10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
SirBlake replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Perhaps not, but if the CMF rogue is any indication, they can really do a stellar job of making a modernized version.- 2,976 replies

[MOC] Falcon Knight's Castle (6086 vs 31120)
SirBlake replied to Rauy's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great idea! This is really nice, and for my part, I actually really like the bulkiness of those corner towers. -
10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set

That's a dream of mine... to have a new Joust set released with more focus on the stands, comes with two knights/horses, king & queen, a spectator or two and a king's guard, with smaller supporting sets being released with other factions, a horse and knight, a squire, maybe a herald and a spectator and a tent for the jousting crew and a small extension for the stands. The raven and bear factions would be a great place to start with that.- 2,976 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 24. Rumors and discussion

Good to know, thanks! Still no luck at Target/Kohls for me today. Kohls folks were nice enough to check for me, and no CMF’s on this week’s truck. Told me to check back next Tuesday. :/ -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 24. Rumors and discussion

For those finding these, can you post your location? I've heard reports of findings in Central PA and Orlando Florida. Still no luck in Fort Worth, TX, but I'm on the hunt. -
Lighting added! I think it definitely does a lot of work to bring things to life. EDIT: Also, you can see where I revamped the mounting of the bull skull above the bar. I think recessing it is a better look.

Pics! It didn't make sense to me to have a door open up to another door, so I came up with this different facade.- 2,976 replies

That works WAY better than it should! Love all the little story moments you were able to work in there too.

Awesome! It’s a fun build. I didn’t have the right red slopes for a second roof, so I made crenellations in the same style as the castle gate house and I think it works great with them back-to-back.- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
SirBlake replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That was an amazing deal! I really love that set. I built a mostly-mirrored second half with spare bricks and it really gives it some mass. I think it’s fair to say it’s the highest quality Kingdoms set based on build and parts usage. Plus great horse barding and the singular “gen 2” Black Falcon.- 2,976 replies

Indeed. I can attest to the sincerity part, as we can all identify with the idea of taking inspiration from other people's work, but as soon as I saw the Golden Crown Inn, I knew I had to dive in and give it a go.

I just totaled up everything I plan on selling (everything but Helm’s Deep, the HD battle pack, Orthanc, Bag End, the Corsair ship and Moria) I picked the lowest comparable US price on Bricklink (complete with instructions) and took 10% off and it still totaled over $1,700. Crazy how high these prices are.

Pretty boring for my tastes. Just as well. It’s a beating having to drive all the way to Dallas with no guarantee of what is in stock. Calling ahead helps, but that’s a beating too.
-
Yeah, but elf ears and low shirt collars mess that up on quite a few characters.
-
I guess it comes down to a quality vs. quantity discussion. Given the choice, I would prefer a handful of dioramas to a single $500 set and a bunch of BrickHeadz I don't care about.
-
We have a few fantastic examples of adult-focused solutions (like those SW dioramas), so it very doesn’t seem like it’s worth the negativity. To me at least.
-
I see where you’re going with this, and I’m not personally trying to make a case for great Hulkbuster sales (I truly don’t care), but when it comes to projecting sales performance in general, it is something that is, at best, inferred based on a collection of anecdotal evidence and the conclusion can be heavily influenced by bias, with no actual sales data to confirm or deny the supposition. Because of this, I find these sales projections to be less than scientific. It’s fine to speculate, but without real data that we’re not going to get, it seems rife with speculation that is heavily influenced by opinion.
-
I have to give this a BIG thumbs up. That would be a perfect way to provide a high quality, shelf-friendly solution that fans would devour. As a huge Star Wars fan, I had to make the decision 20 years ago that my $ and display space could only handle Lego or SW, but it couldn’t hold both. With that said, those SW dioramas have been the biggest temptation. I’m holding strong, but Lego LotR is too close to castle for me not to dive in. Provided it’s not some dopey Brick Headz. They even put a Z on the end just as a little dopey cherry on top. lol I don’t really feel that strongly about them one way or the other, but the fact that they’re the only affordable and easily accessible option after 10ish years… that’s just mean.

Thanks! Though to be fair, those aspects were lifted directly from the Inventor. He deserves the credit there. :)
