understand that there’s room for both.
  6. You clearly put a lot of thought into this, and as you say, TLG didn’t really put much into the lore surrounding castle themes, especially with classic castle, so I think you have a lot of freedom to make it what you want it to be. I personally see this as a feature rather than a bug. For my part, I don’t see a canonical situation where all factions exist simultaneously. I see them as generational, much in the way that they were rolled out. For example, I see the Kingdoms lions and dragons as an evolution of the 80’s factions. Not separated by region or people, but by time. Perhaps the Kingdoms lions were populated by the great grandchildren of the folks that built 6080.
  7. I don’t know, they managed to find the production capability for the gamble that was Vidyo. I realize that’s not AFOL focused, but by comparison, a castle battle pack would be a sure thing with lots of bleed-over into every demographic. It didn’t take a rocket surgeon to tell that Vidyo was much more risky with a lower chance of success and a giant investment in new parts, shelf space, marketing, etc.
  8. No. Also, the CMF boxes aren’t supposed to be in stores until September of next year. Series 23 is coming out now and the rumor is series 24 is coming out in January, so you can delay your worries until series 25.
  9. I agree. I’m all for civilian castle sets and MMV is amazing for what it is, but a new village set doesn’t need to directly reference it to be great.
  10. While I agree, I'm personally choosing to look at the positives. "Some" printing, no matter how good/bad, is better than none. If we're looking at the other factions that have gotten the update recently (Black Falcons/Lions), the thing that takes them to the next level is the coordinated leg printing. That's not happening here, and that bugs me more than the flatness of the torso print. Still, what we do get is worth purchasing a few for me. It's enough to have an armored knight and some supporting troops, plus having accessible gold visors and swords.
  11. A little more thorough review on Jay's blog. The torso printing on the knight costume girl is a really nice touch. Thank goodness for that.
  12. Cool video. Not sure how I missed that one but I dig it. Sweet El Camino too.
  13. This is a fun, colorful army. Dig the small supporting builds too.
  14. I think that is one of the greatest current mysteries. Now that we have black falcons, lions, forestmen, new civilians… there’s no good reason not to.
  15. That ramp upgrade is really nice. As far as whatever customer service said about getting additional Lion knights, I don’t trust them to truly know how that situation will work out. I think it’s a hurry-up-and wait situation where the solution will reveal itself or it won’t. If the new black falcons or forestmen have set any precedent, it’s that they’ll find a way to put those Lion knights in future sets. Fingers crossed.
  16. Yeah I’d like to expand it too, but not really because I find it lacking, but just because it’d be fun to do.
  17. Hah! I kind of have so I can enjoy the details for now, but I’ll have to move it up to its spot on the shelf eventually.
  18. Have you built it? I may have agreed with you before I built mine, and now that I have, I think it's about perfect. It's a really good size, and barely fits on a shelf as it is. Wider and/or deeper would require that it live on a pedestal in the middle of the room, lol.
  19. Sad face. Hopeless indeed. No way to know then that we were barreling toward such a castle drought at the time. One development that’s come from the change in perspective is, who would have known that the best possible outcome would be refreshing classic heraldry?
  20. Series 23 reviews are trickling in. Looks like the knight costume does have torso printing, but it is very specific to this heraldry:
  21. Yup. Could have been a running change during production.
  22. Really nice job on these. I think you adapted the newer style to the old sets quite well, though I too miss the watery prisoner cell. It always struck me as a particularly dastardly form of detention. Is the crossing set next? The rope bridge done in a new way would be an interesting challenge. Maybe something like the Ewok village.
  23. It's going to get a lot cheaper/more accessible soon with it being in CMF series 23.
  24. Though I understand the reasoning, it's still a shame. Your CMF reviews were unrivaled in their production value and thoroughness.
